Hi all,

Finally graduated from n400 section over to here. Thanks for all the great info on visajourney.

I am going to start petition for my parents to come live with us. Below are a few initial questions I have, and hope they can get answered.

1.  My stepfather has been living with us ever since I was 11, even though my parents didn't get legally married until I was 20. I understand for me to petition for him, their marriage has to happen before I turned 18, but is there anyway we can claim this as common law? 
2. My parents are visiting for the next 4 months on B1/2, can I do AOS while they are here on B1/2? Or should I wait until they go back to home country and then start I130?
3. Say option 1 doesn't work, then if my mom will have to petition for my stepfather once she gets her GG. And this will be F2A visa? F2A may take 2 years or plus to get approve. Can my stepfather still come to visit us with his valid B1/B2 visa?

Added my case. Finally got oath scheduled for June 14th. I've learnt a lot here. And wish everyone here good luck.
The entire N400 process has been the most smooth experience with USCIS, it had only took 7 months total. 
I had a joint I751 and N400 interview on May 21st, and was given a decision cannot be made.
However the IO told me its mainly because he had to adjust my I751 in the system, and then N40.
I left with a promise from the IO that I should expect my oath in June. 
A week later from the interview, both my I751 and N400 status have changed to the final step.

I am on the same boat.

I had my n400 interview scheduled, but USCIS de-scheduled it soon after. I did an info pass, and was told, they were waiting for some interviewers who are qualified to do n400 and i751 joint interviews.

I just received an interview appointment letter today for I751. I am confused. 

Did you receive two separate interview letters for I751 and N400?

I finally received a mail from USCIS, saying we are required to go in for an interview regarding the I751 petition. 

Any idea why this is happening?

N400 update is Noa 22th october 2017, and now Interview scheduled on April 16th 2018.

 

I need to know if any one in chicago field office had before N400 interview and his I751 still pending? If so how it goes? Do I take my wife with me to the interview or no? Thanks all

HI Ahmed666, I am on the same boat. 

I was scheduled 3/28 for n400 interview, however they descheduled me last week saying due to unforseen reasons.

I had an infopass this morning in San Jose Field office. 

I was told that not all interviewers are trained to interview 751 and n400 combined interview. Which is why they had to reschedule my interview based on qualified interviewer's availability.

I am a Nov 2017 filer, I received an interview letter a while ago saying my interview is scheduled for March 28th. I had to therefore push my international flight out. 

I received another letter in my mail today, 2 weeks before the interview, saying my interview is descheduled. 

This is to advise you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the previously scheduled interview.

Any idea why this is happening?

I filed my N400 online. So I can see both my N400 status and I751 status once I log into my USCIS account.

My INFOPASS this afternoon was not a great USCIS experience at all (oh well, is there even any good experience?)

I had my appointment at 1:30, got there 1:20. Passed security smoothly, and was given a number right after. My number was called right away. The lady collected my GG, NOA, as well as passport for stamp, and told me to go back to the lobby and wait for my number to be called again. 

I then waited in the lobby until 2. The entire time I was waiting, there were only 3 windows opening. Each window probably served one number at the most. No wonder it is so hard to get an appointment! They are definitely was than DMV. lol

I was called back to the window at 2pm, and the same lady gave me back my NOA, GG, and passport with a stamp. She said: here is your new GG extension for a year. 

I was trying to ask about rescheduling my naturalization interview due to some upcoming travel. She cut me off before I could even finishing. SUPER RUDE.

She told me that you made an appointment to get the stamp, and we gave you the stamp. No further questions can be answered here. 

She also said: I am an officer who gives you the stamp, and I did my job. For any other rescheduling request, you should go back read your instruction assuming you speak and read English. I don't know what they would do, I am not an officer there. And I can not guess what they will do.  Blah blah blah....

I wish there is some place you can file a complaint. At least I vented it out here. 

Like most of you here, my status have also changed twice lately - Feb 26 and March 5. 

I was finally able to make an infopass appointment at SF center for today, which I am heading over in 15 mins. 

Ironically, my naturalization interview appointment letter also showed up in my mailbox last week. It is scheduled for March 28th.

I am an Oct CSC filer too. How do I even check my case status online?

I have two WAC number on i797-c, one keeps getting me error, while the other one just tells me fees were waived. 

And so far I only have (751 receipt notice and I797C in hand. Am I missing anything?

Call and ask for your case number (it's sent with the bio letter). The agent I spoke to told me that if they don't have it within 45 days of your NOA1, they'll put you through to a tier 2 agent who can sort things out.

I did ask for my case #. The agent was not that friendly to begin with. She told me once the service request has been submitted, there is nothing else she could help me besides waiting. I also asked about Tier 2 agent. She told me there is no certain thing.

Have you got your bio scheduled yet?

Just took a look at November 2016 thread - seems like a lot of them have been scheduled for bio appointment for CSC. How come Oct is going so slow?

I got my NOA1 on 10/17, called to request for bio on 11/21, and still haven't heard anything back from them.

Called USCIS again today, the agent told me I have to wait at least 30 days for response. Is that normal. Last time the agent said to wait 15 days before call back.

Has anyone received biometrics appt from CSC yet? I just called the 800 number and the lady told me they can't request anything until 30 days after I received my NOA1. Mine NOA1 was dated 10/20. So gotta call back on 11/21.
