  1. Posting ceremony experience for those that have one coming up.

Mine was yesterday October 14. Arrived about 30 minutes early at the Saint Paul river center. Parking across the street was $10. I guess they do multiple ceremonies in a day because there were hundreds , maybe thousands of people there. Waiting in line for them to check documents , take your forms in was 30 minutes and the actual ceremony was maybe 5 minutes. In and out I guess they are doing it for Covid. In fact while we were walking out the ballroom next door was taking the oath 🤣

Anyways good luck to everyone here. It was kind of sad to see so many people there just for Naturalization ceremonies but there is very little engagement on these forums. Thank you so much for all those that have posted and helped. For now my Journey is complete

  2. Posting my contribution for this thread since we do not have many recent posts.

    Interview in August 2021

    Oath Ceremony October 12, 2021

So about a year in total from start to finish. Interview was straight forward the same as everyone else, except they did not give an approval on the spot for mine and said a " Decision could not be made". They told me at the interview to expect and update the next day but it was about 2 and a half weeks until my status updated to approval and then oath scheduled.

Will update my full timeline soon , I need to get exact dates😁

Good Luck to everyone and thank you all for the information posted here its really helpful.

My husband had his n-400 interview August 26th. We arrived at Federal Plaza NYC at 10:30 for his 10:55 appointment, they told us to come back 10 minutes later as you can't arrive move than 15 minutes before. We got to room 8-100 and the security guard told me I cannot go inside with him, only the petitioner is allowed in. So I sat in the park across from Federal Plaza for FOUR HOURS. They took him in the room at 2:15 and he was out by 2:45.

He passed the civics test with flying colors. We put together a humongous binder with copies of everything we have together, utilities, lease, insurance, 401K, bank statements, 150 photos from 2017-2021, wedding album etc. He didn't ask for ANY documentation, literally not even one document. However, we didn't include my W2's (even though he had tax returns for the last 3 years) and his *first* 2 year greencard (he only took his 10 year gc with him). The officer said he needs to come back on Tuesday (today) 8AM, to deliver the remaining documents. My husband went there this morning, hand delivered the documents to the officer, was in and out in less than 5 minutes. The officer then called his cell when my husband got in the car asking about my W2's, my company is HQ'd in Washington DC however my office is in NYC so he wanted to clarify why the W2 had Washington DC- so my husband explained why and then the officer said ok no problem thank you for the explanation "we will mail you a notice with the decision"....

And the wait begins.. I'm so bummed out- i thought this would all be behind us but unfortunately we have to wait and see what they decide. I don't foresee them not approving his application, can anyone think of a reason? I would assume the officer would let him know if there were any issues, right?

I interviewed in Minneapolis on 08/26 too and got the same thing, decision cannot be made. Another person from the same office in August said they got the same thing. Let me know if you get any updates

Interesting. I think they might update you as soon as they find you a spot for any upcoming ceremony. The ceremonies don’t seem to be held very often due to covid. It’s nerve racking. I will keep you updated.

Yes, it is. My online status still shows “Interview was scheduled”

Oh no, that’s not good. Mine still has not changed, I’m just confused cause they said it would be done the next afternoon...

I wouldn’t think it’s cause we are waiting for oaths I think they are doing them in St. Paul every month now? Just so frustrating I guess cause I read other field offices schedules oaths the next day or same day sometimes. Just want this to be over

Sorry to hear that. It’s disappointing. No. I was not given any reason. I was simply told to wait for the decision in mail.  Were you told why a decision cannot be made yet?

I am guessing the officers might be new, and they do not have the authority to even recommend for approval. The results need to be reviewed by their supervisors.

No she said that everything looked good and she sees no reason or any issues for a denial but she needed to send it to her supervisor. She said it should be done by this afternoon but it still shows no updates online.

    is yours still pending ?!

Yes. I wore my mask for the entire time inside. No, they only allow atterney in if you have one. No one else is allowed. Not even interpreter, all interpreters are through phone. It’s actually noted in your interview letter, regarding to both masks and who you can bring.  So I would read the letter just in case your letter is different from mine. Good luck!

I got the same thing as you " Decision Cannot Be Made"... Did they say why to you? The lady I had was super nice and everything went well

Was your n400 on the 3 year rule?

  8. Hello Everyone,

My interview is coming up next week and getting a little nervous. If anyone can tell me if I am missing something to take with please let me know:

    Taking with me the following:

    -PASSPORT AND GREENCARDS

    -MARRIAGE CERT

    -TAX TRANSCRIPTS

-EVEIDENCE OF A PAST CITATION PAID

-JOINT BANK ACCOUNTS AND LATEST MORTAGE STATEMENT

    -SELECTIVE SERVICE CARDS

    -MY HUSBAND WILL COME WITH

Anything I am missing? Much appreciated thank you!

  9. Hello Everyone and hope you are well! I just had some questions since interview is coming up this month, would appreciate any input.

Is our spouse required to be present? I filed under the 3 year rule ( marriage based) but my conditions were removed over a year ago. I guess just bring some proof of mortgage / bank statements to show we are still married?

The Civics test questions, on the PDF from USCIS there are some questions with multiple bullet points for answers, I assume just one of those is acceptable? For example Question 2 says :

What does the Constitution do? ▪ sets up the government ▪ defines the government ▪ protects basic rights of Americans

So would I say just one of those or all of them?

    Thanks !

  10. Hello!

Has anyone had any experience providing proof of paid citations for year old fines? I forgot about an old ticket I got ( For $20 in 2014) for not wearing a seatbelt and did not disclose it on the application. From my reading it shouldn't be a big issue but I would like to bring it up when they ask and provide paperwork.

I called the sheriffs office where the citation was issued and she was kind enough to send me a copy but said there is no record anymore of them being paid. Any ideas? Do you think they are going to want me to provide proof I paid it? I know for sure I did, in fact I paid it as soon as I got home, I would have got a judgement or something if I did not.

    Hello everyone,

I just found out about this thread yesterday ...I have read the whole 130 pages :D

So just to add my story... I have 751 still pending. I have applied back in January 2020. Last update I have is from March this year when my status has changed to "case was transferred and a new office has jurisdiction". Meanwhile I have applied for N-400 in March 2021 and surprisingly got letter now in April to be scheduled for interview in June.

    - My biggest question is about bringing the spouse because of i751 pending - even the NOA letter does not mention to bring spouse (COVID situation) nor any mention about combo interview but I have read the discussion of the Speaker on Homeland security website and they specifically say there that if i751 is pending you should bring your spouse (could be really based on individual case then). I have sent inquiry through online system asking about this but haven't got any reply yet. I will bring my spouse with me anyway and at the worst case they will just turn him around but at least they will know he is around or something if there is a chance of combo interview.

    - My other concern is with taxes...some of you mentioned that if you owed some money on taxes that they did not approve you and requested additional evidence of paying it off or something? We owe a little and have it spread into monthly instalments so not sure how that will go (will show them evidence of that if that is what could help).

    - In case they do not make decision on N-400 because of pending i751, did you guys still get the stamp? In case it is approved in June and my extention expires the end of June, do I still need to get a stamp until the Oath? Weird question and pretty forward but I am just curious...

    Thank you all!

I don’t understand any logic of USCIS. I applied in October but you get an interview after applying for a month lol? My I751 was approved when you applied too.

    Congratulations though !

What a roller-coaster!! My interview was re-scheduled for the same date, after being cancelled - less than 24 hour notice, got the email notification and the office called me to ensure I knew or had received the notification....

Any word on Oath schedules, so far it seems like the last update is the group of May 6? - Had a good friend who had both N400 and Oath on the same day but they did not have a pending i751.

Can I ask when you filed ?

Just found the thread here! Had another account but outlook won't send me the password...🙃

Put in an address change 3 weeks ago and got my interview scheduled letter on Friday. Surprised to only get a months notice? A bit worried because I also have a pending i-751 which was filed late but was accepted. Should my husband come with me for the interview or should I call and ask them? 6 hr drive each way with 2 toddlers sounds less than ideal!

I think it’s required if your I-765 is pending. Take a look at the notice

Wow you filed May 2020 and got an interview!?! What strings did you pull to manage that? Lol. I applied January of 2020 and no sign of interview 😳. I also have a pending i751 from 2018.

I spoke to someone last week who filed in August 2020 and Interviewed in Feb! For an N400..... I Guess some peoples files are just clean and clear so they fly through
