  1. My husband (Nigerian native) is in the beginning steps of becoming a naturalized citizen (paperwork filed, waiting for next steps); however, I would like to file our taxes separately this year. Is this wise? Can it be done? We have filed for the last three years. Married for four years.

Also, how long does it typically take for them to approve naturalization?

    Thanks.

So we just saw that the i751 filers have to file to californua office? Is this new? We thought we filed to texas office.... so if we file to calofornia we have our interview in california or is the interview set up in texas where we live... 😥

Your interview should be in Texas. I would hope that they don't expect people to travel all the way to CA for an interview. We are in TX as well. They are so backed up on processing i-751s right now. The last I checked, the timeline noted that they are only on June 2016 applications. We just filed in Feb 2017, so, we have a bit to go before they process ours. Best of luck to you all.

  3. Me and my husband submitted all of the requested paperwork and documents for the i-751.  However, we received all of the documentation back. Reason: It was not submitted within the 90 day time frame (his current status expires on 5/13/17, we mailed it on 2/7/17).  Would someone be able to shed some light on this, as we are new to this process.  I didn't know that they would be so strict if you submit documentation several days prior to the 90 day window.

    Thank you.
