  1. Hello all,

I'm helping a friend to fill our paperworks and stuff, and she's estimated to give birth at the end of July.

We're wondering if she sends all paperwork now, what should she do when the baby's born?

Do they need to fill out a new I-864 (since there's one more person in the household)?

    Anything to keep in mind?

Would it just be easier to start the process after the baby's born?

Thanks and I wish everyone in the process of AOS get their things done fast and successfully!

  2. Okay...I'm so excited because my best freind here is eligible for adjusting her status in the US.

Anyways, we're just wondering what kind of forms she'd need to file based on the facts that

    1) her parents are LPR

    2) She entered as a F-1 student, and just graduated. She's on OPT right now.

I know she'd definately be needing to file the following forms

    I-130

    I-485

    I-864

    G-325

    I-765

    I-131

Are there any other forms needed?

    Thanks!

    Amanda

  3. Hi people,

I have recently received my green card. At the interview, I was told that I'd be getting a 10 yr one since I married my hubby in 12/2003.

When I acually got the card, it's only good for 2 yrs.

I think USCIS made a mistake....

    Anyone with similar situation?

Should I make an infopass to talk to someone in my local office?

    Suggestions?

    Thanks!!

  4. Hello ladies and Gents :)

I have an upcoming AOS interview and i just need to know your input. First of all me and my wife had been married for less the a year, but we been together for almost 8 years. Now my wife works in the bay area and prolly will be moving back here in southern CA before the year ends. Do you guys think that were going to have any problem as far as evidence. I am planning to bring our photo's ( prom pictures ) and old letters from her and much more...our joint mastercard account and health insurance. I am concern that we currently dont live together but we manage to be with each other eventhough its long distance. Thanks :)

I think you'll be alright. But more evidence would be much better.

Photos....good evidence, but my officer did not even ask to see them.

the officer asked for my lease, joint bank acct (for your master card, maybe get a letter from the bank saying when you guys opened the acct), health insurance (both names on it), life insurance (her or your name being beneficiary), assets (such as houses deeds or timeshare stuff...anything), car title, car insurance, utility bills and etc.

These are what I can think of right now..and those are what my officer asked for. He did not even take a look at other things except for my passport.

The interview isn't gonna be hard at all. It's just gonna be the things you filled on the applicantion they may ask, and the supporting documents.

Good luck...and just explain your situation to them!!

  5. Ok..This is a question I'm asking for an online frined .

She came into the states with a B-1 visa, and she married her husband in Las Vegas. Now she's thinking about getting her green card.

I think she already showed intention to immigrate by marrying a USC.

Therefore, will the interview for AOS be difficult for her??

Is it likly the immigration officer will doubt the marriage to be a fake one?

If so, should she leave the US and start her application in Taiwan??

    ANy suggestions??

    Thanks a lot! ;)

Ok..This is a question I'm asking for an online frined .

She came into the states with a B-2 visa, and she married her husband in Las Vegas. Now she's thinking about getting her green card.

    I meant a B-2 visitor visa...haha

  6. My husband is here in the US. He entered as a student, and is applying for AOS and EAD. Here is our timeline so far:

11-4-06 sent AOS and EAD forms to USCIS

    11-6-06 forms received by USCIS

So how long did it take for you to receive your EAD? What's the next step? If you've had any difficulties along the way what were they?

    Thanks,

    Elizabeth

I also entered as F-1, but I didn't apply AP or EAD cuz they cost too much.

From the day I sent everything to Chicago to the interview day, it took around 70 days.

    I just got approved.

Make sure you have as many joint asset statement as possible! My interviewer only asked for that and I gave him 6 joint asset proof.

    Good luck!

  7. Hey stan,

I was a F-1, and my case was approved yesterday.

I think the only thing to keep in mind is don't get married within half a year after your very first entry. Or you may be considered intending to enter to marry.

I sent out everything on Aug 29, 2006, received the first notice (saying they got my AOS and I-130) 7 days later.

Got biometrics scheduled around 2 weeks later, and the notice of interview was received in early Oct.

I just went to the interview yesterday (Nov 11, 2006), and I was approved.

The officer did ask for my I-20, but he returned it to me w/o making a copy.

There was no problems at all at the interview.

Just make sure your girl and you have joint assets!

    Good luck!

  8. I met husband online when I was in high school, and I came here for college.

We dated since the day we met and got married 2 yrs later in Dec 2003.

Didn't file for AOS till Aug 29, 2006.

I got my biometrics about two weeks after the day I sent the AOS package to Chicago lockbox,

and interview notice received at the beginning of Oct, and was scheduled and approved on Nov 9, 2006.

The total process took around 70 days.

Here is my interview experience to share with everyone.

My husband and I were waiting in the lobby of the SLC office.

At 10:40, we got called in.

The officer asked us to swear we're telling the truth in his office, then we were asked to sit down.

He first asked for our ID cards and my passport.

The first thing he did was taking away my I-94 white card.

Then he asked about the date of marriage and my ssn#.

The officer started to chat with my hubby cuz he used to work at the same job in the airport. It continued for around 10 mins, then he started to review documents they have.

He reviewed AOS and other sent documents, and asked for "joint assets with both our names on."

We gave him joint bank acct, rental lease, car title, car insurance, joint savings acct, timeshare purchase, and health insurance.

Then he wrote something on my application, and told me that I'm approved!! YAY!!

He didn't stamp my passport cuz he said the green card will arrive in 1 week or 2.

Didn't ask for any pix, or other kinda evidence, and therefore I think joint assets and the way you talk the officer is the key to be approved.

Good luck to everyone still in the process, and pls feel free to contact me if you have questions and stuff!

    :thumbs::lol::dance::P:star:

  9. Hi people,

I'm having my AOS interview tomorrow, and I was doing the final check. I noticed one thing on the interview notice is "Evidence of your spouse's United States Citizenship."

    What is considered an evidence?

Will a birth certificate showing he's borned in the US work?

My husband doesn't have a passport, but he does have SSN, driver's license and stuff.

    Thanks!

    *very nervous now*

I would imagine the Birth Certificate would be all that’s required as proof of citizenship. We submitted copies of everything, my wife had her US passport with her but it wasn’t needed nor was her original birth certificate (USCIS already had a copy in the file). Keep in mind they could well ask to see originals of anything already submitted.

I would think that you would be fine with the birth certificate, SSN Card and a state/federal photo ID of some description. I’m sure if I’m wrong here someone will correct!

Good Luck, I’m sure you’ve nothing to worry about! :D

    Aidan80,

Thank you so much for your kind reply. :)

The sheep pic is really cute! I like the big one with black legs...haha

  11. There might be a lot of reasons somebody here is ilegal.

However, they should go thru the same procedure just like everyone.

I don't even understand how those ilegal immigrants were not embarrassed about themselves but walked out on the street to ask for legal status. If I were them, I'd hide and try to resolve it in a legal way.

Surly I feel bad for those kids brought to the US ilegally. They didn't know anything, and it wasn't their fault. Perhaps there should be a solution for them, not their parents though.

I was mad because my tuition each semester was $5000 or more.

Why the heck the illegals can pay the in-state tuition

I was also mad because I was going to school for a meeting, but they blocked the main road so I was late.

Once a friend from Brazil said "Why don't I just swim from Cuba into USA then I can save myself a lot of moeny on tuition and plane tickets."

    Surly sounds reasonable, doesn't it.

  12. My examination was $150, and I didn't get any shots because I have an immunization card.

All shots were taken because the school I was attending needed it.

However, the "varicella" part on my card was not dated or marked, the nurse who noticed it just asked if I had chicken pox before. I said yes, then she just signed that part on my card, and stated "childhood."

    I guess I lucked out!

Maybe you should put the name of the doc on this board so people know.

  13. Hi all,

We will be getting married soon and I have started looking over the forms needed for her AOS. I will need my fiancees birth certificate and the death certificate of her first husband. However, she is from Korea and they don't have birth and death certificates but instead have a family registry. Will this do?

    Thanks,

    John

I'm from Taiwan, and we do not have a birth certificate, either.

My mother in Taiwan went to the hospital I was born to request a copy my birth record. I also have the family registry thing with me here.

Just have somebody translate the whole birth record (at least containing parents' names, your wife's name, date of birth for all names on the form).

The translator needs to put something like "he or she is fluent in both languages."

You also need to have a public notary to notarize it.

    Then it is official.

I sent my package in at the end of August, and my interview is scheduled for November. Seems like there was no problem with a birth certificate like that.

    Good luck on everything!

  14. Hi people,

I've submitted my I-485, and the interview is scheduled for Nov. 9, 2006

When I submitted the paper, all names were under my maiden name. Nothing changed.

However, I want to change my name to my husband's last name when I receive my GC. I also want to change my first name to what I go by, which is Mandie.

Here is an example to help you better understand.

    My name now: Mei-Li, Wang

    Husband Name: Jack Smith

I want to change my name to: Mandie Mei-Li Smith

What kinda document should I present? Does anyone have similar experiences? Any Advises??

    Thanks!

  15. Hi VJ-ers,

We filed hubby's AOS packet a bit ago and received the NOAs for AOS, AP, EAD, I-130.

    So here are the questions:

    1. They all start with "MSC" (is that meaningful?).

    2. When we try to check the case status online, we get a message stating that the case number is incorrect/does not exist. We've tried with and without dashes, checking that each digit is correct. Is there something we are missing?

    3. Any suggestions on what to do?

I am not sure what MSC mean, but I GUESSED it means "Missouri Service Center."

However, it is just a guess.

About the incorrect case number, I strongly suggest you calling the USCIS customer service number open Mon-Fri

    It is 1-800-375-5283

There will be a tons of recorded msg before you can choose your option. I always press "1" as soon as I am connected, then "3" then "6."

That should get you to a rep. within 5-10 mins.

The format of my number is MSC#########

Nine numbers followed by the "MSC."

    Good luck!

Oh btw, I just noticed that you're from Peru. If you want to speak to someone in Spanish, press "2" instead of "1."

  16. I applied at the end of August 2006, and I have got everything done except for the interview, which will take place on 11/09/2006.

I went on USCIS.gov to check on my case status, my I-130 shows the following msg, and my I-485's msg is basically telling me the same thing with I-130's.

"Your I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN was received on August 31, 2006. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. Follow the the link below for current processing dates. "

Do people have their I-485 and I-130 approved prior to the interview day??

If passed the intervies, but I-485 or I-130 isn't approved, do we simply have to wait until they are approved before I can get my GC??

Correct me if I am confusing myself on the process or anything!!

    Enjoy your weekend!

I am so freaking confused..haha :help:

  17. I have a Chinese name, and I haven't changed it since my husband and I got married.

I am just curious if it'd make it really complicated if I change my name to an English name after getting GC before becoming a USC.

My name will be Mandie Min Law, and Min Wang is my Chinese name.

Any suggestion or experience will be appreciated!!

    Thanks!!
