No, I do not have a new job, I'm in the same

Sorry, one more thing, my favorite quote from USCIS in their guidance to employers handbook is 11.4 Avoiding Discrimination in Recruiting, Hiring, and the Form I-9 Process.....

    Employers should not:

    • Request that an employee who presented an unexpired Permanent Resident Card present a new document when the Permanent Resident Card expires.

Ok, provided you showed your employer your green card previously as part of the I9 verification process, they should not be asking for it again even though it's about to expire. Your employer should only need to re-verify EADs when they expire. Below are excerpts from the USCIS website! To be fair most employers just don't know!

    EMPLOYERS SHOULD NOT REVERIFY:
    • U.S. citizens and noncitizen nationals
    • Lawful permanent residents who presented a Form I-551, Permanent Resident or Alien Registration Receipt card for Section 2. This includes conditional residents.

Note: Reverification is never required for U.S. citizens and noncitizen nationals. Do not reverify the following documents after they expire: U.S. passports, U.S. passport cards, Alien Registration Receipt Cards/Permanent Resident Cards (Form I-551), and List B documents.

If your green card has not expired you can not ask for an appointment to stamp passport, it is recommended that you only make the appointment for a week before the green card expires, I have not received the case  letter received , the only thing I received was letter for the fingerprints appointment, I am also waiting for my extension, because my GC expires in February and I need it in my work. tomorrow I will call again to see what they tell me

Have you started a new job or are you continuing in your same job? I'm pretty sure employers are not supposed/allowed to re-verify green cards, even conditional green cards when it's approaching their expiration dates for I9 purposes. That is provided you showed them your green card previously. It clearly says this in USCIS website. It's only when you start a new job that you employers should ask again for a green card.

We received our NOA1 today with an 18 month extension.  Finally!

We did the normal call on the day that the status page mentioned (Jan 3) because we hadn't received it yet (originally submitted on Dec 4, 2018).  Although I didn't escalate to a tier 2 person, she put in a service request like others have spoken about and on Jan 15, we received an email saying they had processed the request (it also said this on the status page).  So not bad that we received it on Jan 22.

Hi do you mind if I ask was the I-797 you received in the mail an original one or did it look like a copy? I heard that some people who put in a SR ended up getting a copy I-797 in the mail. I was going to put in a SR as I'm still waiting on my receipt letter but I'm afraid they will just send me a copy. I have to travel overseas in a couple of months and don't want to show a border official a copy I-797 when I return. I want to try and wait out an original I797 in the mail. Thanks!

anyone else still waiting? or is it just me left? :(

I'm still waiting too! It's Day 273 for me. Accordingly to USCIS website, my local field office is processing I485s received on May 16 2016. My application has PD of May 10 2016 so submitted a Service Request last week only to get reply today saying my application is still within normal processing times! I think that's wrong but have to wait 30 days before I can submit another Service Request. I kinda feel they just make it up as they go along!

  6. Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but kinda stumbled on to this thread as was wondering if I was the only person who applied for AOS in May 2016 that hadn't received an interview yet. My status on USCIS website still says fingerprint fee received since July 27th 2016 and been no updates since then. It's reassuring that I'm not the only one who applied in May 2016 that is still waiting. My local field office is Los Angeles County and I'm now officially outside their processing times like many of you. I filed a Service Request online over 30 days ago which was not assigned. I've tried calling about my case for an update but can't really get anywhere so I'm just resigned to waiting. My biggest fear is getting a letter for an interview and the letter getting lost by the postal service and me missing my interview as I know they consider that as an abandonment of my application.

There seems to be no sense to the process. I know another person from same country as me who applied for same AOS, under the same conditions as me (married USC), four months after me and they got their green card last week so applications don't appear to be processed in order of receipt.

Anyway I don't have a question I just wanted to say hi and hope all remaining May 2016 filers get some good news this week!
