  1. Will keep everyone updated after our second try. All your advice is helpful, so we are doing our best to help give her evidence to show her ties to her home country. Thank you all. :) Just a random note, she is going to be getting married probably next year, but not engaged yet, which is why I considered she should say that, but now I don't think that is the best option!

    1) Never lie to anybody in immigration.

    2) You don't live in the US, so you don't qualify to be a sponsor on an I-134.

    3) Nobody can sponsor a tourist. Right from DOS, which is responsible for all embassies and consulates:

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html

" Note: Visa applicants must qualify on the basis of the applicant's residence and ties abroad, rather than assurances from U.S. family and friends. A letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not needed to apply for a visitor visa. If you choose to bring a letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support to your interview, please remember it is not one of the factors used in determining whether to issue or deny the visa. "

    Thank you! Very useful info!

  3. Hi, Thank you for your advice. I am considering filing form I-134, affidavit of support for her. Thoughts? Also and my husband and I do not live in the U.S., so I'm not sure that her ties with me would make a difference. We are also planning to provide proof of employment for the factory where she is working. Not sure if this will help, but we are going to try again!

  4. Hello everyone,

My husband and I are planning to have our wedding this summer in July of 2018. My husband's family is in Cambodia and applied for B1/B2 tourist visa's for our wedding. HIs parents, 1 aunt, and 1 niece all applied. His niece is the only one who can speak English, but she was denied and the others approved. They said she didn't show significant ties to her home country. We are going to reapply right away, and I'm going to write an affidavit letter of support and have it notarized, also we are going to have her bring her school schedule showing her final exams are in July AFTER our wedding, and that she must come back to complete her University and graduate. Also we are showing that she is working in the family business and wants to stay in the business. My question is, would it be helpful to also say she is engaged to be married in Cambodia, even though she isn't? And, is there anything else I can do to help her attain the tourist visa besides sending the letter of support and preparing her for how to answer the questions to convince them she wants and needs to come back to Cambodia? Thanks in advance for any help or advice!!!

  5.  I am a US citizen and my fiance is a Cambodian national and we both live in Korea. My fiance already obtained is tourist visa to go to the USA this summer for my brother's wedding .So now we are considering getting married in the USA small this time and still going back for our ceremony about 1 year later. When he applies for a visa again, it will be for coming to the USA for our wedding ceremony. What kind of visa should we apply for the wedding ceremony if he is not planning on immigrating? Is a tourist visa our only option? Thank you.

  6. I have a question about getting married on a B1/B2 visa. I am a US citizen and my fiance is a Cambodian national and we both live in Korea. My fiance already obtained is tourist visa to go to the USA this summer for my brother's wedding. We were planning on doing paperwork to get married in Korea when we came back, but now because of Cambodian law, we found out we can't do this.....So now we are considering getting married in the USA small this time and still going back for our ceremony about 1 year later, but I don't know if it will be a problem, and also if it will be a problem later that we got married while he was on a visitor visa? When he applies for a visa again, will it be for coming to the USA for our wedding ceremony. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

  7. My boyfriend (Cambodian) is planning to enter the U.S. on a tourist visa B1/B2 on June 22 to meet me, but the visa is only valid until June 23rd. I didn't know how long it would take and we applied too early I guess. Anyway, will this affect the period of stay on his I-94? He is going to attend my brother's wedding, and planning to stay for about 2 weeks total to do tourist things. He has his PhD, so I don't think it will be a problem, but I'm not sure if they look at the visa, and if they will deny him to stay for 2 weeks because of the visa time period. Should we renew his visa before he goes? Thanks in advance for any help!
