  1. Does anyone have suggestions about how to make flight arrangements? I will go to Guangzhou for my wife's interview and will stay in China visiting family for two weeks after. We want fly back together on the same flight. Since they say don't get tickets before the interview then how should  we make these travel arrangements?

This is how the 公证处 did our marriage certificate and birth certificate in our white books. Is that acceptable? It doesn't say exactly as the NVC, Embassy or USCIS specifies. The signature and stamp is only on the Chinese original part.

The Civil office also said they don't have jurisdiction to tell the translation department to put those statements he way we are asking for as specified by US government.

  3. I have two white books from the gong zheng chu 公证处 , for birth certificate and marriage certificate but the question is that in the translation section it states that the translation is accurate but not that the translator is competent as specified and the signature and seal is only on the Chinese version in the first half of the books and not on the translation.

Everything I've seen states those requirements so we're trying to figure out if my wife needs to take them back and get stamps and signatures on the translation. We got them done while I was there last year.

The guy there is quite difficult and my wife pretty certain that they won't do that. Based on the drama encountered there so far.

  4. Is there anything in Chinese from the embassy site that explains that the translation needs those certified statements "this translation is accurate and  the translator competent with signature" My wife is in Heyuan and the civil office people are always giving a hard time about meeting the requirements and even getting these documents. Like saying we're making stuff up and they never heard of such things and all kinds of #######.

  5. So my wife has gotten her police record or no criminal record document.

As far as the translation. She is a professional translator/interpreter.

Can she translate that document her self as long as she has the statement that she is competent and the translation is accurate accompanied by her signature?

  6. So finally we received our approval notice and our case is being sent to NVC, after 7months.

The question is regarding my wife's criminal records document.  She had previously gotten one for working out of the country so we used that!in out petition.

This no criminal record document is said to be valid for a year. According to that it expired in April since a year was this past April.

So now that the case is being sent to NVC does that mean that we will get an RFE and have to get a new criminal record document?

Also my wife told me that the police gave her hell about getting this document saying they were unfamiliar with such a document and gave her massive drama about it.

This is in the City of Heyuan, China.

Any tips about getting that criminal record if needed?

  7. The debt was accumulated after we got married. My wife made the stupid mistake of trusting socalled friends and relatives and got a bunch of loans to help them out and believed they would pay her back within the time they said they would but none did.

I advised against it but she didn't listen so her we are. She has been making payments though. She loaned more than I knew though and didn't ask because she knew I was against it. I just found out the full amount today.

She borrowed money to help people. She has a problem with not wanting to disappoint people when the come to her for help. People take advantage. She had to learn the hard way....

  8. Hi,

I am in the process of applying for my wife's CR-1 Visa and today I just found out that she has a $23,000. 00 debt.

She is in China and I am in the US. Will she be denied a  visa or will she be blocked from leaving from the China side? Is there any thing we can do? Paying it is the obvious part but the time it would take to do that is a serious problem if we can't be together until these.
