Yes, you can ... again on NOA 2
Back in Dec/Jan - I reported that there was no hitch at all visiting my fiancé in Hawaii while waiting for our NOA2.
People here expressed their concern that it will be harder to visit once NOA2 has been received. I just wanted to share my experience in case you are contemplating on visiting your sweetheart in the US.
Our application got approved Feb. 1st, I entered US Feb. 13 (yesterday) - it was the smoothest US Customs experience ever. As in Ever. Of all my numerous travels to the US, this is the first time that the CO did not ask me a single question. CO looked at my passport, looked at his computer screen, stamped & returned my passport and said Have a good trip. That's it.
Flew with Air Canada/United Air out of Toronto (Pearson International Airport).
Hope this will help ease some of your apprehensions if you are thinking of meeting up with your loved one. <3
(as usual, I came prepared with employment letter, lease, etc.. to show strong ties with Canada, just in case)
How long did uour process take?
Did you use a service like rapidvisa?
Have you planned a wedding date yet?
My fiance and i are shooting for August 4th and sending in the I129 Monday when I return from Japan....praying POTUS CHEETOFACE doesn't hold things up too much for us.

Do I apply for this atvthecsame time as the K1?

What is a VWP?
10 minutes ago, Boiler said:I she has access to the VWP she can come and get married in August and then go back and you apply for a CR1, takes about a year so no issue with meeting.
What is a VWP?

Hey guys....we are trying to plan things and we have a bit of a tight schedule.
I'm submitting the application for the K1 at the end of January because we have her company meeting in Miami at the beginning of April and she won't be ready to leave Japan yet. Then we have her company convention end of July in Orlando which the plan is for after t hat to move here with me and get married 2 weeks later.
1. Fiance lives in Japan.
2. Her son has only August off Get on college so we want to plan our wedding for August.
3. She has a meeting for her work end of November in Japan that she can't miss.
What do we need to file so she can get back to Japan for her meeting and not make our wedding and marriage invalid?

Thank you for posting this, my fiance is from Scotland as well so reading your experience and following your timeline is very interesting!
When did you 1st submit your application to begin the process I am trying to figure out a close time line to plan our wedding. And we really don't want my fiancee's K1 approved before may 2018

IO= Immigration Officer, POE= Point of Entry or Port of Entry. Is Japan on the VWP, aka Visa Waiver Program?
thank you for clarifying for me

Can I ask, if your fiance is on the VWP, and they visit you, is this information available to IO's at POE? I'm not advocating being deceitful, I just don't understand why one can't be brief with their answers like during any normal visit? Is it advisable to only bring up/out K1 paperwork if you're being grilled or taken into secondary?
My fiance is about the most honest person I have ever known... (example my daughter's cell phone died... just stopped working.... the warranty repalces if lost or stolen but not for software issues- the Apple Store guy said tell them you lost it... my fiance was appalled that they said this... I would NEVER lie about it... I went to verizon they said they'd replace it and they did but she wanted to make sure I didn't lie about it even though the guy at the Apple store said to- I didn't lie about it.. the warranty was through Verzon and it's good--- just letting you know she's so honest.)
Now what is VWP... I don't know these acronyms... IO's and POE? sorry for my ignorance

We are trying to plan our wedding in mid Augustc2018.
My fiance and i just booked a US cruise for mid April and she has her company convention in Orlando Do last week of July. Then another Convention in Japan over thanksgiving 2018.
So if we are trying to plan to plan to get married mid August about when should we send in the K1 Visa Application so it's not approved before our April Cruise...and do you think her green card should be approved in time for her to go to Japan in November???
-
So once we get an approval for her K1...
then we go apply for a marriage license?
How long does that take?
Do we have to be marries by a justice of the peace?...or can ee get married by anyone ordained?
Once we get married do ee file a separate application for her green card or is there something else to file/apply for?

1) There is a six month expiration date on the visa. Before the expiration date she has to enter the US.
2) The 90 days goes in once she uses the K-1 to enter the US. For example, I entered the US with my K-1 on July 29th. I had until October 27th to get married, so exactly 90 days.we are trying to plan our wedding for the end of August to the middle of September... just a sentimental time we are trying to plan for... with that in mind when would be the ideal time to submit our application?
Also...then she has to go back to Japan for work for a week on November...I was just told that will not be possible and that she will have to stay here, that we can't leave the country for 6 months after we are married... does this mean we can't take a honeymoon ?
-
So I popped the Big Question on July 29th as originally planned... the details of how I popped it were changed last minute but it ended up even better... and she said yes with tears and she loves her ring and can't wait for us to be married.
Anyway, I completed my K1 application but haven't submitted it yet since the plan is to try to get approval so we can get married either late August or early September 2018.Here's the question... we have the Zumba cruise leaving out of Miami in April and then the 2018 Zumba Convention is the end of July. Assuming the application is approved After April but before the Orlando Fl. convention end of July... the clock starts ticking once the K1 is approved or once she comes to the US... assuming Orlando end of July... we have 90 days from that date to get married?

Feb to August is only 6 months, your visa will not even have been processed yet. i would recommend oct or nov of this year to have your application in. that will put you around june or so of 2018 when you get approved. you then have 6 months to have her travel here (of which you would only use 2 or 3 of) and again, once she enters the US, you need to be married within 90 days.... so if she enters the US with the visa before July, you would have to get married before your wedding date
OK so now I'm concerned with something... timeline questions
I apply in October/ November-
we have a work cruise in April 2018... then we have a company convention in Orlando end of July...
if her Visa is approved in June or July we only have 90 days from that point which mean we might have to move the date up sooner or can we have these cruise/ convention whithout any hiccups?

WOW holy #######... I just saw the list of what she needs for the medical interview... does she need to bring with her... I don't mean these
Your visa interview appointment letter,
Your passport,
Four (4) recently taken passport-sized color photographs, and
A copy of your immunization records
That's the easy part... in my opinion... as long as the doctors don't put her appointment off by 6 months.
OMG
Please use the list below to determine the items that every applicant must bring to the immigrant visa interview: A “LetterPack Plus” self-addressed, prepaid envelope (available at most post offices). Please write “documents” on the “Contents Descriptions” field and include a local address. We will use this to return your passport after the interview. A copy of your NVC interview letter (does not apply to Diversity Visa, fiancé(e), adoptive, or asylee/refugee applicants). Unexpired passport valid for six months beyond your intended date of entry to the United States and a photocopy of the biographic page (where your name and photo are located). Two (2) color passport-size photographs of each person applying for a visa (5 cm x 5 cm, or 2 inch x 2 inch). Please review our online photo requirements. Confirmation page from the Form DS-260 Application for an Immigrant Visa you submitted online at ceac.state.gov/iv. Your original birth certificate, English translation, and a photocopy. Medical examination results in a sealed envelope (if the physician gives you these results). Applicants who fall into any category listed in italics below should bring these additional documents: For family-based visa applications: The appropriate Form I-864 Affidavit of Support for each financial sponsor along with a photocopy of the sponsor’s IRS transcript or most recent U.S. federal income tax return, and any relevant W-2s. If more than one person is travelling on the case, a photocopy of the Form I-864 and supporting documents must be provided. Proof of your U.S. petitioner’s status and domicile in the United States (photocopy of a U.S. passport, naturalization certificate, or lawful permanent resident card). Evidence of the relationship between the petitioner and visa applicant (such as photographs, letters, or emails). If you are married: Your original marriage certificate, English translation, and a photocopy. If you were previously married: Your original divorce or spouse’s death certificate, English translation, and a photocopy. If you are older than 16 years of age: The original police certificate from your country of current residence and countries of previous residence. Your Japanese Police Certificate should be in a sealed envelope. If the seal is broken, the certificate is no longer valid. If these three items are all true, you must bring a more recent certificate to the interview: 1. You are older than 16 years; 2. You obtained a police certificate more than one year ago; and 3. You still live in the country that issued the police certificate. For employment-based visa applications: Letter from your U.S. employer dated less than one month ago. If you have ever been convicted of a crime: Court and criminal records, English translation, and a photocopy. If you have served in any country’s military: Military records, English translation, and a photocopy. If you are adopted: Adoption papers or custody documents, English translation, and a photocopy. If you are the petitioner’s stepchild: The original marriage certificate of the petitioner and your biological parent, English translation, and a photocopy along with divorce records for any previous marriages of either parent.
they want divorce decrees... I hope she can find her's... I have no idea where mine is.

Shortly before the interview.
Visa isn't granted until the medical is completed by an approved physician.
what is the medical...just a basic physical? or anything else?
-
1 minute ago, KierenHby said:
Technically, the 6 month visa expiration date starts ticking from the date of the medical, but if she has the medical close to interview date, shouldn't be much of an issue overall.
And when/ where does the medical take place?

Some of these come later in the process.
Bear in mind that targeting a specific date for a wedding can be a little dangerous if you're aiming for a big one.
In our case we'd targeted a date once we had an idea how long it was going to take, but we made sure with the venue (hotel) and other suppliers that we could change the date if we gave them a month or more's notice. We deliberately booked a Sunday at the venue as these are low demand so we could not be blocking a date that would likely be in demand by other people. Most of our family were travelling either from Europe, or hundreds of miles away in US, so didn't need to be at work the next day.
It wasn't a massive wedding, about 40 people, but we had close friends and family from both sides, from several countries and it was much nicer than a court house quickie.
We had friends and family booking flights and hotels once I'd had the interview arranged (we were pretty sure nothing would go wrong), but it is a bit stressful until you have visa in hand.
So when you send in the I-129F... are you sending in the other forms or do they request those forms at a later date?... I'm looking at your timeline and I don't see the other forms listed .. Just alot of NOA1 and NOA2, NVC and some other acronyms
