Hello! I've read the Direct Consular Filing Guide...but being new I just wanted to clear this up.

I've been living in Thailand for the past 3 years, I have a "domicile" in the United States.

But I am employed by a Thai Company. In other words, my income is not U.S. based and will not continue once I return to the United States. Does this directly disqualify me for DCF filing?

I assume it does...but I just want to make sure.

I'm living in Thailand but I wish to return to the United States with my fiancee.

My main concern is him being able to work as soon as possible once we go to the states.

Since I'm in Thailand, I could get married now and file for the K-3 visa. Or, I could return home on the K-1 visa.

Is there a forum or a thread that addresses choosing between these two visas?

Which visa will allow him to work in the U.S. faster? Do I have to be married for a certain amount of time before he would be allowed to apply?

I assume alot of newbies have the very same questions as me! What do you recommend me to do, to find these answers on my own? Thread/forum or book you think I should buy?! Thanks

Hi everyone! My name's Caroline and my fiancee's name is Joey. We've been living and dating in Bangkok for the past two years... and I've got the sudden itch to return home to the U.S.A.

So, now we're going through the whole visa process. Actually, I've yet to truly begin because I'm still sifting through loads of internet sites that explain exactly what I have to do. So this site is a godsend!

I'm still not sure if we're going back married or engaged, as I've yet to figure out what's the quickest road to ensure that he can work also. I'm going back as a teacher, and although I'm self-sufficient in Thailand, I'm a little worried it won't be quite as easy in the U.S.! Woohoo!

Anyways, I'm thrilled to find this site, and it looks like those "FAQ" and "Guides" are probably a good idea to read before I start moaning my confusion.
