  1. Hi all, I've been on hiatus for a while, but thought I should complete my data point.

    I naturalized on 4/17/2018!

There were some hiccups along the way, my test/oath appointment was cancelled due to systems being down. Then on the reschedule there was a snow storm so I was able to complete my interview, but was not able to do my oath. Finally, I took my oath at Westwood NJ at a small library. It was a nice small group. I believe there were 17 of us representing 11 countries. Interesting tidbit: I was classified as my birth country rather than my citizenship country. All those still waiting, hang in there, you're time will come.

    Hi Magic,

do you mind sharing your timeline? I have also applied at Newark on June 2, but after fingerprints, I haven't heard anything!

    Hi Coolleo,

I don't have all my dates in one place. I am in the May 2017 filers group. If you click on my name, you should be able to see all my past posts. I updated my progress by posting in pieces, so you should be able to get an idea how long it took me. The being said, it looks like I sent my package out on 5/19/2017.

Hi there! I am actually from the June thread, but there hasn't been much movement over there. Glad to see you getting an interview date for Newark, NJ. I was hoping hubby would get his date for February. But it looks like it may be March. I hope you come back and let us know how it goes and the questions that they ask, especially since our office is the Newark one as well. Congratulations on getting a date by the way! One step closer to the end... :jest:

Hey LifeOnHold, of course I can come back and share my experience. I think Newark is one of the better field offices to have the interview, given that the reviews from others have been positive and the oath is given on the same day as the interviews. To pass the time, you may want to google or search N-400 interview at the Newark office for some posts!

  5. Hi all,

Just as a data point, on 1/6/2018 I received an email and text that I am schedule for an interview and that I should be receiving a letter. I'm still waiting for the letter, which from what I can gather, I should be receiving in the next week or so. My closest field office is Newark, NJ, but I have yet to know where the interview will be held. Hope this helps.

  6. Just revised my sent date. Apparently, I had not sent the latest version of the N400 Form. Had sent a september 2016 version, but seems there is now a december 2016 version. I had started filling it out months ago, and didn't check for an updated version :( . Ah well!

  7. I was in this situation a couple months ago. There was no difference for me waiting a few more months before applying for N400, so I keep things safe and just waited until I received my unconditional green card. That being said, I've read from past posts that people have provided copies of the conditional green card and the NOA extension letter, and it was sufficient.

Regarding explaining your situation on the coverletter, my view is that it wouldn't help or hurt your application, but that's just my limited opinion. I've read that there are people who don't even submit a coverletter, and had no problems. I included one just to make things easier for the reviewer.

    Good luck!

I sent my application same day ...did you receive any text or e-mail please?

OMG this process so stressful ,, need  someone too patient ...

My package was delivered yesterday, 5/10/2017. I don't expect that we will get any email/text that our package was received, until we get our Notice of Action (NOA) in the mail in a few weeks.

Just be patient, it's only been 3 days :). I am no longer stressed as I am a PR. The green card was a much more stressful process for me.

I have an NOA of March 3rd and did my bio first week of April. I can't help but notice that it seems the first week/second week of march filers are the ones delayed. Is it possible they are working backwards? And our batch is last?

I don't believe this is the case, as I had timelines similar to yours (also Canadian). It's a truly frustrating experience... you can take a look at February and April filers, but I would assume you'd see no patterns. Good luck!

The temporary extension that comes with NOA 1 only spans for a year, did they send another letter extending it again?

No. The NOA extends one year from the expiry date of the green card and not from the date of the NOA letter. So we had a buffer period. That being said, we were getting close to the one year extension of the card expiry date, so I had scheduled an INFOPASS appointment. Soon after, I received the approval letter, so I just cancelled my appointment.

In the event that you don't get an approval after the extension period, you can get an i551 stamp on your passport that proves that you are a permanent resident for another year. I don't expect you to have the same issues, as California seems to process things much quicker than Vermont. Good luck!

  12. For what its worth, I think you should be fine. As others have said that's a lot more than I submitted. I didn't include any affidavits, greeting cards, or a statement from the landlord! I didn't even think about trying to span comprehensively the time we were together. I would think that filing jointly for the 3 years would be strong evidence complimenting the other materials you had mentioned.

In this case, I say, no news is good news. For reference, it look over 13 months for me to finally get approval on ROC. Before then, I didn't hear anything from them.

    Hello all

Just got a letter from USCIS saying my case had been approved. Date of decision Apr 11 and should receive my new card within 90 days. Online status not updated.

Such a relief. Good luck to you all who are still anxiously waiting.

Hi Yilees, was the letter addressed to your full name first name or just your first letter of your first name and full last name?

  14. Hey all,

I finally got my approval: Date of decision is 4/12/2017, from the letter I received today, 4/17/2017. I haven't received the physical card, and my online status hasn't been updated yet.

Did anyone else note that the mail is addressed to your first initial and last name? So for John Smith, its addressed to J Smith? At the bottom of the letter it asks if all the information above is correct. Did anyone else notice this?
