  1. We filed our N-400 in preparation for Citizen interview less than a month ago. We followed all the rules and submitted every piece of required evidence as stated on the USCIS website. About 1-2 weeks after mailing in the packet we received a yellow paper from USCIS that states:

"After a complete review of your file and Application for Naturalization (Form N-400), this office has found additional documentation may be needed "UNLESS PREVIOUSLY SUBMITTED, please bring the below rquested docuemnts to the interview."

"If you are applying for naturalization on the basis of marriage to a US citizen, bring an original IRS Form 1722 for the past three years "OR" copies of the income tax forms you filed for the past three years..."

I sent copies of the tax returns for the previous three years (tax years; 2006; 2007; 2008). Did they not see them? The letter seems to imply that they did not look at what I sent e.g., "UNLESS PREVIOUSLY SUBMITTED"- if they really looked at the packet, they would clearly see the tax forms- so why this letter?

Also, will the copies of the tax returns suffice or do I have to request transcripts? Can we also bring this years return in addition to the past 3 years? It will be done by our CPA prior to our interview.

    Thank you!!!

This is a std yellow letter they seem to be seding to everyone now a days regardless of looking into what doc they have sent or not send. I got the same stnd letter inspite of submitting all..so not a panic for your specific case...

Howwver, just preapare and take every docs with you for the interview.

Tax return copies with accompay of W2 are OK as I read from others in this forum.

Better, else, request transcripts as they are free..

  2. I had my fingerprinting 2/9 and today 2/20 i got a letter from uscis (in yellow paper) saying i need to submit state issued driver's license or any state issued picture ID. Not to be mailed but to be brought during the naturalization interview. That i should come to the interview on time and properly attired. The problem is there's no date of the interview on the letter.

Has anybody here received a similar letter. Should i wait for another letter with the interview date?

    thank you.

yeah...lot of us have recd that yello letter..its more of a heads-up letter for interview with standard doc list.

You will recv interview letter separately....good luck

  3. I finally can check my case online. But now I think it comes with the problem. I never received any request additional letter dated show below but the only one I received on the past saturday(yellow letter) requested to bring along with the interview. What should I do? Anybody receive some error message like this before? Please advise. Thank you

    Request for Evidence

On January 14, 2010, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

A request for evidence is made when an application/petition is lacking required documentation/evidence (initial evidence) or the officer needs more documentation/evidence (additional evidence) to determine an applicant's eligibility for the benefit sought. We may send you a request for evidence at any stage of our review. The request will indicate what evidence or information is needed for us to fully evaluate your application or petition. The notice will explain where to send the evidence and will give the deadline for your response. Your application or petition will be held in suspense during that time. If you receive a request for evidence and have questions about what you need to submit, you may call our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283

    Lthi:

Our case is same as yours....

The message above that you are seeing must have been there since they sent you letter for FingerP and this messase seems to have for FingerP only.

So nothing to worry abt it...you will soon receive interview letter ...keep checkin status as it may update when they send interview...

our case is same.....got FP notice and done on 2/2 and our status says same thing as above since than.

We also got that yellow letter on last saturday same as you but this has nothing to do with status..

and our case no also starts with NBC*..

    so dont worry too much...

  4. We applied for N-400, got NOA and got fingerprint done and while we are waiting for interview notice to come

today got some standard letter from USCIS saying our case required additonal document mention below for the marriage based case

where they say 1) past three years of IT return copies or form 1722 required 2) prof of resi required or mortgage/renet paymet required.

They also mention that this is standard general letter and dont send any docs by mail but bring it in interview with this original notice letter.

Now I already submitted last two year tax transcripts and copy of our joint signed apt lease agreement for last 2-3 years when I filed n-400, so I am wondering why I end up getting this letter ? Is this standard practise ?

Or is it becasue I submitted last 2 yrs tax return trascripts and NOT 3 yrs ?? and I submitted joint lease agreement but not proof of rent ??

    Any experiences ??

    Thanks

  5. ---------------- Important Note ------------------------

For anyone that uses this forum as reference, they should not be into believing that this is simply the biometrics notice. If they did issue a actual request for evidence for the case, and you never responded to it then your case can be denied. Which would be a waste of money. So I woud llike to throw in a note for this topic, when its been 15 days from the date case status says a request for evidence was sent. Call the NCSC so they can put in a request to inquire about the request. Otherwise your case could be denied which means a appeal or file again.

Sure...thanks for the note....I will be counting my days...and than followup with them.

  6. We applied for N-400 in end of Dec in Phoenix...so far havent recd finger print notice ..although check is cleared and NOA is recd.

I checked the online status and it says below...

so seems like it could be that they have sent finer print notice...reading from other's experience....

Is this true ??? how long does it take for finger print notice to come ????

    thanks
