    I was a bit worried to about studying. When I received the study booklet after my biometrics I was like, how am I going to memorize all 100 question and answer. But it was easy! I made my own flashcards and asked my husband to read the flashcards for me and I answer. I would also listen to the audio CD that came with the study guide while I drive. I did all that two weeks prior to my interview. Good luck! :) 

    Another Oath Ceremony Question

    UPDATE: I am finally a US citizen as of yesterday!! So relieved that I am finally done with USCIS. The ceremony was short but sweet in an old courthouse building in Chattanooga TN with 37 applicants from 10 to 15 different countries. I am probably the only applicant there with 13 family members. HA! But it was fun to have my family(in-laws) there to celebrate my citizenship. If my original ceremony date wasn't cancelled, it would have been just me, my husband and 3 other family members. So, I guess, the snow storm last month was a blessing in disguise. Plus, Chattanooga was only under 2 hour-drive from where I live as opposed to Memphis which is a 4-hour drive.

    Hello, everyone! Yesterday was the day I have been waiting for! After a cancelled oath ceremony due to inclement weather, yesterday I was finally naturalized!! I am a US citizen!! It was such a great feeling and the weather couldn't have been more perfect! It was a short and sweet ceremony in an old courthouse building in Chattanooga TN with 37 applicants from 10 to maybe 15 different countries.The courtroom was full of proud families and friends. 

     

    I am so happy its over and that I don't have to deal with USCIS anymore! Best of luck to those who are still waiting! :) <3

    It is easier than you think! I suggest making your own flashcards and listen to audio whenever you can. I listen to it for two weeks before my interview in my car wherever I go.

    Today I had my interview for naturalization in NYC. The interviewer just asked some baking questions in regards to my application, briefly tested my English and very quickly quizzed me on the U.S. History. I was in and out of her office in about 10 minutes. 

     

    She gave a sheet with a checkbox selected where it says "Congratulations, your application is recommended for approval". Does that mean it has not been approved yet? I mean, is there anything that could possibly go wrong with it at this point? 

     

    He said I will receive a final answer within 120 days (Hopefully it will come much quicker). 

     

    For the folks who have received this notification, how long does it normally take to get the "final approval" and from that moment, how long will it take for the Oath? (I know thids might vary by state, but any ballpark idea would be appreciated).

    I got the same recommended for approval form. After a week, I received a text/email notification that I'm in-line for an oath and then 6 days after that, I received another text/email notification that my oath ceremony has been scheduled.

    January 2018 - Houston Oath Ceremony

    So I called the 800 number again today and explained the situation to CSR. She was able to lookup the status that Oath Ceremony is scheduled for 14th so she asked for a fax number and after providing the fax number she said that I should receive a fax today or by Monday morning at latest.

     

    I have found at least one other applicant whose status changed on 19th January and did not receive the letter. She also called today and they are sending her a fax copy too. So I guess, something happened on 19th where somehow letters did not go out for status changes.

    Yay!! Such an awesome news! I'm so glad that you finally get it resolved. Persistence always pays off. 

    January 2018 - Houston Oath Ceremony

The problem I see is that if they don't give me the letter, She'll miss the ceremony and we'll be stuck again with them to reschedule it because of no fault of our own but they will say we missed it.

    I'm so sorry you have to go through this! Can you call them on the 11th(Sunday)? I didn't know they are available on weekends. I would call them again on Friday and demand it(in a nice way, of course). 

    Calendar/Schedule of Oath Ceremony Dates for a particular Field Office

    I did some research about that after my original oath ceremony date was cancelled due to inclement weather. I simply googled upcoming oath ceremony schedule dates in my state. Where do you live? Or what is your field office?

    My wife on the other hand, her status changed to Oath Ceremony Scheduled on 19th January, and since then no document online or in snail mail. I'm getting a little worried about it that they somehow messed up her documents.

    Another Oath Ceremony Question

    Update: I have been making phone calls since yesterday regarding my oath ceremony. Yesterday, I called Nashville District Court(since I am closer to Nashville) and Memphis District Court regarding the next scheduled ceremony for February. Today, I finally get to talk to an officer and told me to send back the notice and write an explanation as to why I did not appear to my oath ceremony. I mentioned to the officer a couple of times that it was not my fault, that the ceremony was cancelled due to inclement weather. She still recommend me to write a letter and send it to Memphis right away or they will think I am abandoning my case(abandoning?! It wasn't my fault the ceremony was cancelled!!). I then ask her what if I did mail an explanation and request of reschedule after Memphis had already reschedule it for me, wouldn't that make a confusion on Memphis Office's end? Mind you, there were no instructions in the notice I received, it just said that USCIS will notify me with date and time of my rescheduled ceremony. 

     

    But, I did get a call back from Memphis District Court of the next ceremony and it will be on the 15th of next month. Also, Nashville District court called me regarding the next ceremony and the lady said that USCIS Memphis mailed the notice yesterday with date and time of my next oath ceremony. 

     

    So, I went from excited because I get to talk to an officer, to frustrated because I'm going to have to write a letter even though it wasn't my fault my ceremony was cancelled, to happy, to confused... I am going to wait for this notice in the mail and hopefully it will be my scheduled ceremony!! 

     

    I am so ready for this to be over!!
