I filed for my wife's case about the same time as yours. My wife did her biometrics on sept 12, 2019. On 2/19/20 my her case status changed to "Case is ready to be Schedule for an Interview". I thought it went pretty fast so i came to check out visa journey to see if that is normal but i have seen a lot of people saying "it will take months until they schedule your interview". Today 2/26/20 i received another notification saying "On February 26th,2020 we scheduled an interview for your Form I751...." I wasnt expecting this to be going this fast (not complaining at all) but im outside of the country until march 5th. Hopefully i wont receive anything on the mail telling me we have an interview before then.... Also has anyone else have this type of case go this fast?

My case is the same thing , I didn't  have received the letter by mail but on Case status online says " As of February 12, 2020, we are ready to schedule your interview ,We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. ", just waiting for letter and instructions for interview.

Hello everyone,   is there anyone in this forum who had to go back to Brazil for there interview to obtain there visa?  If so, how much notice did you receive from NVC that you had to go back to Brazil and how was the process when you were there?  If you can give tips on hotels, taxis, food, and anything else you can think of would help alot.  Also, did you have your spouse go with you and how did you get their visa? :D

    Thank you!

I have been 2 times in the  RIO consulate ,  the nearest hotel close to consulate and not expensive  is the Othon hotel airport santos dumont  , big  and clean roons and the  breakfast is free and delicious , it is very close to the airport  (1 block) and 2 blocks away from the consulate .

She got her interview date for Dec 18th in Rio, now does she need to pay anything else after she gets approved? I paid all the fees so far but I'm not sure if they are going to charge her anything else after the interview. Just need to be sure she is prepared.

Also does she need to go back to Rio get her passport back?

Just another thing, she got an email confirmation for her interview but no letter so far, should I call NVC if they are going to send her a letter?

    Thx for helping :)

Just print the email  and bring on her interview , you will not receive interview letter on mail,  the last charge will be the green card (plastic card), you no  need return to consulate to pick up the passport, you need do online to set pick up on CASV .  I advise you to receive the passport on CASV  near by you , because you know how the Brazilian couriers are (snail mail) , the  CASV  will notifies you by e-mail When the passport  is there, and then just make appointment to Pick up the passport,  another thing is dont' pay the green card fee late, my advice is pay online  before  you do the POE because the  production of your green card  depends when  the payment date is made, If you pay just after you got approved you will receive on 60 days.

That's interesting sergojax, did you have an extreme circumstance? Because according to the website of the US embassy in Brazil, "Only in extreme emergencies, with prior approval of our Regional USCIS Office, can Petitions be filed at the Consulate General. "

    https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/how-to-apply/

You right, DCF is only in  extreme emergencies or others emergencies that are analyzed by  USCIS Office, Brazil  don’t' have  USCIS office so the regional office for Brazil are Lima(Peru) , my case  was not "Extreme emergency" but I remember I have explain my case on one letter and send to Rio consulate whit some documentation that prove my residence in brazil and my  emergency and RIO consulate send those  documentation to USCIS office in Lima (PERU), after few weeks I got email from Rio consulate that says USCIS Lima (Peru) was approved to file DCF on Rio consulate, so  there are some regulations in relation to file  DCF in Brazil , first the petitioner( US citizen )must establish residency in Brazil, and the second most important is  to have a reason to be able to apply , as for example,: emergency situations , situations involving health and safety of the petitioner, humanitarian reasons etc, if you do not have one of these reasons probably your  application tru DCF  will be denied, I recomend if you have some kind emergency and have residence in Brazil  just give a try on send  one email explaining the reason , that's what i did and and I was surprised when they accepted.

Since you live abroad, you file to the Chicago lockbox, as noted in the link above. Your mailing address is merely that - a place where you receive mail.

    Too bad DCF isn't available.

    "In My Opinion"

Yes brasil has DCF available, I  just did my  case  starting on  July 2017, and ffinish  the hole process in october/2017.

There must be a USCIS field office at the embassy: https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/international-immigration-offices
