  1. No, my passport expiry date was 29 Dec 2017 ,and you need your passport to be valid for at least 6 months to be able to travel, so in September i sent them an email , reminding them of my passport expiry date and asking them if i can renew it now and send them the new passport, so i can avoid any travelling problems in the future , they answered saying that they will send me my passport to renew it , and i should keep it with me til they require it again

so my passport is currently with me

  2. well , they never tell you the reasons

at the end of march 2017 i got a call from the embassy asking for my passport , new medical and police certificate , and when i asked if our case was approved , the was yes, i submitted the required documents , but nothing happened since that time , just one last update on CEAC website when they got the documents,in that update the case became non immigrant instead of immigrant and case creation date changed and became same as case last update date 12 April

and since that day we are stuck , inquiries , lawyers and even congressman office couldn't do any thing to help or even to give us any idea about what is going on

for your last question , my answer is yes , there were some cases on AP forum that took more than a year and then they got approved , so Good Luck for all of us

What we need is a number for the embassy IV unit, that's for sure.

they have a lot of numbers and that is confusing
    that one is from embassy website " Telephone: (20-2) 2797 3300 "
and this one was included in the emails the Cairo IV unit sent me before "
For Assistance, please call: +20-2-3531-1460 or 16872 (from within Egypt)."
and those are the contact information of US embassy in cairo , that are mentioned on this website " Visa Issuance Inquiries only through 090070600
(Call Service Center in Cairo) from 8:00 AM to 11:00
    Immigrant Visa unit : 27972301
or from the United States:011+20+22+797+2200 1pm-3pm (Egypt time) Sunday - Thursday except the last Tuesday of every month and holidays.1 pm - 3 pm "

I don't know which one we should use ?

  4. Actually i'm in AP since December 2016, we had several updates , til end of March 2017 , when i got a call from the embassy, asking me to send them my passport , updated police and medical checks , i asked if our case was approved , and they answered yes
i submitted everything they asked for on 11 April , then the last update happened on 12 April, our case changed from IV to NIV , and case creation date was changed to become 12 April , same as Case last update date.
usually that is supposed to be a good sign , and i should have got my visa a long time ago , but unfortunately my case is stuck there since that moment.
i tried everything , me , our lawyer , the senator office submitted many inquires , but we got the same answer every time " your case is under mandatory processing " , there are other people here who suffer the same exact situation like @Super Uber , we did everything we can , but nothing changed

Guy help please what th difference between case number and ds-160 i check the both on ceac,, on iv and niv and they both show the same status ap can anyone help me please

CASE ID is the case number you got from NVC mail NOA2 , it starts with CRO########## for Cairo embassy

DS-160 number , is a number mentioned in your DS-160 application confirmation page , you will find it under a bar-code

the IV cases uses the case ID to check on CEAC web site

the NIV cases uses the DS-160 number

since K-1 Visa is kind of IV and NIV , you can check using both methods and you will get the same answer
