  1. Like I said all of the above were questioned. I think the consular googled my school and tested the course description. Memorize your ds120 form.

    Sample:

State your name and date of birth

How long is the course to complete?, mine is two years.( Very important to memorize the Starting date of your course there is a 30 day gap on when you enter the US)

Are you paying or sponsored?, I am sponsored

Can I see your sponsor's income tax return on the latest year?(gives 2015 because 2016 is still unavailable)

    What is your college?

    Why choose this college?

    Name your Course?

What is AAS?( this is also important she also googled or something because most applied bs or Masters)

    What is your core subjects?

Do you know some of your professors can you state them? ( I just gave the dean's name and the international staff person stating that professors can only be known after we are officially enrolled- but she googled the names I given on her monitor)

Why this college and not other colleges/universities?

Is this related to your current job/studies?

Why this course what are the current job opportunities?

Can't this be done online? ( If you Google, some colleges offers HIT as an online course)

Why then are you taking this inside the classroom instead online- my answer is on the previous post.

Do you have any relatives in the us- yes

Are you planning to take a part-time job- no going to concentrate on studies

*** Then she gave me a pamphlet on how to take part time jobs as an international student giving strict rules to follow and took my passport and that's it

*** My strong ties IS the company that I am currently working for, that they encourage me to study but I will come back to them.

*** This is coming from a single 26 year old who has no fiance/assets...  I was on the longer side, 30 minutes I think. Some student visa got theirs because they are college level or married and have children to go back to.

I tried to recall as my much as possible but that was 6 months ago I think this is most of it

  2. Per Fox New it was not gun, it was car and knife.

Will Obama come out and try to ban the selling of cars and knives?

If it as a gun related crime, he would be all over the TV and he might just shed a tear for effect.

Actually they changed the title again:

Suspect dead, at least 8 injured in "attack" at Ohio State

well journalism is all about how fast you deliver no matter how the actual facts are, they just changed it to "attack" instead of gun or shooter

  3. https://us.yahoo.com/news/ohio-state-issues-active-shooter-alert-153924393.html#comments

So this university is supposed to be one that I was going to apply (along with San Diego and Southern Nevada)

Is this common in the USA? I just want my degree so companies at home will want my sexy international credentials

Philippines has suicide students from UP... heck even at my University someone jump at the finals. but we have no homicides

I want my degree but don't want to die from it :crying:

I think I'm the first one to die in that scenario (the bumbling fat guy)

  4. Well I would go for semi- casual BUT during the interview (my mom's idea) is to dress appropriately to show them that I have some money or look sophisticated (she works in HR)

=Pick white, light blue, light gray polo shirt (light colors for cleanliness)--- no blazer overkill (can wear tie if you have a manager position, if not just skip it)

=Find light brown/ black slacks-- don't forget the belt

=wear leather shoes (if using rubber try the casual one, not the sports or flashy basketball one)

***If you have tattoos on you arms wear long sleeves

-----Usually at work I just wear a collared shirt and khaki pants so I need to buy those :crying:

But I'm a student visa though? I remembered the family in front of also wore long sleeves for the husband. The wife wore some dress (the one that moms wear to go to church, "conservative") and the baby wore normal baby clothes?

So the plan was this but I was so nervous (sometimes it just depends on luck i guess o.O )

  5. So my strong ties is likely because of Job opportunities here at home vs in the USA*** by that named 4 top companies that would hire me if I have a degree on this AAS course

Also I concentrated on my studies by

    1) Naming my college accomplishments (pass rates and such)

    2) Naming my professors and there credentials

    3) My subjects (1 memorized the first sem BUT I stated the core subjects that are RELATED TO MY JOB, skipped English 101 math 101 and focused on coding and pharmacology)

    4) Diversity of college campus (Won't only be the Filipino Guy)

    5) the kind of set-up in the college (internships, laboratories, 1-1 tutorial, ESL program)

***The Consular asked me they are online courses why didn't I take that: I explained because they have passed the ACCREDITATION INSTITUTE (Philippines doesn't have that===felt like they were just scams)

  6. 5'5''? Try 5'1''....;)

Americans don't really care about height so much. I mean sure, it's harder for us short people to sit in a chair and get our feet on the ground, or to see in a movie theater, but beyond that.. just because you're short isn't going to be problem. At your height I don't see you in the kids section either. Men's small and medium should do. The problem you might have is trouser length (it's hell for me as a woman).

You know, my husband recently went to a local college for an interview the other week. I happen to know one of the students... he's short-statured. And despite his size he's a popular guy, with lots of friends, holds a job, and is one of the most joyful people you could ever want to meet. He never lets anything or anyone stop him.

Thanks for the encouragement but truthfully speaking, after work I just do generally 3 things

    1) Eat

    2) Sleep

    3) Watch youtube videos

***I'm a very bland person (Interacting with people face-face scares the bejeebers with me) that is why I like the supportive role instead of the main cast

Also my interview was this don't know how the hell I passed o.O

  7. If you live in a big city where there are a lot of immigrants, men your height are pretty common. And while it's shorter than average, it's not THAT short. I've had male friends your height or close to it and I didn't even notice their height. I really don't think it'll be a problem.

I can't speak for others, but bullying is more of a middle school/high school thing. In college and university, people tend to be a bit more mature...people are too busy with exams and their own personal lives to care much about who's short or not. There might be a token bully or someone who tries to pick on you, but if that happens, just avoid those people. They aren't worth your time.

Concerning employment: for most jobs, nobody will care. Certain jobs where physical traits and appearances are more important, it might be a factor, but most places are not likely to care about your height.

Oh and I forgot to mention: people might just mistake you as being younger than you are. You will probably be ID'ed more than taller people. Slightly annoying, but you'll get used to it.

I have a bushy beard and look more middle eastern than a "Filipino". So looking young is the least of my worries.

PS: Don't got to bars (I don't drink alcohol), my co-workers tease me that I'm a "man-child" because I like to drink chocolate milk and watch old Saturday cartoons.

In retrospect I think they're right if bullying is in my agenda :dancing:

  8. I don't believe that trump is racist but I believe all racist (white) all voted for Trump.***This means racist minorities voted for Hilary

This is why republicans are labeled as "bigots" as Muslims to "terrorist". (The irony that bith groups can't see the similarities)

Really don't like the part about "ethnic cleansing" in his speech though... its like the native Americans all over again.

  9. Just wondering how people are treated in accordance with their height?

I have a general idea on what people stereotype me when I go there because of my race but I'm more interested on Height.

I'm 5'5ft and 27 years old. In my country that's relatively normal for an adult male (5'8-6ft and above are giants)

So anyone encounters some social awkwardness???

Most likely I'm going to buy my clothes at the children's department, I may be classified as a pedo

Like to here some stories whether personal or a friend's experience... especially in college because I'm studying there.(hopefully)

  10. That may not be enough to land you a US visa.

    So the generic answer is

"I would like to study HIT because there is no accredited currently school in the Philippines, they have online courses but don't have hands on experience in the actual job.

Most of hospitals and pharmaceutical companies are focusing on Information technology pertaining to Patient charts, drug-drug compatibility and even some legal documents in accordance with Food Drug Administration. They took notice that there is a more efficient way to record information rather than the old paper file system. We are currently engaging in using kiosk or computer stations so the medical staff can focus on their primary duties.

Health information technicians focuses on analysis, coding and release of information in the health care team so medication errors would be minimized. This will broaden my chances in entering top companies such as Pfizer or Glaxosmithkline in my home country.

I chose US because they are well known in promulgating on IT, and created well known medias such as Facebook or instagram. They even created Lexicomp (An online clinical drug database) which is currently used in St. Lukes Medical Center the top hospital in my country,

  11. You are applying for a student visa right? I think if you don't have any financial ties, then having a family in the Philippines can be one. This may come up during interview though. Also, there's the acceptance letter from your university of choice and your mom's financial support since I'm assuming she's sponsoring you. There's really not much ties you can present at this point. Like they said, just be honest.

    I just hope my sister and dad are enough. The real reason why I want to apply an HIT is for the bragging rights to my friends that I studied at the US. They usually tease me that I the smartest in our group isn't a doctor even the one I helped on the NMAT exam is now a cardiologist ;_;

  12. So my details are I'm a 27 regulatory pharmacist trying to get an AAS in Health Information Technology degree in the US

(My choices are This OR Adelaide University in Australia because I have relatives that I could stay= less expenses)

I'm confident in the college that I have chosen except for STRONG TIES

Do you have a house= No, renting a condominium

Do you have a "good balance account'= No (I'm being sponsored) my balance is like $1400.00

Do you have a car= yes

Do you have a GF =No

Do you have a business= I don't think money changer/remittance is a business... its more of my fathers thing than mine (Also don't have supporting documents)

***My aunt is a green card holder & My mom is the H1b visa both in the US

In all honesty I just want the degree because it is accredited and not some online thing so I can be a hired in a top pharmaceutical company like GlaxoSmithKline or Pfizer (currently working on a small importer)

There is no "Accredited" HIT in my country just some online degrees, I don't know if its a scam or not

Preffer the US because lots of minorities unlike the Australia, heck my cousins are bullied even if they are natural born citizens

    Suggestions for strong ties?
