Thank you for letting me know. We are now at the 23 months waiting mark. All inquiries yield nothing other than they are ready to be scheduled for an interview as of Oct 2nd. I really do not want to spent even more money on a writ-of-mandamus… but do feel anxious.

JeanneAdil, it states „in most cases“ but the kids acquired their citizenship under SOFA/ military overseas orders and count as residing in the US.

We have been waiting for almost two years and spent the last two months to wait for the next available interview slot. I am not sure why but when we filed the n-600, we had Washington DC (Fairfax) as our USCIS field center. It was changed to San Diego, our previous address. We are currently residing overseas and I would like to change it to our local address. Would this cause mayhem or further delay? Possibly a change of USCIS field center again?

So, we have not received a letter at all. There was never a document uploaded to their account. However, upon inquiring, USCIS responded by email saying, they would now reschedule the interview. I honestly believe the status should probably be "ready to be scheduled" but for some reason, whoever worked on it, clicked on the wrong button. I am still concerned about the average processing time of said field center being 14.5 month but we are at 22 months waiting time now with no end at sight. I have just printed out the inquiry form for our congressmen to initiate their support. I'll update when and if things start moving along again.

The US General Consulate in Frankfurt does indeed issue I-551s (Greencards) for dependents of active military members. It would definitely not fall into the jurisdiction of Germany as military members stationed in Germany are not accounted for. They are not registered, international students or about to hold jobs on the economy etc (all required for residency). Hence, spouse wants indeed join OP on US base (which one could argue is US territory)?

He is considered residing in the US while under overseas orders. Wouldn’t one be able to make such argument?

If you are a legal permanent resident in the US but follow your spouse on their military orders/ under SOFA, you are still considered residing stateside despite being Oconus. We were going through the process in Frankfurt and they are very responsive to inquiries.

We are at 22 months now. I had expected up to 12 months. Its frustrating as one child got the notification "interview is scheduled" but USCIS 1tier agent says it was a mistake and we are routed for interview scheduling. I am inclined to believe her as no notification showed up in my daughters USCIS account. However, there is this nagging feeling of "what if"? What if it was scheduled but we never received a letter nor was the notification uploaded to her document tab.

I honestly didn’t make this mistake consciously. It was a question pertaining to USCIS notifications and not the n-600 per se. So, I didn’t think this question would fit into the other threat. Anyway, my take-away is that any question, be it USCIS account related or n-600 should for now fall into this threat. I wish we had a n-600 group as we had with our I-130 or n-400 back in the day. One does feel a little lonely out there.

USCIS is now saying they made a mistake and the interview has been requested not scheduled yet. (It's a real cliff hanger. How am I ever going to live a normal life without fretting over USCIS? I may have to apply for a job there.) Seriously, though.

The reason why they are asking this, is because on the day of your naturalisation your child became a US citizen as well if said child was a LPR at the time of your naturalization, in the US, with you having legal and physical custody. It seems USCIS is struggling to determine if your child was with you and in your custody at the time.

Can I trust USCIS mailing the letter and uploading the notice on the USCIS account?

It’s actually an n-600 interview for a minor child.

APO address is not "Italy" but actually considered to be on US territory if you are on your husbands orders (which you are).

I was able to get a military ID without my social security number. I had to renew my ID every 3 months until the SSN arrived (and at some point, the processing facility just ignored the three months renewal and gave me a four year version). I did hear, however, that military bases have different approaches. NAB in San Diego asked us to wait until my CR-1 is adjucated. However, when my husband renewed his ID at a different office a couple weeks later, he was told that I should make an appointment and come it to get my ID with him asap. Same with different branches. I had to bring our marriage certificate, my international birth certificate and two government IDs.

We used our APO address on some of our communication. The filing documents differentiate between physical and mailing address, if this helps. For my kiddos n-600 package, we used our APO address but USCIS changed it to a family address in the US. Not sure why.

Perhaps I can shed some light into the DCF timelines in Germany: We submitted my children's I-130s on May 2021 via Direct Consular Filing to the US General Consulate in Frankfurt, received a notification to submit the DS 260s in July and were ready for an interview in August. All in all, it could have taken less then 10-12 weeks. This is between submitting the I-130 and having your I-551 stamped into your passport. We slowed down the process a little due to family matters. If the process isn't moving along in the US and the financial situation allows it, perhaps resubmit via Frankfurt? You could immediately start with the process as your LPR status is not considered abandoned while on overseas orders (as long as you are mentioned on his orders). You usually take your passport on base and the passport office provides you with the Sofa card added to your passport if you are submitting a foreign passport.

I have a question regarding a notification on the USCIS account - it states as of Oct 2nd "interview scheduled" but when I called today, I was told, it is in line to be scheduled. Perhaps I am too concerned but I am super worried about missing a letter or notification as everything is being sent to a family member stateside. I had expected the notification document to be uploaded on our USCIS account but it hasn't. Also, the tier 1 agent said, it hasn't been scheduled yet. Has anyone insights into USCIS providing reliable information on this level? Should I approach it differently? I would hate to be calm about the notification believing it will eventually and then accidentally end up missing my daughters interview.

I filed two n--600 petitions 12 months ago for both of my children. I have yet to hear anything back other than a receipt notice. Is there anyway I can find out which field center is behind the IOE case number'? I am wondering why it takes so long.
