Hi everyone,
I am sharing my visa interview experience for anyone out there who is anxious. I am a new graduate RN without any experience at all. I have US rn license and sponsor etc... so finally after nvc and everthng i made it to the interview today at the embassy . So for everyone who is wondering about EXperience: It doesnt matter ! As long as u hv recent employment contract and job offer ul be fine. However u need to show the officer that u have actually contactrd ur employer or hospital or clinic u will be working in. The officer wants to know u actually spoke to them . For me she asked me " did u do interview with ur employer " since im nt in the states i said no . So she asked me if i ever spoke to him ... i said yes over the phone.she asked details about the convesr. And so she considered it as interview. I dont wana scare anyone... but u should know they do ask questions. Its not 1,2,3 . At least for me it wasnt. I am ready to answer sny question . Feel free to inbox me. I hope this helps.sorry fot the long post but i know when i was waiting for my interview i would have killed for info!

If you would like to know if someone is still active you can click on their picture and it will take you to the page where it states the last time they were on VJ. There is a very good chance that if you are asking a question on a thread that was alive with activity back a few years, chances are really good that they will not be here to answer your reply. Best to start your own thread and ask your question and if someone knows the answer they will certainly respond.
thanks!

Don't sit and worry yourself sick on this. Keep a positive attitude for when you go to the interview.
Yea i guess ur right... its unlikely that a uscis could miss something so crucial so im hoping its gona be fine...thanks for the motivation...!

Do you have everything else listed in the the embassy instructions letter?
Yes ..i have everything including medical and original of all docs and copies... ds confirmation etc... what worries me is i wonder how uscis approved me in first place knowing that i have no experience and no license from my home country. On their websitedit states that both of these are requirements. But i got approved anyway ! I have only US rn license.

Understand worries ... comes with the visa chase
Do you have this? (along with everything else listed in the embassy instructions letter. I gave you the link earlier)
Download Form I-134 at http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis.
Notarized Confirmation of Job Offer and Salary for employment–based applicants should be on the stationery of the employer’s business organization and it must have been issued less than one year prior to the visa application.
Hi.yes i do.i have a job order and an employment contract.with derails of salary position and location. Both notarized...

I really think you should calm down some and not stress out. As long as you have what is required then you will be fine so don't worry.
yea i keep telling myself that ... if uscis approved my visa knowing that i have no experience... then embassy shouldnt be an issue... i hope. thanks anyway!

Hello VJ peeps!
I just would like to hear, if anyone of you here is kind enough to share, some stories of friends, relatives, or anyone who went for the interview at the US Embassy under the EB3 category (Employment-Based petition) as an RN/Nurse with very minimal experience BUT with complete requirements to obtain an immigrant visa - such as valid employment offer, visascreen, NCLEX, etc.
How did the interview go? Did the consul make an issue of the lack of nursing experience? Things like that.
Looking forward to your replies :-)
Thank you so much in advance.Hi i was wondering if u are still active over here

From what I'm reading you have to know rally well the info you put on the DS260.
Who is sponsoring you?
How have you found this job?
What duties you will perform at this job?
What experience do you have?
Where is the job located ?
Are you married?
Have you been to the USA before?
This is just what I have seen on other forums and what our lawyer told us. Best wishes, and let us know how it goes.
thanks.. i will post interview results when im done.

Im under skilled but my lawyer said as long as I have a bachelors degree, the exp is not required as she had processed nurses for eb3 before even without experience but were still able to get the visa. I guess this depends on the interviewer at the embassy?
Honestly its not fair to depend onnthe consul.it should be a matter of mood or having a bad day hence u deny the applicant. There should be some kond of rule. I have no experience at all.i jave bachelor i made thru everthng my interview is sopn im freaking out

All the US cares about is that you passed the NCLEX not if you got a license in your home country. What country are you coming from?
i am croatian. thanks... everyone is saying the same thing. i hope you guys are right!

I don't see a reason why, since you actually HAVE a US nursing license and will work in the US. And with all due respect for your education in your home country, but the US wont accredit your nurse education from there most likely anyways. They do that with lots of foreign doctors either, from excellent countries, where you actually wonder why.
I think you are all set, but do you or your sponsor have hired an attorney?
I am not an expert, but went through consular processing for my EB-1A and I think most of the EB categories are somewhat similar in regards to the interviews. You have passed the crucial part and that was USCIS.
exactly my thoughts! thats why i didnt bother with the croatian nursing board exam . i tohught as long as i have us licesne i shouldnt need it. yes i have an attorney that represents both me and my employer. thanks for your reply. i feel better!

hi everyone, i have specific question maybe someone could help. i graduated nursing school with bsn in my country. and i do not have a license from my country. i dont have any experience . i only have rn license from new york. i passed the nclex and got my us license. i found a good sponsor who found me a job and i got approved for eb3 visa by uscis and nvc cleared me and my interview is in few weeks. supposedly everything is in order could the us embassy deny me because i do not hold an rn license from my country ?

Can only give you general feedback on this one, but the interview is basically the governments real LAST chance to discover any type of fraud or serious clashes in the application. The CO officer is not supposed to adjudicate your case anymore, since that has been done by USCIS. But they have the authority to stop the process right there, if they think that a serious mistake has been made and will send it back to USCIS.
HOWEVER don't want to scare you, because that is not what this is all about if everything is fine and you have all you documents and information regarding the application with you. Make sure you know your case well and be ready for all sorts of questions that anybody could possibly ask you about this upcoming position. They want to see if you are really YOU!
If you want practice it with somebody in a dialogue, go ahead, it helps. I made a question and answer list for myself some days ahead and read my petition letter over and over again.
Give simple answers, don't start to argue, just present yourself confident and all should be ok.
Good luck!
thanks! you seem well informed. can you advise me about one issue. my interview is in few weeks and i am actually a nurse and i have an american rn license but i dont have a license from my country. do you think if i made this far with uscis and nvc... is there a chance us embassy would deny me for this reaosn ?

Assigning interview slots for the consulates starts usually around the end of the month to about the fist 10 days of the following one.
You can call NVC to usually find it out a bit earlier until they send out the invitation letters.
My CC was on the 9th and the date assigned on the 27th of the month. I found out via phone on the 28th day and the invitation email came on the 29th.
thanks i found out over the phone too. nov 2nd. it was scheduled sept 26 th

Unfortunately, from everything I've read and talking to my lawyer there's no real way to prevent this. You can keep calling every week throughout the 11 weeks, but the only answer you'll hear is wait 11 weeks before doing anything. You can't initiate a supervisor review until the 10-11 week mark and then yes it takes another 4-6 weeks to hear back. Our strategy (worked out with my lawyer will be the following) --
- Call once a week to try and get status updates (even though it's likely futile).
- As we approach 11 weeks, have a request to my senator ready to fire off.
- If we hit 11 weeks, we'll contact our senator right away in the hopes that if they inquire it'll cut the time it spends in a supervisor review.
Not much else you can do besides this!
helo i am in a similar situation. can someone just tell me how can i know if they scanned the documents into their system ? my case arrived 2 weeks ago to nvc but i have no clue if its scanned!

Currently the processing time is 11 weeks, despite the number of documents that you have.
Thanks for ur reply.yes i called nvc and they said that it takes UP to 11 weeks. Not necessarly 11. But i was told that there is always a chance it might finish sooner depending on the order in which cases were received. From what i read on this site alot of cases finish in 2 or 3 weeks. Im keeping my hopes up

Eb3 visa interview experience for rn
in US Embassy and Consulate Discussion

i am gona post the questions here if its okey so that everyone can read. first u should know that my case is a bit complicated coz i was born in lebanon but i am croatian... so many questions revolved around why i dont have lebanese nationaility and why i lived in croatia and etc... so im guessing these questions dont apply to others. however the questions that i think everyone will get are similar to this
1- how did u meet ur employer ( in my case my brothers lives in new york and his wife is an rn and her boss knows the guy who sponsored me so i got lucky)
2- did u have an interview ( THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT . FIRST I answered no obviously becoz im not in the states. the officer asked me again if i ever spoke to him. luckily i did speak to him thru video cal on watsap once. so i said actually i did. then she wanted details of the conversation. i told her he wanted to know my qualifications and my level of english language etc.... so to the officer this was the interview. ALSO VERY IMPORTANT TO TELL THE OFFICER THAT THE CALL WAS RECENT.she asked when did i talk to him i said less then a month ago. i understand some pleople wait fro visa for 8 years. but u cant tell the officer that u did ur itnerview 5 years ago. i think that wont stand . )
3- questions about education . how did i get my US license. in my case i studied in an america university so it was pretty easy to do the nclex witohut the hastle of cgfns and all this so i told her.
no questions about experience.
my personal feelings about the interview... i must admit during the interview i was freaking out . i didnt expect such detailed questions. i felt it was over. especially when she stops talking and starts typing and u need to w there not knowing whats going on . but what got me approved was honesty. even though i got many questions i didnt lie about anything at all and i think even though she could sense i was wrried about being rejected she could see in my answers that i didnt lie about anything.
sorry for the long post. please share with everyone who needs it. i wish best of luck to any person wh is going thru us immigration process.. i am flying in two days. finally its over. and also excuse me for the typing mistakes
