What form do we have to fill when applying for status change ( From PR to Citizen)?
You need to file N-400
You're correct about what form to file with the USCIS to cause the status to change.
I read the question differently, to mean what form to file with the social security agency to report the change of status that had already been made. If that's what the question is, I believe you file an SS-5, which is the generic form to file for a new card. You don't really need a new card, but that's the brilliant bureacracy for you -- the way to report a status change is to ask for a new card. And you'll get a new card, but it will look exactly like the old card.
Yes sir..You got my question right. I thought about it but still doubted why whould i need a new when i already got one .LOL

Hey Guys, I need little help as i was about to apply for passport, on advice of my friend I went to social security office first during my lunch break, the Token I got has a waiting time 111 minutes, so i came back unsuccessful, as i only can take 60 mts of Lunch Break. when i took a token, the computer gave me no option for what reason i come for, I guess I choose some Other option. Should i have chosen "Applying for social security card" or "Name change"..I presume its only status change..None of them..correct? can you let me know
Also If there a form I need to fill at social security office so i can fill and have it handy? Is there any special counter for just status change? I appreciate your help and soon i will have my entry in this list hoping if this is over tomorrow.

Hey Guys, I got too busy and forgot to apply for Passport, until some of my friend reminded me have you done that.
Here is My First Question. Do I have to Go to Post office Inperson with filled DS11 form+ 2 Passport Pic+ Naturalization Certificate?
What is that Online thing, i almost hit submit and backed off..What is that for? Can First time US passport applicants do Online submit form?

Here is my frustration. I quickly and successfully passed the interview 2 weeks ago (on October 15th). The problem is that my interview was 9 days too early to take the Oath even though my local office generally performs same day Oaths. I was trying to ask the IO to give me an Oath letter on the spot but she was reluctant and said that it will come in mail. However, she indicated that I should get the letter on or right after my eligibility date (October 24th) and the Oath should be in couple of weeks.
So it's been 2 weeks and my mailbox is still empty. I lost patience and scheduled an infopass appointment today. Unfortunately, before you can get to an actual IO at the infopass, you first have to fight your way through the receptioninst who knows as much (if not less) than the disinformation line and whoes main job is to turn as many people away as possible without letting them talk to the actual IO.
This receptionist just kept parroting the same phrase over and over again "sir, you have to allow 120 days from your interview until the Oath ceremony. If 120 days pass and you still don't recieve anything you can schedule another Infopass". No calls for reason and asking to talk to a higher level IO who can actually look into my case and figure out what the hold up is and probably give it a push didn't seem to work at all. The other guy at the reception was trying to be more helpful and actually looked up my alien number in their system and said that my Oath hasn't been scheduled yet and there is nothing he can do.
Anyhow, I left with nothing. My whole application from the day I sent it to the interview date took 2.5 months and now I'm stuck at the Oath stage when I see most of the people on this board take the Oath within 2-3 weeks after the interview max.
Any idea what the hold up may be and how long can it possibly take? Also, at the interview she didn't stamp APPROVED on my application, just gave me a N-652 (or whatever it is) saying that I was recommended for approval. Does it mean that it can still be pending supervisors final approval? What else can it be?
I'm really frustrated because I'd prefer not to travel between the interview and the Oath and I cannot make my holiday plans until I know I can get the passport before the end of the year. Any advices, opinions, theories will be highly appreciated!

I am sorry to hear your plight. My Interview was held 3 days earlier to my 3rd year as LPR and I got the Oath Letter on the spot for 2 days later Oath a day earlier then 3 rd year as LPR, but i have to go thru pendamonium on the Oath Day as they did not make the certificates ready as i am still 1 day shy of 3 rd Year complition as LPR. There is a lack of coordination between the people who schedule the interviews and IOs, I still dont undrstand why they call people 1-2 weeks early for Interview exactly before 3 rd Anniversary as LPR whn they damn well know they can't make for Oath. I have learnt a lesson in a hard way, dont hurry and rush your application right on 90 day Prior, Take your time relax send ony before 75 days Prior ..they dont have to go thru all this S**t

OATH Experience on 10/15/09
I had a shocking Moments which took almost my breath away, when we all were allowed to stand in a line before start of the ceremony to confirm Name, DOB, Country & Pic are correct before we sign there on Certificate of citizenship and give away GC, when my turn came They don't have mine, I was like ####### what they going to do, is something went wrong or what. A lady took my GC and walked inside locked doors, i was sitting there and my family also started to worry coz they all drove $300 Miles took off from schools and Jobs to vouch me taking Oath, disappointment looming on all our faces worried what is going to be the Outcome, i could not communicate anything to the family as i was made to sit separately which is 10 yards away, Finally i thought for a second i know why mine could be not ready coz i have my GC since 10/16/2006, and today is only 10/15/2009.. May be because of that they gonna hold me off . around that time I saw a man around 50 has his not ready walking and sat next to me i asked him when he had his interview he said Yesterday and I told him mine was a day earlier then him, I am Praying God I don't want to come back, the lady who took my GC inside the locked doors came out once with no info first time, went back inside and came out again she saw my tense face and came to me and said don't worry, you are fine and during her 3 time Out she came out with Certificates in her Hand. Thank you Jesus..Oh what a sigh of relief (i can only Imagine since our interview were done days before they are n't ready??? Any ways because of all this , I became the first One called to receive the Certificate of Citizenship out of 50 from 19 different countries.

I did get right after my Interview, Its already Printed/xerox made copy with date Time and questionaire on it , all she did was write my Name and A Number on it and hand over it to me. Any ways congratulations
The worry part is Over, You do need some excitement LOL, look i am already getting bored as citizen . -
It's ironic how the USCIS can reject an application if you send it in 91 days before instead of the 90 they specify. Felt with the I-751, should have let us submit it the day after my wife received her conditional card, those two years that went by would have worked out just about right for their processing times.
Wife had her interview in St. Paul a year ago when the republican convention was going on just a few miles away. Thought that McCain, Bush, or Cheney would show up at her oath ceremony for a picture taking session. Bush never showed up even to his convention, McCain went to New Orleans, think Cheney went hunting, no one showed. We were advised not to even drive by the convention center as security was a maximum with blocked traffic, so just went home.
You can have our cheap 5" printed flag on a tiny Popsicle type stick, looks like it was made in China. Did get my wife a seven foot flag that was flown over the Capitol building in her honor, all hand stitched and made in the USA. They just pasted our photo to the certifcate with a USCIS half stamped on her photo and the certificate, even that looks cheap. Could have plastic laminated it for a few cents more, was thinking about getting that done, but not sure if that is legal.
Finishing up with the USCIS meant dealing with the DOS, that was even more stress.
Thank God, we don't have to deal with them No More Hopefully for Ever and Ever

Guys, To day I had my Interview at 1:30 PM, the last leg of my Journey before ultimately becoming Proud USC.Thank You Lord.
Got there with wife, Kids and Mother In law and Father in law around 30 mts early hmm guess what we only got last row seats.
(After my Interview I asked the lady is there any Limit on how many will be allowed to watch she said honey you can bring the whole Block if you want

Any ways because of all this , I became the first One called to receive the Certificate of Citizenship out of 50 from 19 different countries.OK here is what has happened during the time of presentation.USCIS office folks were constantly peeking onto I-10 by rolling blinds up, the district officer said, "you might all be thinking we are crazy, why we constantly looking out thru glass windows ", Mr President is Now in New Orleans today and his motorcade is going to pass this way, right then i saw Mr Obama's convoy passing by, some one screamed there it is and everyone got up from their seats and the presentation was literally halted for few minutes, it was so hilarious we saw him talking on TV few minutes early welcoming us as fellow citizens and now he is right (t)here!!
after that we all got some Pictures taken with family and left the building, I guess there are not many filers from New Orleans, but i have to admit its One of the the Best office and the staff are so welcoming.
One disappointment thing is They did Not gave us flags, Had i known i would have taken one with Me

Congats for successfull inteview and gl for the Oath. I think most likely I will also have to go there too (New Orleans) for Interview and Oath. These days waiting for interview date/letter. I have few questions if you plz can asnwer:
1. do they have same day oath options on the interview day most of time
No, They do Once in a Month I could be wrong
2. how busy is the center regarding getting interview/oath dates
I would say they are pacing for the whole thing to be done in 3 Months, for me It all rolled out in exactly in 3 Months ( 2-3 weeks getting Bio, 1-2 Months Iterview and Oath), for those apply little later prior to their 90 days have advantage
3. anything more to share about this center and where to stay like how expensive it will be
Look for hotels close to 70001, we stated at marriot @causeway Blvd ($129/nite)which is 2 Miles, Other Places could be on veterans Blvd($80-$100), or French Quater(around $100) Its Only 15-20 Minute drive, But has lot of action

My husband found some contact phone numbers for the Philadelphia field office - naturalization help line of some sort. So he called today (yesterday was a Columbus Day ) and this particular extension only allows you to leave a message, which he did...
And to my sincere surprise they just called us back, letting us know that even though ceremony place might be small - they will be happy to accommodate our request for some relatives to attend the ceremony with me.
YAAAAAY!
I had a feeling It might hurt ones feeling if they were not allowed to watch you taking Oath!

Hi All,
Yesterday (on Tuesday) I had My interview at 9.20 AM in New Orleans.I took Mon/Tue off from work as i need to drive 600 Miles from Dallas before i get there.I and my wife drove a day on Monday and stayed at Hotel Marriot close to Airport which is Only 5 Miles to the USCIS Bldg.
I got ready with all documentation except 2 Photos. I have in my mind I need to check out early enough so that i can find a close Walgreens so I can get 2 Pass Part Pictures taken, which I could not do the day before as it was pouring heavily and the roads are flooding, so we stayed back at Hotel. My wife could not sleep good till 2 AM, and she took her time to get ready and we have only 1 hr left to get to USCIS, so i gave up that idea, i was mad at my self and wife
for not getting that taken care of. I will be screwed if they ask me have i brought 2 pass Port Pictures like asked, and come again for not having them that made me nervous and i have my Interview questions messed up due to tension while driving to USCIS.(studied Once again calmly after dropping off my letter)I arrived at 9:00 AM and droped my letter at check-in counter. I waited for 25 minutes for my name to be called. The interviewer is a sweet white lady in her mid 40s. The lady asked me to do oath and went through quickly all the Yes/No questions and asked me if I owe any taxes. Have I left Country after filing. She also asked me about my recent Job. I told her I work remotely, or travell to dallas M to F and come back to Louisina for week Ends..
Then She showed me the sheet with question, "who elects the President" and asked me write down the answer "we the citizens elect President"
These are the answers to the questions asked.

Finally she told me she is recommending me for Citizenship,she printed out the sheet and gave it to me which say i will be doing oath on 10/15, I knew why because that will mark my 3 Year succesful completion as PR. I told her Thank you and have a Great day and Left ,

Part 9 is asking about your children. Well I dont have any on my own with my husband but he has a daughter.
I did not adopt her. Do I need to list her?

She was then given a N-652, Naturalization Interview Results form. The first box was checked saying she passed the tests, and the B) blank was checked saying “A decision cannot yet be made about your application.” and the IO wrote to the side “Not yet 3 yrs residence approvable on 10/19”. She said that they would mail her Oath Ceremony letter on or around 10/19. Had she already met the 3 yrs residency, they would have had her wait a little longer in the waiting area and given her the Oath Ceremony letter, as I saw them doing with other individuals.
All in all, very painless. I think I was more nervous than my wife was! Will wait for the letter and go back for the Oath Ceremony in the same building.

thinking that I have to make another trip. I will be 2 Days shy of 3 years Completion and i have to make 600 Mile Drive by taking 2 days off from Work as we plan on staying at a hotel the day before interview as My Appointment is at 9:30 AMMy Wife commented i was lucky to have long week end early in Oct
besides Thanks giving & Christmas which are due in Nov and Dec respectively -

Updating my timeline. I had my interview this morning at 6:30 AM in Irving, TX. I passed the interview it was very easy (took only 15 minutes) and had my oath at 1:30 PM the same place . My hubby and I are so happy that our immigration journey come to an end

Is it past 3 years of you having permanent residency? I am 3 days shy on my inreview date.What i heard is They will make you take Oath only after 3 Years pf having PR?

I have a question. I received my green card through marraige. But I am applying for citizenship after 5 years of permanent residence.
Do I still have to apply for citizenship through marriage or can I apply for citizenship by the fact that I have been a resident for 5 years?
