The priority date should be under your 'receipt number' on your NOA1. Lol yes, there's no point to pursue the EAD/AP case now. Good luck and please do post your interview experience. Good luck! :)

Oh...I don't have that in front of me to check right now but the first update from USCIS was on April 10 if that helps?

    Thanks, will do!

    Congratulations!

    What is your PD?

    Thanks!

    Where can I check that?

And if you've received your EAD/AP, may I please know when you received those, as well? :) I'm wondering if they simply don't bother with pursuing EAD/AP cases, if the interview is scheduled as soon as yours.

Nope. Our case was on hold since April 24th because we got an RFIE that never showed up in the mail. We got an infopass and got the letter finally and mailed in our response earlier this month. So yeah, I'm not gonna bother with the EAD/AP with the interview only a month away.

Yes, I consider August 'soon' for April filers. :D

Hehe yeah...we're especially happy since nothing was happening with our case between April 24th - July 11th (when they received the response to the RFIE)

  3. Hi guys,

On June 19 our case was ready to be scheduled for an interview and today, July 27th, it says our interview is scheduled for August 30th. Does anyone know approximately when I should expect the interview notice in the mail? We've already had problems with mail not being delivered for my wife at our address so I'm being carious (an issue I'm hoping is sorted by now but who knows)

Have you signed up for the service mentioned below? It might be worth it given your situation:

Hey, I didn't know about this, thanks!

On a separate note, I just got an update saying our case is ready to be scheduled for an interview. It's crazy how our case went from getting an RFIE back in April and it took us over 2 months to reply because they kept returning the RFIE notice as "undeliverable by USPS" to now being scheduled for an interview within 10 days!

Anyone have an idea roughly how long it takes to receive the notice in the mail?

  5. Quick question: I sent my response to a Request for Initial Evidence last week that was received and signed by USCIS this past Saturday, July 8th, as shown by USPS tracking I had on it. Any idea roughly how long I should wait for the case status to update with the acknowledgement that they've receipt my response or are there any other actions I can take? I'm a bit scared because the 87 day response deadline is on July 20th.

you are welcome and i do think even a crude cut and paste job should be enough... did u try talking with one of the mailmen that work your route?

No, didn't think to do that because I don't know how many mailmen are assigned to that route and I work different shifts week-to-week my schedule doesn't line up with their delivery times. But you've given me an idea...after I get something official in the mailbox I'll have one of the property manager speak to one of the mailmen.

I think the general consensus is that if you receive an RFIE(not just RFE) then EAD and AP gets delayed by however many days it took for you to submit the evidence after they sent out the RFIE.(or the 90 day clock gets reset! I have heard it both ways, pretty sure its the reset thing :() So unless you can expedite or you get lucky, I would say add the number of days you took to submit the evidence to the original 90 days and you will get an idea of when to expect a decision on your EAD/AP... Lets just hope it doesn't come to that and you get lucky and get them sooner... Pray and keep your fingers crossed...

P.S. I don't have any idea what you can do to fix the USPS problem but i would suggest its very important that you get it fixed somehow as thats the route through which this whole process happens... I saw somebody on here suggesting that you put your name as well as your wife's on the mailbox especially if you are in an apartment complex...

Yeah, I think you're right. I just found this on USCIS's website:

    Quote

The required times in which USCIS must make a decision on a Form I-765 are:

    • Ninety (90) days of receipt of applications filed under categories other than asylum-based, or

    • Thirty (30) days if filing for an initial EAD based upon a pending asylum case.

One exception to this rule is if USCIS requires initial or additional evidence. If initial is evidence is requested, the processing time will start from zero upon receipt of the requested evidence. If additional evidence is requested, the processing time limit is extended by the amount of time it takes for you to receive the request for evidence and respond to it. Also, the processing time is extended when a request for evidence is issued for any form filed concurrently with Form I-765.

    Sigh.

I did put her name in the mailbox. It was a crude cut & paste job while I get something official done but yeah I need to get that officially sorted by the apartment management.

    Thanks for your reply!

  8. Hi guys

My wife (the K1 fiance, now wife) and I are April, 2017 filers as well and I have a few concerns I'm hoping one of you guys can shed some light on.

About 10-15 days after submitting our paperwork for her AOS we received our receipts via mail and about a couple of weeks after that my wife received her biometrics appointment letter. On the day she received her appointment letter we received a notice on USCIS website saying they had issued a Request for Initial Information. We kept waiting and waiting and nothing came so I called them on the 2 week mark and they said they'd re-send. 2 weeks later we received another notice saying that it was returned to USCIS by USPS because it was not deliverable. Again they said they'd resend. In the meantime I contacted USPS and asked them why they weren't delivering the letter when the last 4 times (3 receipts for I-485, EAD, AP, and biometrics appointment letters) were received at the same address. The customer rep at the main office was really helpful but the local office wasn't helpful at all. Long story short I scheduled a Infopass and was able to get a copy of the Req. for Initial Information. Since then the post office has returned another copy of the letter that the USCIS supposedly mailed out.

For some dumb reason USCIS wanted a copy of my wife's birth certificate in the native language in addition to the English one I had submitted. It was never an issue when I filed for her I-129 but I guess they just needed an excuse to delay the case. Not to mention that English is an official language of her country of origin and thus her English birth certificate is original and a copy of it in the native language should not be required. Anyway, it took over a month for my in-laws to obtain a copy of the certificate due to local bureaucracy's and I've just submitted it to the USCIS; 2 weeks short of the deadline.

The other issue is that the 90 day mark on her EAD/AP was up on July 2nd and we've received no notifications regarding those at all. When I go to track those cases it's blank, nothing has changed since they received the case in back in early April. Maybe it has something to do with the 4th of July weekend or is EAD/AP dependent on the I-485? I don't know.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone has anyone could shed some light on this and/or have any tips what I can do. Thanks!

  9. Yes you must use one of they approved couriers

Ok in that case, my fiance went to AEG Travel Services/American Express and they're asking her to register at ustraveldocs.com and to show an email confirmation of her UID number. We've tried this, they don't send an email confirmation and I don't think they will until one schedules an interview on there...which is not possible with a K1 Fiance visa because the embassy is to give us that date once they've processed the documents from Packet 3...there isn't even an option for K1 on the site. So what do we do now?

  10. I'm trying to send packet 3.5 to the US embassy...do I have to use one of the official couriers provided by the embassy or am I free to use any (reliable) courier service, such as DHL or FedEx, etc? The one listed by the embassy is being extremely difficult to deal with.

PS: I don't mean to spam the message board, it's just that my fiance and I have lost several days here going back and forth with the courier service.

  11. Hi everyone,

My fiance is trying to send her Packet 3.5 via AEG Travel Services/American Express, which is listed as an official courier of the US Embassy in Islamabad, but the people there refuse to send her documents without a UID number and without an email confirmation. She's created an account there but there's no email confirmation whatsoever. We've lost 3 days doing this back and forth with the courier company. Does anyone know what to do?!

PS: This is for a K1 Fiance visa.

  12. Hi my fiance received Packet 3.5 and the instructions state to use an official courier service. The list provided by the embassy lists SpeedEx Multan (my fiance resides in Multan) as their official courier in the city but a visit to their office and they revealed they no longer have this contract with the embassy. So fiance tried FedEx but they referred her to AEG Travel Services. They say they do deliver to the embassy and asked to see our letter before delivering it. I've sent an email to the embassy to get an official word but God knows when they'll get around to replying if at all.

So basically I have a few questions and I'd greatly appreciate some advice if anyone is familiar with this or if they've run into the issue.

    1. Should we go ahead and take AEG at their word and just send it through them?

    2. I have a feeling AEG and American Express is the same company. If so, SpeedEx is a satellite comment of American Express which makes me think AEG is legit and this is who this should be sent through. Is this assumption correct?

    3. Wait in agony for the embassy to reply to my email and delay the case?
