  1. Got the Interview letter today

    Kud:

    Congratulations to you, too!!

Even we are from different country origin, apply from different center, lives in different state, etc, we have the similar process and will finally reach the same goal.

There are 100 civic questions. As long as you are prepared, it is easy to pass.

    Good luck.

  2. Finally, the interview letter has arrived, the date: 4/25/08 at 1:30 PM, I better start studying .....

My interview notice just arrive today.

I think I have chance to vote for President of US on November, 2008. *Yuhooo*

20080323 Interview Notice Date (note. it is 110+ days. Not within 100 days, but acceptable)

    20080327 Received Interview NOA

    20080520 Interview Date

  3. If you read the testimony from the head of the USCIS,you will know the average process time for N-400 has been prolonged from 7 month to 18 month. Conseqeuntly, the ETA of Citizenship for January 2008 filers will be around July of 2009.

In this case, all January 2008 filers will not be able to participate the vote for US President of 2008 on November.

So, be peaceful! Just put this out of your mind as long as you have your fingerprint done like I did and review this one year later.

    Good luck.

So, be peaceful! Just put this out of your mind as long as you have your fingerprint done like I did and review this one year later.

  5. Just wondering how much time it is taking these days for citizenship process. Is N400 is also backloged like I-751.Approximately how many months

    Thanks

-- abstract from USCIS official website ---

USCIS has received a significant increase in the number of applications filed. In July and August, nearly 2.5 million applications

and petitions of all types were received. This compares to 1.2 million applications and petitions received in the same time period

last year. This fiscal year, we received 1.4 million applications for naturalization; nearly double the volume we received the year

before. The agency is working to improve processes and focus increased resources, including hiring approximately 1,500 new

    employees, to address this workload.

As a result, average processing times for certain application types may be longer. In particular, naturalization applications filed

after June 1, 2007 may take approximately 16-18 months to process.

  6. I just to clarify a few things before I send int my N400 application.

    2. I was out of the country for a total of 125 days in the past 5 years. Since becoming LPR I have been out of the the country for 3 days + 58 days + 3 days (3 trips) = 64 days. So, do I subtract those 64 days from my 3rd year anniversary of my LPR before filing or am I good on that account?

    3. My 3rd year anniversary to being a LPR is 01/27/08. Can I go ahead and mail my application in now? or wait till 01/27/08 to mail it in?

I know my question may sound familiar, but I did search the forum and wasn't sure. Thanks in advance.

    2. I think you are okay to go. Please read the detail N-400 instruction which is downloadable from USCIS.gov website.

    3. You can file it now if you like. As long as you are filling 90 days before 3 year anniversary, your application will be accepted.

  7. hi all, i am not sure if this is not forum to ask this question but anyways.. I am a US citizen and Taiwan citizen (Taiwan allows dual citizenship). ... If anyone had any similar experience, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

DCF works for US Citizenship but not Taiwan Citizenship.

You should apply your wife's registry at Taiwan instead of Taiwan Embassy at Japan.

Since you are citizen of Taiwan, you should have passport of Taiwan. Fly back to Taiwan with your Taiwanese passport when entering custom. Go to relevant government institute to register your marriage with your wife. Consult with local official there in Taiwan. They will give you the detail procedure. She will get her Taiwanese citizenship as long as you are citizen of Tawan. Good luck.

  8. I just received the 10 year GC and I wanted to know what the difference is compared to the conditional GC.

Conditional GC - good for only 2 years and could be extended for another one year.

Normal Green Card - good for 10 years and could be replaced with another 10-years new card.

All rights and privileges are the same for above two cards. Only the effective date length is different.

Correct, but there's another subtle difference.

When the conditional green card expires, the status also expires, unless you apply for removal of conditions. That is, if you don't apply for removal of conditions and you let the card expire, you're deportable.

    ...

When the ten year card expires, the renewal is just an administrative process. You don't have to meet new requirements or prove much of anything, since your status never expired and remains unchanged. Whereas when the two year card and the status it represent both expire, you DO have to prove the relationship was bona fide.

You are absolutely right. Thank you for additional comment.

  9. What i am doing is this:

I took phone statements and highlighted the access number for the calling card every time i dialed it ( both house phone and cell phone )

Then i glued six phone cards on each bill with the access number showing. I have over 60 pages with countless highlights of the number being dialed ..i have hundreds of calling cards.

Of course this along with other evidence.

Do not waste time to think it is okay or not. Just print it out and attach to your petition.

Phone logs could be printed on printer and could be forged by any ways. If you include, it will be a plus. But phone logs are not that important.

So, it is not a important proof of your marriage. Try to concentrate on more important proof such as marriage license, joint financial statement, joint insurance, etc.

  11. It is unbelievable. Even the baby is not yours, as long as you can proof you and your husband/wife are married, you are entitled to get the approval. By that time, We should say you are a great guy to accept the baby of someone. I really can not believe this happen.

Don't you have any convincing documents for them to review? Do not wait until the baby's birth. Try to get as much convincing paper work as possible. Try to persuade them to skip the baby's DNA issue. Tell them even the baby is not yours, you are marring to her/him for love. No matter the baby is yours or not. IT DOSE NOT MATTER!!! It is not only costly but also wasting time. Unless you are also curious about who is this baby's biological father.

    Good luck!!

  12. I have a question about the processing times:

How come the N400 processing times are published with the local offices and not the service centers?

Don't we send the N400 to the respective service center (TSC, CSC, NSC and VSC)?

edited to add: wrong forum, can a mod please move to naturalization forum. thanks.

I do think this is a stupid question. But I sometimes will ask this kind of question, too. Do not worry about that. The service centers are handling the initial paper works which include the data entry, case # creation, biometric appointment scheduling. After that, they will just transfer your application to your local office for interview and ceremony. Each local office has different work load. The service center can not give you appropriate estimate. That is how it works. Good luck.

  13. Hello all,

I was wondering if you could let me know whether you went back 5 or 3 years while filling the Address and Employment fields on the N-400 form given that you are eligible through marriage. I have been reading but I would like to get recent filers feedback.

    Thank you.

I did my N-400 by 5 years. USCIS already have your working history when you file your I-485. Just fill it out as detail and honest as possible if you are a creditable person. Wish you luck.

  14. Today I received the NOA for the N400 appl.

When do they send the biometrics NOA?

I don't know about the biometrics NOA...

Mime is 100 days.... Some people called it TOUCHED date. ...

My priority date is 09/21 2007. That is why mime is 100 days to get 2nd NOA - Interview date notice.

    Wish you luck.

Are we supposed to received a notice for Biometrics?

    Richie07:

Yes. It is NOA2 - ASC Appointment Notice. It is something you have for your I-751.

I am expecting to receive NOA2 soon. Your priority date is behind me. Do not worry, I will post it once I got it.

  15. Today I received the NOA for the N400 appl.

It says that I should be notified of my data and interview place within 180 days of this notice. That means that by June of next year I should have my interview date.

When do they send the biometrics NOA?

wow yours is faster than mine its 240 days..........

I don't know about the biometrics NOA...

Mime is 100 days. USCIS is trying to be as fair as possible. They honor the date they received your application. It is called PRIORITY DATE. Some people called it TOUCHED date. No mater when your check cashed or when you get your NOA, priority date will be the order of process.

My priority date is 09/21 2007. That is why mime is 100 days to get 2nd NOA - Interview date notice.

    Wish you luck.

  16. Today I received the NOA for the N400 appl.

It says that I should be notified of my data and interview place within 180 days of this notice. That means that by June of next year I should have my interview date.

When do they send the biometrics NOA?

Watch out the wordings carefully!! It said " You will be notified of your data and interview place within 180 days of this notice." It did not say you will get interview in no more than 180 days! You will get interview NOA appointment letter within 180 days! The actual interview date might be much longer than 180 days. My I-797 NOA of N-400 has similar wording but it is 100 days, not 180 days. Do not be optimistic about 180 days. That is what I am telling you. Wish you luck...

  17. Hi everyone,

I am in the progress of submitting my I-130 for the very first time. But my wife and I actually got married in July 2007. So we do not have number 1, 2, 3, 4. For number 5, It's hard for me to get. What about number 6? What kind of document are they?

The USCIS now requires that when filing an I-130 for a spouse that you include evidence of a bonifide marriage.

    1. Documentation showing joint ownership or property; or

    2. A lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence; or

    3. Documentation showing co-mingling of financialresources; or

    4. Birth certificate(s) of child(ren) born to you, thepetitioner, and your spouse together; or

    5. Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties havingpersonal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship (Each affidavit must contain the full name and address, date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit, his or her relationship to the petitioner of beneficiary, if any, and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of your marriage); or

    6. Any other relevant documentation to establish that thereis an ongoing marital union.

    1. 2. You should be either owning your current house or leasing current apartment. Have both names in the contract if possible

    3. You can open a banking account together and provide that banking statement to USCIS.

    4. Optional

    5. You can talk to your coworkers or relatives who know your marriage is bona fides.

Let me know if you need form to fill out.

    6. Any corespondent ground stamped greeting cards, letters might be good.

Any document you can find with both you and your's name on them. Try hard, if not many, try to collect and create from now on. For example, Xmas is coming, send out greeting cards to mutual friends and likely they will send you back Xmas card. Then, you got it.

    GOOD LUCK.

  18. Yes, its a NOA.

Any application , I-130, I-129, I-7651, N400, etc. , responded by USCIS is called I-797 (Notice of Action).

No mater what kind of application you apply, either approved or rejected.

    The form is called I-797.

  19. Hi there,

If someone could please tell me how long does it generally take for an interview date and the oath after getting fingerprinted.

    thanks.

I honestly think no one can give you the accurate answer on this question.

I suggest you find someone who is filing for the same service center with you on the same month and see how fast/slow USCIS is moving the whole process. Everyone has to go through this waiting process. Even the past performance of any service center can not guarantee the performance of the future. Don't you know that # of filings for N-400 has been doubled from 1.2 million to 2.4 million for some date range in 2007?

  20. Applications are processed in the order they are received by application type. The average processing times for all applications are posted on our website. ...

USCIS has received a significant increase in the number of applications filed. In July and August, nearly 2.5 million applications and petitions of all types were received. This compares to 1.2 million applications and petitions received in the same time period last year. This fiscal year, we received 1.4 million applications for naturalization; nearly double the volume we received the year before. The agency is working to improve processes and focus increased resources, including hiring approximately 1,500 new employees, to address this workload.

As a result, average processing times for certain application types may become longer. In particular, naturalization applications filed after June 1, 2007 may take approximately 16 - 18 months to process.

    Advisory on Processing Time

So it sounds like to me we're not able to vote for next year election..

We just encounter the significant increase of filing fee. As promised by USCIS,they are going to shrink the processing time from 7 month to 6 month for N-400 application. The money USCIS had received are deposited to their account. If our waiting time is not improved but prolonged to 16-18 month. We should claim for refund of application fee! USCIS should hire more people to accommodate this dramatic increase of volume and fulfill their promise in order to receive our $675 dollars. Don't you agree?

  21. I received my receipt Notice of Action yesterday. At the bottom left corner, there's another LIN # listed. I am curious what it is about. Anybody?

I have that number too. It is something like LIN$00111XXXX. I guess that is their Internal accounting or control number.

We do not have to worry about that number at all. The application number LIN*0011xxxxx should be the only one we need to know and follow.

  22. i know they are all busy and unusual in US CIS, but just wanted to know may be someone knows someting?

there is alot of other codes and numbers on the check, but none starts with 07 or 08?

Don't worry about the codes. It contains the banking data and accounting numbers. You have to worry about the NOA priority date and your case #.

You can check your case status on line and have them send you e-mail automatically where there is any update.

    Rule: 3.6.18.3

#1. you have to married to the same person for the past 3 years.

#2. You can not be out of this country for more than 6 month per year

#3. Total month in US should be at least 18 month in the past 3 years.

#4. You should be in the current state where you file your N400 for the past 3 month.

You violate the rule # 2. Unless you lie to the officer or I got the wrong information from you, your N-400 application will be rejected.

    Good luck.

  23. i'm due my citizenship in dec 2007 and i'm applying for naturalization on the basis of marriage and as i was going through the checklist and i have a question which says:

applying for naturalization on the basis of marriage to a US citizen, send the follow four items:

    1)

documents referring to you and your spouse:

-- tax returns, bank accounts, lease, mortgages, or birth certificates of children, or

-- irs certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past three years, or

-- an irs tax return script for the last three years.

    2)..

    3)..

    4)...

    my question is:

    is that enough to send

birth certificate of our child and mortgages?

    thanks

is that all they need for naturalization? that is, any one of the above three documents?

    Here is suggested list:

    1. Photocopy of both sides of PR card ( must )
    2. Two identical 2”x2” photo with A# in the back by pen ( must )
    3. Check with 595+80 = $675 payable to "U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security" (write A # on the back )
    4. Naturalization certificate of your husband/wife
    5. Marriage certificate ( must )
    6. Divorce document if there is any
    7. Birth certificate of your kid if there is any
    8. Tax returns for past 3 years
    9. Bank account statements for past 3 years
