  1. Hi guys. My CEAC status w/ NVC case # is changed to "ready" today (took exactly a week since I got my case number)

I just submitted the DS-160 already, and found the packet 3 online for my country, which basically includes 1) instruction to complete DS-160, 2) Form DS2001-HNK (Notification of Applicant Readiness) and 3) a document checklist

It states to return (mail or submit in person) the above forms to office "when you have obtained all the required documents [on the checklist] for the visa interview."

The document checklist includes items like police certificate and medical examination. Obviously it will take maybe another week or two to complete those, and I don't need to bring them until the actual interview. Does anyone know if it's okay to send back packet 3 without all the checklist items in hand already? I want to schedule my interview ASAP as there will probably be at least a month wait.

  2. Oh man I remember talking to you in the other thread while we were both waiting :( I'm so sorry to hear that it has taken this long. I know it must be so hard for both of you. But I really think you should stick to the K1 because it's very likely that you'll be approved in the next weeks or at most 2 months. I was really frustrated too while I was waiting for my NOA2 but once that happened the process has been moving along SO MUCH faster and has taken the stress off me because the timeline is now much more predictable than the dreadful NOA2. I am sure there are a lot more things you would need to do that comes with settling in a new country, obtaining residency and finding a job in Chile, if you decide to go that route. Why don't you guys take a short trip together and take your mind off visa stuff for a while? Hang in there! (L)

  3. It's 3am and I just spent the last 2 hours organizing my call history as evidence for my k1 interview. Zzzzz

Wanted to give everyone tips on how to retrieve Facetime call history as iPhone by default only shows the most recent call on the app.

My fiance and I call each other on Facetime only so it'll be a key piece of evidence. It took me a longgg time to find a solution to this and thought I would share with everyone.

I found a PC/Mac app called "Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS/Android" which allows you to retrieve all your call history including Facetime, and you could even limit your search to only your fiance's phone number.

Now, if you want to export a clean PDF of that or print it directly, you need to buy the app which cost $80.

Or you could be like me and just take screenshots of the scan result without buying the app, which took 2 hours because we have called each other exactly 761 times since we started dating :P

Hope this helps some of you out there who are struggling with the same problem.

I received the same automated response stating that their office was closed due to Holiday.

I'm callling this morning 3/16/17.  I get an automated response stating that all customer service responses are busy, please call back later.....no hold on the line no nothing.  What is going on.  Package has been at NVC for a total of 56 days.  Frustrated.

I got the same response as well and the phone hung up immediately after that message (strange). I then called again and it went back to the usual automated menu & I was able to connect to an operator. Please try calling back :)

  5. Hi guys, I got my NVC case number today :) It took a little more than 2 weeks. I think they probably received it on Monday judging from the timeline of some VJer's timelines that had the same NOA2, but NVC just reopened today but being closed for 2 days due to the snow storm so I only found out today. Hang in there for everyone who's still waiting -- you'll get there! <3

  6. Hi VJers,

Does anyone have any experience requesting IRS transcripts after an address change?

My fiance (petitioner) has moved since he filed his taxes last year. Just found out that to request transcripts in such case requires file an address change first which takes up to 6 weeks to process. Our NOA 2 was just approved and I doubt we have that much time. There is very little information available online about this issue, but I have found a post saying that we could ask over the phone for the transcripts to be faxed immediately, has anyone done that?

P.S. We're using tax transcripts because he's a freelancer who gets paid by project and his income is not very well recorded -- so we're using a joint sponsor anyways. So maybe my fiance's tax returns won't matter as much anyways and we don't have to worry about getting the IRS transcripts?

Thank you for everyone's help in advance! :)

Anyone know how nov 3rd people can maybe start making some noise to get our files looked at? Right now we've been sitting at the most files just hanging out for quite some time, with uscis working on max 2 a day, most days working on 0!

117 days & counting at this point... ??

So sorry that you had to wait this long... Must be frustrating. 87 days for me and I already feel like I couldn't wait any longer.

Hi everyone. Also a Nov filer. I have been following this thread for quiet a while and the forum is so helpful. I got my NOA2 at feb 6 and the case is currently at the embassy right now. Having been really nervous and excited for quite long time lol

I have one question: I stayed in US for 4.5 years on a f1 visa. Do I need a police certificate from US?

Also I am kinda worried that it's been over a year that I and my fiancé haven't seen each other(he joining the military and I came back to China). Is it too long? But before I came back to China, we already dated for one and half year in US ( tho still long distance relationship--him in NorCal while I was in SoCal, during school semesters we met once every month, and then spend all the major holidays, as well as all the school breaks together. We were literally everyday together during all summer and winter breaks. ). Anyway, I would like to know if us not seeing each other for over a year would be an issue? Any answer would be appreciated! Thanks! :)

    Hi afraye,

You don't need a police certificate from the US. I was a F1 student as well!

    Hi @shanakog,

Im kinda confuse with your question. Are you the beneficiary? You need to get it from your home country of course. If you stayed in a different country for the duration of 6 months or so then you need to get the police clearance as well. For my case since Iam a Filipino i got both Philippines and Singapore police clearances.. Im a resident of Singapore for 6 years now so I have to get it as well. This applies to everyone yes. I hope I answered your question. :)

    Val

    Hi Val,

I am the beneficiary! I am just confused whether I need to get a police certificate from Europe. According to the instruction on my consulate's website, "Police certificates are required from your country of residence for the past 6 months and from other countries in which you have lived for more than 12 months after age 16." I was there within the last 6 months (Aug 2016-Dec 2016) but the total duration was only for 4 months. I don't know if I am misunderstanding the statement or if the requirement from my consulate is a little weird! But if I go with what you say (only required from the countries where I stayed for more than 6 months) then I wouldn't have to worry about it. Thanks for your help anyways :)

Im kinda starting to hate Fred and Gloria now... haha

Thanks for the info. We're currently waiting for our case as it is currently "in transit" still. Will take your advise and follow up on them.

And yes each country varies requirements too!

As for Singapore consulate (as far as I know its just me @isabelleyri  :D - both pinays residing in singapore)  But might be helpful for some foreigners in singapore too.

    • There is only one accredited hospital in Singapore to do the Medical and they won't arranged any appointment for you not until you have interview date.

Fullerton Healthcare Screening Centre at Ngee Ann City

    • Police clearance (COC) - They wont entertain you not unless you have the letter from US embassy stating that you need to get this legal doc.

    • ROM (singapore) - registration of marriage is also needed which is easy to acquire (just visit the website)

& To date, i havent done any of these yet. Hahaha Kinda panicking but keeping it positive.

I hope most of NOV filers have gotten their NOA2 already! Goodluck to those who haven't got it yet but soon! im happy for everyone!

    Get ready December filers. :)

    Val

Hey Val! I have this police certificate requirement for my country as well. On my consulate's website it states that "Police certificates are required from your country of residence for the past 6 months and from other countries in which you have lived for more than 12 months after age 16."

US has been my primary residence since the age of 15 (I only go home 1-2 months every year) and I lived in Europe for a short study course from Aug 2016-Dec 2016. I am very confused as to whether I need to get a police certificate from my home country and/or Europe. (What is country of residence!?) Is the requirement same for Singapore? Do you happen to know anything about that?

I emailed my consulate and they said they refuse to answer my question until they receive my file lol. It seems that you folks at VJ are much more helpful most of the time.

Yeah, it's a mystery and we haven't been able to find out why.  On the bright side, we thought that without expediting we were in for at least another six month wait.  It was such a huge relief to come across this thread last week and find out it could be any day now :)

Ahh yes. I really hope you'll get approved soon! Seems like they're picking up speed (ish) now.

Expediting isn't a guarantee.  We attempted a medical expedite due to my partner having stage IV cancer with no success, although some people have been successful with framing a week's missed pay due to wedding plans as financial hardship.

Wow... I can't believe they would deny this kind of expedite request. That sounds like a very legitimate medical concern to me. :( I guess it depends on luck too.
