I was in a similar situation. NVC requested for a marriage certificate. I wrote to them explaining the situation. NVC approved and DQ it.

At my mom's interview, the consular requested for marriage certificate. I got a notarized affidavit of marriage from two people who were present at the time of marriage and sent it to the embassy.

I just checked the status of my mom's visa and its been issued today.

Congratulations to you and your mom. They DQ’d my mom’s as well and we are waiting for the interview date. Thanks for sharing

I wonder if you could also write a letter to NVC stating that your parents were married and divorced traditionally and that there are no documents.

Since your mom wasn’t remarried, in my mind there is less necessity to show that the marriage was dissolved at a particular point. Your father’s death certificate would show that they are no longer married.

Thank you DRJ. I sent them a letter and I am waiting for their response and I will get my dad’s death certificate too. Thanks

    Hello all,

My spouse picked up his passport today from DHL and it did not include the sealed immigrant visa packet. Supporting documents he submitted were returned to him (police report, affidavit of support, IRS tax returns).  Is he expected to receive the sealed immigrant packet at the airport, Embassy, or somewhere else?  He is traveling tonight and we are not sure if he is all set without having that.

Hi, quick question with regards to DHL

Do I have to register with DHL before the interview?

Affidavit is something needed. DNA is something they will take also if you don’t have anything to prove that she is your mother.

I didn’t add any other evidence except my birth certificate.

My baptismal card didn’t have her name on there, most of the documents didn’t, so they aren’t conclusive therefore as they stated that if the other evidence are inconclusive DNA will be used.

The affidavits, there’s no one available at this time who was a witness to my birth. I am hoping they ask for DNA since that’s the perfect way to prove she’s my mother.

  5. Hey guys

I have my interview coming up

I have all documents required ready but my Bank statements are printed online so are the utility bills, life insurance

I hope, not having the originals wouldn’t be a problem

And also I picked 4-5 month statements every year since it’s 4 years of each statements and I have 3 bank accounts with my spouse, and several utility bills

    Hey all,

I received an interview notice today for my I-751 for March 30. It will be a combined interview along with my N-400. I received two separate interview notices for the same day and time for both applications.

My interview is coming up too but I don’t have originals of all my documents like the utility bills since i do paperless billing, will that be a problem
