  1. If you don't get this thread then you should read it agin. They detained this particular US Citizen in Germany because he commited a crime under German law. Using fraudulent documents to enter Germany is a crime, very simple. And a person who is no longer a German citizen trying to use German passport is commiting fraud. That's why he got arrested. Makes perfect sense. If you rob someone in Germany, you will be arrested if caught. US citizen or not - doesn't matter. Well, using fraudulent documents is a serious crime, just like robbery. Makes sense now?

And you CAN loose your US citizenship. It's very hard and unlikely but you can.

And once again, DON'T give people wrong advices if you don't know what you are talking about. His wife WILL NOT have Ukrainian citizenship any longer, as soon as she becomes a US citizen. Not under US law (US law doesn't govern Ukrainian citizenship), but under Ukrainian law. And if she attempts to use her Ukrainian passport to enter Ukraine, she can be in some serious trouble. Please read the thread again - all information is already here.

    Don't give people wrong adivce.

  2. Why would they detain a U.S citizen in Germany? Makes no sense. He can travel to Germany at any time as a visitor. I don't get this thread. Who cares if the U.S. recognizes other citizenships or not. You do not lose U.S citizenship. Period. To make it simple: Your wife would travel to the Ukraine using her Ukranian citizenship and when she travels back, she uses her American passport.

  3. Well, but she was gonna schedule me for one that was the following week, so if they had a space then, I don't see why there would not be one almost 1.5 months later. This is so frustrating. Not even my online status changes. Don't they send a "You are approved" letter? How do I know that I am actually approved now? Can't believe how incompetent they are.

  4. Lots of info so I'll try to make it short. Had interview on the 5h, it was 2 days before my 3 years, she said she would reccommend it for approval, told me oath ceremony next week, I said I can't cause I'll be out of country, she said ok; will do it on June 16th. I told her mail the letter because she wanted me to pick it up first, but that was before I told her I won't be here. It's been two weeks now and I still got no letter. Already had to make an infopass to pick up my biometrics letter. How long should I wait now? One more week?

  5. I am an atheist and anti religion. Just in January the ruling was reverse and this phrase was deemed acceptable...again.

Honestly, I don't give a ####### if "Our forefathers have used this God thing in the Declaration of Independence, US Constitution, Bill of Rights, on the money we earn and pay taxes with, so you may look upon God as being the spirit that formed this once great country". It's clear what they want to say. It's not really about any "Spirit". But as long as I don't have to say it myself and can say " I do", I'm alright with it. It's too bad that it is that way. lol once great country?

Haven't gotten the letter yet. Can't say. I thought someone could tell me what they wore. But I'll just wear a suit then.

    Thanks

  6. Umm no, they did not screw it up. It was supposed to stop the 90 day time frame when they did submit the paperwork. Please, the USCIS called me a CUSTOMER. I paid them a ton of money, and they can not find out that I did not send in one single document? They won't even issue a working permit and call you for an interview when you don't turn that form in. But that's what they did in this case.

It seems like no body here has read the article... I realize they forgot the form, but USCIS went ahead and ISSUED them a working permit AND called them for an interview and THEN the interviewer told them about it and THEN they did submit it correctly, again. How is deportation justified? It is not. USCIS is the one who needs to be hold accountable here. Sorry. That is what this is about. It's not like they forgot a form, ignored everything else, and just didn't care enough about it.

  7. I don't like this racist talk. So why don't you jsut knock it off. Substitute black and white, and you know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, the USCIS issued them the working permit AND invited them for an interview. At the interview they told them something was wrong ( umm, way too late now. Tell them BEFORE you invite them to the interview). And then they foloowed the advice of this USCIS and did everything he told them to. This is USCIS's fault.

  8. I just read this story.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/15/nyregion/15visa.html

Honestly, I don't see what they did wrong. They refiled the papers after the advice of an immigration officer, they had already sent him the working permit ( since when do they do that when there's an error in hte paperwork? No RFE? , and they had their immigration interview, where they were told something went wrong..uhh why did thehy schedule an interview in the first place then?? They did not realize all the time that they forgot to file the I-130. And after they were told this, they refiled again. And THEN they came and detained him? After everything that already took place? I could understand them doing it when a couple ignores everything etc. But they filed twice, went to the interview etc. This should not have happened.

Well, I just thought this was an interesting story. Be careful when you file!

  9. So, Ihad the interview last Wednesday. She asked stuff like where I met my wife, where she works, when her birthday is, and some other related questions. Wanted to see tax returns and bank statements and nothing else. Was kind of wondering about this, but dosen't really matter I guess. Then she said she will recommend it for approval. I had the interview 2 days before the 3 year period was up. We are on vacation right now and the oath ceremony would have been this Wednesday. DIdn't know it might take only a week. But now it's on June 16th. I guess I can wait that one month. It still says online that it is in "testing and interview". Takes some time to update?

Also, what am I supposed to wear to the ceremony? I saw it on TV once and they all were wearing normal clothes. But that was a huge ceremony in a stadium. The letter says NO jeans. Some people I saw were wearing just regular clothes. Guess it depends on where it is... So a suit would be ok?

  10. Why won't they just do it at the time of the interview? I don't understand why I would want to go to some huge searing-in ceremony. That is so impersonal!. My interview is on May 5th, the ceremony won't be for at least 1,5 months, I would say. It's in Houston, so maybe they will have more ceremonies and I won't have to wait that long?

  11. My case was now updated. It says:

    Testing and Interview

Your case has been transferred to a local office and an interview will be scheduled. You will be sent a notice advising you of the date and time of your interview. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

How long might it take until the actual interview takes place ( I'm guessing it would be one month after you receive the letter)? I'm having lots of travel plans and I'm obviously still not able to schedule everything, but it would be nice to have a vague timeline.
