David and I are going back to the Philippines this June. I have been monitoring the airfare and so far, it's stuck on $1500+ per person, round trip. It's way too expensive but we'll still go and make that trip. We're hoping though that by the time we finally want to book the flight, it will be a little cheaper. Who knows... who knows...
Mae, Mira and I are visiting the Philippines in April. Yes, fares are more expensive than last year at the moment. I did a lot of searching to find the cheapest possible and got an $875 round trip including taxes etc from LA to Manila on Cathay Pacific. Eva Air are running specials from Seattle through May if you can still find seats, 650 plus tax is the lowest. www.bt-store.com also can find good deals on their search engine. Phillippine airlines usually has a low fare for one way immigrants from Manila. Hope this helps, good luck.

Here in Arizona, an international drivers license is not valid. The local DMV issued Pao a drivers license but only made it valid until the I-94 expired. Even the DMV supervisor was vague about what we could do before the arrival of her green card in order to get her driving privelages extended.. any ideas on this?
Hi Bill, I did not read any rule that says drivers licenses for visa holders valid only until I94 expires. What I found out for Mira is, She can apply for an instructional license with 2 forms of ID ( passport and SSN) the instructional license is good for 12 months. Of course the driver has to be accompanied by a full license driver over 21. You might want to ask sheriff Uhling he may know more. Heh how does Pao like Tucson? Mira loves it here!!

We finally got out snail mail for biometrics.. 6/08.
What do you have to fill out on the form for biometrics? Basic information or do you have to have your paperwork handy to answer it? My husband's letter said he only has to bring that one form and id.. nothing else? (NOA1s??)
Sorry I'm just nervous because I won't be there with him and I've bascially handled all the paperwork so far. I don't want him to get to the form and not know how to fill it out!
Harry says he filled out: Social security number (which he forgot - and they said that was okay), address, telephone number, parent's first names, his name, hair color, eye color, date of birth, place of birth.
Lucky for him my mom was with him, because he forgot to bring his wallet with his new ID that had all the current information on it. His memory is terrible. I need to get him to memorize at least the address and phone number

I don't have any answers, just a questions. Not that it's of any consequence, but I'm sure readers (including myself) are wondering why your friend has not filed for AOS seven months out, especially when I'm sure they were informed of what was required. What's their story... are they procrastinators, they had other things to do, they hate the bureaucratic nonsense, they ran out of money, they didn't feel like it, they like the extra drama, planned on going back to the beneficiary's country to live and change their minds, they hate filling out forms, they thought the beneficiary would automatically receive citizenship, they didn't care, they wanted to wait to test the knowledge of VJ members, they didn't know, or what? Give us the juicy details!

p.s. - At least they married within 90 days, I've read where folks have filed after 90 days with no repercussions, but not after the visa expired. I'm sure there are a few seasoned VJers that can provide some guidance.
Not sure why Sherrif, Mira didn't give me that part. As a guess, I would say procrastinators. I will ask tomorrow, they are coming to dinner then let you know the "JUICY" details. hehehe!! Thanks to all for your prompt responses.

Just got caught up on recent posts. Glenn we are really sorry to hear of the situation. What can one say about this, it's really sad and our thoughts and prayers go with you and Rosemarie that she is safe. Obviously this was not a spur of the moment decision and Rosemarie had to have help. Now that you have probably had time to let your emotions subside a little, you can think more clearly. Where is the bicycle? Did she have the chance to make any local friends? Does she have friends in other parts of Florida or in other states? You mentioned a cousin in Arizona, could they have made arrangements for her to go there? I think at the least you need an explanation and the TRUTH!! even though it may not be what you want to hear. Hopefully, Rosemarie will contact you herself. Filing a missing persons report is an option, IF you want to find her. WOW, this is a tough one Glen. Hang in there and remember we are all praying for you and Rosemarie here at VJ. AND ROSEMARIE IF YOU ARE READING THIS POST CONTACT YOUR HUSBAND AND LET HIM KNOW YOU ARE SAFE.

Mira and I have a friend who came to the US on a K1 on September 5th 2006. She married her fiance in November 2006. They have not filed AOS and just recently applied for her SSN. She was told her I-94 had expired along with her visa and she could not apply for a SSN. Can someone tell me what the implications of not filing AOS yet after 7 months in US, can they still file her AOS application? and the next steps they need to take. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

PW, glad you bring up the idea of creating a list of Delbros complaints. Even though Mira is now here with me in Tucson I can relate our experience with their recent poor service. Mira's visa was supposedly out for delivery on Monday Feb 26th, to her brothers home in Makati, it was not delivered that day. We started calling Delbros early Tuesday the 27th and got conflicting information from two people we talked with. One person told us that we could not contact the delivery guy as he did not have a cell phone. The second person gave us the name of the delivery guy and a cell phone number which returned no number when dialed. Then Mira received a txt message saying the delivery person was at the address but he was not. Then at 2:30pm we decided to drive to Delbros so we could speak with a supervisor face to face. While driving Mira's brother sent a txt to say it was just delivered at 3:10pm. Fortunately it all worked out ok for our flight booked for the 28th, but I can tell you we panicked for a while there. Service information is poor and unreliable. From other posts in a lot of cases, they cannot find the delivery address. I thought they were supposed to be a delivery service, can't find an address????? what's up with that???? Also, you would think if finding some addresses are a problem, the courier would have reliable mobile communication with his/ her office and the person waiting for the visa delivery. Perhaps Delbros does not provide the employee with a mobile, that they have to provide their personal one????

Well, Judy should be arriving at the embassy now, the new rule about cell phones kinda sucks but I understand it...but now I have to wait till she returns home to find anything out.
If I were a drinking man, now would be a good time...someone can have an extra on my behalf...

for all those who recently come to the US, I hope your adjustment to life here is going well. Yazi and I had planned on an April 28th wedding date, but my dad fell and broke his hip yesterday. tomorrow he needs to have total hip replacement surgery. we'll have to wait till next week to adjust our wedding plans.
anyways, hope everyone here will have a long and happy together with their SO's.
Sorry to here about your Dad. We pray his surgery is successful and his recovery is speedy. Don't leave your wedding date too long, remember it's within 90 days of arrival. Mira arrived Feb 28th and life is really good, I would say she is adjusting better than I expected. Our wedding is April 21st and preparation is consuming most of our time.

just got off the phone with the embassy and was told that the results from the NSO have been forwarded to the consular yesterday march 19. we hope to hear more good news soon. i'm ready to go back home. at least that tells us something is moving

Hi guys! Do you know any hotel which is near the St Luke's Medical Center? I checked Pan Pacific but its booked. Im gonna be having my medical next month with my 3 yrs old son and I would just want to spend the night in a hotel rather than going back and forth from Angeles City. Any input will be very much appreciated, thanks.
Best Western La Carona is about 400 meters from St Lukes and about the same distance to the US Embassy. We stayed there in February.

Greetings Sherrif Uling. I remember recently during a discussion on SSN that you obtained Jens after 10days. I have the form for Mira and we will go to the SS office next week. What I want to know is what reason did you give on the application for requesting a SSN and was it just the I-94 and passport/visa you supplied? Thanks for a response.

Hi! This is Jinky!
We arrived in LAX, Friday, March 2nd and made it through immigration after about 30 minutes. The immigration officer looked very strict and he asked me where is Job's father. I asked him to repeat himself and then he asked if I was married to Job's father. So I just answered him, NO. Before I left, he told me if I don't want to get married that I can always go back to the Philippines...bwahahahaha. He only looked strict but he was okay - he even said, Welcome. So, after that we got our luggage. They didn't even ask for the x-rays.I'm with my Steven now and he took us to an asian market on Saturday where I found so many home products - kangkong, calderita mix, chicken feet, and Filipino foods. I even bought Datu Puti vinegar...hehehe.
At the back of our churches weekly announcements, I found 3 Filipino dentists in our area. The church we go to has a community of Filipino's and Vietnamese.
I'll keep you all updated to a new life here!

Hi All,
Just an update as we have not had a chance to get on the internet until now. PW, Visa delivered Makati Feb 27th (7days). CFO clearance Feb 28th AM, flight to Tucson Feb 28th pm. Mira and I just arrived in our home, thanks to god. POE LAX, no problems. Going to do laundry now, hehehehehe.

Mira is APPROVED. YEAH. We were not prepared for the number of people waiting to get into the Embassy. I thought we would be there all day. I was impressed by the way they moved applicants from one section to another and I was surpised that we were finished at 11:10am. Hope Mike n Jennie and 2hearts have the same news. Post more on the interview later when we climb down off cloud9. hehehe.

K-1 Visa fees raised?

It looks as though they are charging you a Biometrics fee of $80. To stop further delay, submit as they request the $535 and their letter on top of your papers and then argue the extra $80 afterwards. Remember it's a governmet agency you are dealing with.
