  1. Hi, i did the medical this last Tuesday ...  as i said, walk- in , got there about 8:30 am and was done by 10 am. The Medical should be done about 2 Weeks prior to your Interview....  where my Interview is scheduled for next Wednesday, February 1. , as we are proposed to travel on February 27.

I waited until my Step 2 was approved, and i got the Email saying i should have my medical done.. According to the Doctors office, it takes about 2 Days for the Lab-results to come in, then everything gets send to the Consulat.

The fee´s are split: 250 Euro on the Spot same Day as your medical, and the Lab sends you an Invoice for 130 Euro - this one i received today...

  2. Hi, 1040´s are your Tax returns ...  this link has all the information about the Affidavit of Support and the Documents you need.https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/support/i-864-frequently-asked-questions.html. I also enclosed a Screen Shot

Your Wife will receive an Email stating that she needs to submit a Request for scheduling an appointment with the link of the Website.

The medical is on Walk in Basis . The physician in Frankfurt offers the medical check for Immigrant Visa Mondays, Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30am  - 11 am. here is the link to there Website with all information you need http://www.internisten-im-westend.de/medicalvisa

  3. Ok DEERS is the Dependent Enrollement for Military Members or Civilian Employees. My Husband works for the DOD and so i got registered as his dependent. And Yes, we got married here in Germany.

My Husband is my Sponsor and he submitted his Orders as proof of residence as well as his rental contract.

As for the Tax Issue. You will need your Tax return from the States, as this serves as your proof of residency in the US ... I don´t know if you are able to submit the German Lohnsteuerbescheinigung, this could cause USCIS to request a Joint Sponsor - but again - i dont know. Talk to your Tax Guy and see what he says about it.

I am not on my Husbands taxes either since i dont have a SSN.

Have you filed the Petition yet ??? The Instructions on the Website from the Consulat  are really helpful : https://de.usembassy.gov/visas/uscis-frankfurt/  for explanation on how to start and this link here is the one your wife gets, when your Petition is approved : https://de.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/how-to-apply/

Note SHE is the one who will have to fill out the online stuff !! As she is the applicant to the VISA

  4. Well besides the german police record, i also needed a french one because i lived there 10 Years. Thanks to this Forum i found out about it and got a head start... so when i received the check list last Saturday , i gathered all my stuff and mailed it out Monday of last week. I did not translate the Police records, as this is only required when there is an entrance... ( eintrag )

proof of MArriage : We just got married in October, but all we submitted was the DEERS Paper, and they never questioned it.

This I- 864 is the Affidavit of Support, it will proof that your Sponsor ( your Spouse / the Petitioner) is able to support you financially. It is a legal contract between USCIS and the Spouse/ Sponsor. If the Income requirements are not met, Uscis can request a second sponsor.

You will have to submit the most reasont Tax Return ( 1040 ) and the W-2 ( Income report from emplyer ) but there are also instructions on what they need

You just collect the Documents and mail them , online you will have to fill out a Questionair when you file your Visa application. Some of the Questions where a little hard to understand, but there are helpful hints on the side of each question as to explain what they mean.

  5. NOA2 ist the approval of the Petition.

It took 64 Days after filing the Petition.

First my Husband as the Petitioner received a letter, and then like 2 Days later i got mine with the link i had to go to online to file the DS-260 ( Visa Application) and the Delivery Adress for the Visa.

That link also leads to a Checklist of the required Documents for Step 2. Assemble them as fast as you can and mail out as soon as possible.

It only took them 3 Days to email me with the approval of Step to, and to promt me to get my medical done and to request the Scheduling for an appointment online.

I expect to receive the permission to access there calender tomorrow, so i can schedule my appointment.

So, you have to wait to get your Approval Letter, and then the whole process switches to online filing. You only have to send the required Documents by regular mail. The Instructions on that website are really easy to follow

  6. Hi,

thanks for asking :-)  I moved forward a great Deal, as i recieved notice by email today, to go ahead and submit a Apointment Scheduling Request and to complete my Medical :-)

Now i am happy to say that, in my Case Step 1 waiting on the approval notice for I-130 was the most nerve wrecking.

The RFE we received was due to a minor mistake from myself. I submitted an english translation from my previous divorce degree, but forgot to submit the original german document, and since i had a GC previously, they asked for a Sworn Statement from my Husband about the usage of my Nickname "Tine"  - somehow they said I cited it in my old immigration Record as a Name used.. but that apeared to be a Nickname... so all we did is write a Statement that this Nickname was never subject to any legal changes...

I am still wondering weather they gonna say something about my old, expired GC ... which i never returned... but that expired in 2004 ( unconditional one )  I returned to Germany in 1996 and never went back to the USA due to an abusive Ex Husband....

If i can be of help, just ask...

  7. I need help please.

I have an approved Petition , and am already working on Packet 3 with NVC. We are filing in Germany ( DCF )

    My Problem now:

I have been a LPR from 1992 until 1996, but i never returned my GC or filed an Form I-407, simply because back then i did not have that information.

I left the USA to get away of my abusive Husband, and once i returned to Germany it never occured to me, that there could be any actions i need to take.

After researching here and on other Sites, i learned that this fact might jeapordize the Outcome of my Interview...

Would it be of any help for me to step forward and just mail the expired GC with Form I 407 and an explanation Letter to NVC with the Documents for Step 2 ????

Or should i take a Chance and wait to see if they even notice this fact ??

PS: I have never set foot into USA after 1996 ! Which i am sure USCIS and / Or NVC can verify with ease.

    TIA

  8. Hello,

does anyone here has a timeframe as when to expect a decision about the I-130 Petition ? NOA1 ( Receipt of Petition) was Nov 7.

We received a RFE  Dec 24, USCIS Frankfurt received the requested Dokuments at Dec 27 ( registered mail return reciept) .

( It was a very minor thing , as we forgot to enclose an original german document but the english notarized translation of the requested Document was sent with the Petition )

Any Idea as to how long it can take until i receive the decision ???

  9. Good Morning,

Thank you for the Support ... PPP Policy says, that once he receives his Orders , he has 45 Days to report on site with no space for Negotiations... He will send out the Paperwork Today, as they ask to return it by Dec 30 ... and the only thing that i can hope for is, that they take there Time to issue Orders...

Funny how things can change. Here i was worried a few Days ago about activating my Visa within 6 Month ... and now i worry about not having it issued in Time ...lol

Hubby is calling Passport Office on Base today to see what we can do if bad comes to worse... I am hoping that maybe the fact, that i already have a SSN and an assigned Alien Number helps speed things up.

I am a former LPR, and my GC expired in 2004... and both numbers are on the Petition..

  10. Update: received an RFE on Dec 24 - i forgot to send the original german document with an english translation  So i mailed that out on 26. via Registered mail...

As this waiting is not bad enough, my Husband got a Job Offer Yesterday in New Mexico. He is an Government Employee, and if he does not take this offer, he might be resigned and losses his benefits..

Now i am realy freaking out, because if he has to move before my Visa is processed i am realy screwed, since i dont have any Family where i could stay to wait on my GC... not to mention the financial predicament this would cause....

Has anyone an Idea as to what i could do, to expedite the progress ??? Would we even stand a chance of approval ???

Please help, i am really desperate

    Thanks

  11. Once more about this topic:

I just found an information on the USCIS Website, stating that Government Employees are considered domiciled in USA even when they are living abroad ( Germany in our Case )

" Some individuals employed overseas are automatically considered as domiciled in the United States because of the
nature of their employment. The qualifying types of employment include employment by:
    A. The U.S. Government;"

Would this make a difference in Activating the Visa for me ???

  12. Thank you,

We won´t know when we leave until my Husband has a Hit on his PPP. Once this happens , he might has only 45 Days to report to the Job.. and there is no telling as to when he will be picked up.

What is the Procedure on delaying the Interview in case i have to ?

would it not be better, to activate the GC in the US and return to Germany after ???

    Which is easier??

  13. Hi, i have a question to activating the Visa/ GC after the final Processing.

Does anyone know if the 6 Month timeframe also applies to DoD Civilian Spouses in Germany ??

Background to this is, that my Husband is an civilian employee currently on PPP ( priority Placement Programm for federal employees )

We filed for my GC as soon as we found out that he did not get extendet.

Approval of the Petition is pending.

I would like to know, if i still have to activate my GC in the US in Case my Husband has no official Orders for PCS by Time I receive my Visa.

TIA and merry Christmas to all of you

  14. Yes i put both numbers on the forms .. I even still have my expired GC

I am just worried, because we have only been married a couple of weeks before filing, due to unexpected circumstances with my Husbands work... but we live together the past 5 Years..

and also, i never got with USCIS the whole Time i lived in Germany, because it simply never crossed my mind...

  15. Hi everyone,

i am stressing myself out quit a bit.. and here is why:

    1. I lived 4 Years in the USA in early 90´s ( 92 - ´96) . Had a Greencard as well as SSN.

I left the US to get away from my abusive Husband with the help of my Parents.

Since then ( 1996) i have never been back to the US.

    2. My Husband also has been a Sponsor before, but his EX Wife left The US before AOS - this also took place in the early 90´s .... I read that this could trigger red flags too...

I am remarried now, and my Husband filed an I-130 for me.

Is here anyone who has experianced something similar??? I am afraid to get denied, because i abandoned my status 20 Years ago...

Also we are going thru DCF.

Any Information on this is beeing appreciated.

    Thanks

  16. Thank you so Much !!

I just wonder why i have to submit all these legal documents again, since they ask for them when filing the petition ???

My Husband alaready said, that if has not been picked up by Time i get my Visa he will apply for Jobs on his own... since we would like to go to Texas, and DoD only holds an Area Preference for 60 Days.. after this the Area for Pick up expands..

    I´ll keep you updated :-)

    Thanks again!
