She should have the visa in a few days,no AP. Hang in there yours will come soon. Since 9-11 things have got tougher for Muslims. It's ashame the actions of a few must affect eveyone. I've heard the AP's from Muslim countries are just additional background checks. Give it a little time. Best of Luck to you.

Unfortunately my fiancee was not able to attend the interview. She had given her passport to the passport office in Thane for the 2nd police clearance and some dumbass put it in the mail rather than calling her to pick it up. Needless to say, it still has not arrived and with no passport you cannot enter the embassy grounds. I have spoken to my lawyer and they are emailing the embassy and requesting another interview date. It is so frustrating to be so close and now have to wait again.

How many days before the interview should you do the medical?

We also have a Feb. 2, 2007 interview date in Mumbai and we havent received packet 4. We didnt receive a packet 3 either, we downloaded packet 3 and sent it in. DOS has confirmed our Feb. 2, 2007 interview.

I am emailing forms to my fiance to practice (DS-156K and DS-230), these are the correct forms? and also I noticed in DS-156K that a "Police certificate" has to be submitted. What does this mean?.

Have your fiancee apply for their police certificate at their local police station and a additional police clearance at the office that issued their passport. Apply for those now, as it takes up to 30 days to get them back. The police certificates are for packet 4 at the interview.

You will need to download packet 3 from the embassy website. Checkoff the checklist and sign it. Fill out form DS-156, make photocopies of your fiancees paasport pages, including all biographical information, and 2 passport size photos. This is all that is required for packet 3.

Just wondering what is the average time, after submitting the required paperwork from packet 3, until the interview date in packet 4 will arrive? We are waiting 3 weeks, and I'm getting a little antsy. Holidays are cool, but immigration workers should not be allowed to take off from work during this time. Don't they know we miss our honey's?!

You can call the Dept. of State in the US at 202-663-1225, press 1, then 0, then 0. Hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. They can tell you the current status of your case and if you have been scheduled an interview date.

I called last week and was told our packet 3 was received and approved and to call back this week and we may have an interview date. GOOD LUCK!

Type another one up and have it notorized.

We have not received packet 4 yet. But I emailed the embassy yesterday asking if they received packet 3 and to please email once packet 4 is sent. We never received packet 3 the first time they mailed it. I got a reply this morning saying they received packet 3 and our interview would be scheduled in 8-12 weeks. That may be a standard reply, as i read from another member they got a silmilar reply and ended up with an interview in about 30 days. Or at least i hope it is sooner! Thanks for the info. If possible, you should have your fiancee go to the embassy and pick up a copy of the appointment letter. If you already know your interview date, they will give it to her.
