Congratulations! Did your status ever change to "ready for interview" or did it move from fingerprint to card produced?

I would expect that you'll only have an n400 interview now, not combo

No, never an interview mention at all. Case received > Biometrics > New Card being produced.

i think i read somewhere on the USCIS documents they post online with changes in processes (partially due to Covid) where they implemented new rules that if they deem all the sent paperwork sufficient, they would skip the interview. I guess i lucked out with this as i would never expect it tbh. But i’m extremely happy and one step closer to the finish!

Technically I think you have to answer yes since you became an LPR in November 2017 and you did not file with your wife for 2017.  Based on the instructions you can put an explanation in writing and I doubt it will be an issue based on your story.

    Good Luck!

Item Numbers 1. - 50. Answer each question by selecting “Yes” or “No,” where applicable. If any part of a question applies to you or has ever applied to you, you must answer “Yes.” If you answer “Yes” to any of the questions in Item Numbers 1. - 44. in this part, include a typed or printed explanation on a separate sheet of paper. You may also provide evidence to support your answers. If you answer “No” to any question in Item Numbers 45. - 50., include a typed or printed explanation on a separate sheet of paper. Your answers, whether “Yes” or “No,” will not automatically cause your application to be denied.

Thank you! Working on that now.

Another thing, i came here right before 2017, we were married in the last quarter of 2016. And i did not even have my EAD yet.

We filed taxes jointly for 2016, spouse owed taxes and she is on an installment agreement for it. However since i am liable as well, would that still be a “Yes” to do i owe taxes as well? The installment agreement is in her name, the amount owed shows under my IRS online portal as well, however no agreement linked to me for that.

Should i give this same explanation as well when filing online?

  3. Hi all i have a question about N400 questions which confuses me a little.

Assuming these are the same questions on the online form:

Do you owe any overdue, Federal, State or Local taxes?

Have you ever NOT filed Federal, State or Local tax return since you became a lawful permanent resident?

and i believe there was a question about an Installment Agreement with the IRS online as well.

So 1 a 2 months ago my wife found out she never filed taxes (assumed her tax lady already done it) for 2017 when i brought up naturalization and tax returns.

I became a permanent resident in November of 2017 (years end) and didn’t work until March of 2018.

I didn’t pay much attention to it as i didn’t work. So i did file 2018/2019 and don’t owe anything.

in the midst of this all, we filed but the IRS has a backlog and didn’t update our portal (has been over 6 weeks) and she owes a small amount for 2017 which we will pay promptly once IRS processed the return. (She also owes and has an installment on 2016 and prior) (We married Sept of 2016)

    Based on those questions above, at this moment, me being the applicant;

    - Do I owe overdue taxes?

    - Did I fail to file?

Technically it has been filed before my application, though it hasn’t updated and therefore i at this time could not include the tax transcript. But will have it at time of the interview and paid off.

If anyone would be able to tell me what i should answer? Unsure how to interpret the question. I have been diligently paying taxes and always on top of everything and i don’t want something like this to destroy the view of my moral.

Note: i am filing before the increase on Oct 2nd.

Straight out denied because of missing tax documentation is highly unlikely. You may get an RFE for it but most likely the systems will have caught up with each other by the time your application gets reviewed. If I remember correctly you can still upload additional info after filling, so you may want to try that ones it becomes available.

Do bring the info  (and all other documentation you have collected over the years) with you to the interview. Just in case they want to see it.

    Thanks kerel!

I have no option really, IRS site also states they working on a backlog and there is no point in contacting them. I’ve screenshotted it and take this as additional proof. Whilst processing the application i’ll just wait until the transcript is available which i will bring to the interview. For now i just include a copy of the return and an explanation of why we didn’t file.

I have everything else, so i’m a little less worried now.

Meanwhile i’m also waiting for the ROC to push through, which is taking forever.

  5. Hi all.

I’m filing for the N400 before the end of the month (before the increase) based on 3 years.

I have tax transcripts for the last 2 years, but i don’t for the year 2017.

In short, my wife found out she didn’t file taxes when i brought it up to start filing. So we immediately filed back in July (By paper was the only option) , however the IRS portal has not updated this yet and it still shows she never filed (imagine the immense backlog with filers due to covid)

I personally was not employed in 2017. I was in 2018 until present day so that is accounted for.

My concern is, would the application for the N400 be denied due to this? I’m confident this would be updated through the IRS.

Everything else is accounted for as far as requirements go. It’s just that one 2017 tax return.

    Any insights would be appreciated.

No issues, I plan the same since I filed my ROC in September 2019 as well.

Sounds like we’re in the same boat. Wonder how many folks could weigh in still on this topic.

Best of luck with filing, happy to know we’re lucky enough to have the old filing fees.

do you plan on filing “online” vs paper filing?

As long you meet the physical presence and continuous residence requirements, you can apply 90 days earlier for 3-yr marriage based N-400. If so, you'll be eligible on 8/3/2020 acc to early file calculator. IMPT thing is to NOT submit on the FIRST day of eligibility. Submit one or two days later. Good luck!

You are a lifesaver. Panic didnt allow me to quickly research this so i appreciate your response.

Now, with my I-751 still pending on Case Was Received (YSC center) and already did Biometrics for them.

is it okay to file that N400 or would it create potential issues?

  8. I am a LPR since 11/1/2017. I have been married since 09/2016.

I filed my ROC i-751 in September of 2019 and is still in process without any new updates.

My question is: Do i meet the criteria for Naturalization N400 and can i submit this with a I-751 still pending (which will be approved anyways) ?

I am married for more than 3 years.

My LPR is worrying me, should i have to wait until 11/1/2020 (3 years of GC holder) ?

Obviously i am trying to avoid the higher fees that take effect on October 2nd 2020.

Any advice is more than welcome. I’m just stuck on the wording on the USCIS website

  9. Hi guys,

i received my green card. Had an interview on October 31st which went very well (if you guys need any info DM me on here).

The resident since date however on the Green Card states November 1st 2017. I recall reading something about the date should usually be the date of Marriage and around the time you applied for AOS

Can anyone confirm this? I might have to get a replacement.

I adjusted status here in the U.S. after marrying my now wife.

Any information regarding this is more than welcome

  10. Hey guys,

i have my interview coming up soon. So i’m trying to find affordable civil surgeons in Orlando.

I went off the list on the USCIS website and half are not even performing medical exams anymore. And a lot of the others are either asking insane prices or have no availability prior to my interview.

I was wondering if any of you guys that are in Orlando know any civil surgeon that is available quickly and decent in pricing!

    Thank you!

  11. Hey guys,

Thanks so much for the information. It helped me out a lot!

I got some minor questions regarding the forms though, because i do not wish to miss minor details.

    On the I-485:

    - Fields such as SSN and A-Number i can fill in with N/A?

    - Current status is VWP visitor or Out of Status? I saw different reactions so just want to make sure!

    - the i94 Arrival Departure number is that the same as the admission number on my electronic i-94 ? It contains 11 digits. (And is this the same that needs to be filled in at the I-130 form?)

    - At Non-Immigrant Visa Number/ Consulate / Date Visa i filled in N/A this is correct ? Since i entered with the VWP?

    On the I-130:

    - Alien Registration number can be N/A ?

    - Your relative's address abroad? (I'm here now, fill it in or leave blank?)

And as last for now, on the G325a form.

    - File number A ........ (i can assume to leave this blank)

The example forms are based on K1 Visa holders so i did not had to much of a reference for filling out the forms. Although it's pretty much self explanatory and i might be asking retorical questions, i wish not to make any mistakes.

It would be a lot easier to have a example form based on a VWP/ESTA marriage while in the U.S., would've saved me from bothering you guys!

I might return with some more small questions, but i appreciate all the help i got so far! Thank you!

  12. Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well!

I need some information just to clarify and get a peace of mind.

I came on a ESTA (VWP) to visit my girlfriend, now wife. This was a spontaneous action (we love eachother so much and did not want to leave eachothers side) and we got married within 90 days (while i was still legally present). Just before my ESTA expired on September 24th.

Basically i'm overstaying for almost 3 months now although we got married. But, we're ready to file the I-130 and I-485 with all the other supported forms before Dec 23rd (crucial date before the fees go up lol)

Therefore i have some questions, i already appreciate all the info you guys can give. I'll summarize them to make it easier to answer.

    - Will my overstay be forgiven in my situation?

    - I did not underwent a medical exam yet (I-693) due to the timeframe we have for filing now so that form will not be included, can i do this prior to the interview and bring it along?

    - My wife makes above the poverty level to support me. We have 3 1099 copies for the last 3 years. Do we still need to download an IRS transcript from the IRS website and include that?

    - I lost the original marriage certificate while copying (stupid i know) if we go to the courthouse, certified copies will suffice?

    - I only have one stamp in my passport (it's fairly new) do i need to copy all the empty pages too or just the stamppage? (Also does it need to be a colorcopy or is black/white good too?)

That's all i need to know for know, i been reading into this forum a lot and it helped me out! Although i might ask retorical questions it's just to clarify. Because i seen so many different answers.

I been sleeping badly lately cause i'm already overstaying and worried that someone might knock on the door so i want to get this done and over with lol.

If anyone can point me in the right direction regarding example forms for concurrent filing based upon entering on a ESTA (VWP) in some topic on here that would be very helpful. Just don't want to fill them out with some errors.

I appreciate the feedback, thank you guys!
