  1. I am a US citizen by birth. My parents were both born in the Philippines. My parents arrived in the US in the early 70s and became US citizens about a year before I was born so they could sponsor their parents and siblings, which I guess means they gave up their Philippine citizenship? Then in 2003 i guess the Philippine government says you can't lose your Philippines citizenship due to naturalization in a foreign country and gives them the opportunity to re-acquire it. My parents have not applied for dual citizenship but will do so eventually.

My question is assuming they get their Philippine citizenship back because they never should have lost it in the first place and knowing that any child born to a Philippine mother makes them a Philippine citizen, does that make me qualified to apply for dual citizenship as well? If no, can I do anything?

I guess the reason why I'm asking this is because of

    1) Almost all of my fiancee's family and some of my family live in the Philippines and so I may have extended stays over there.

    2) Eventually I'd like to purchase land and/or property with my fiancee so we wouldn't have to rely on staying with her family or my family when we visit.

This might help to answer your question :)

    DUAL CITIZENSHIP

Republic Act 9225 otherwise known as the Citizenship Retention and Reacquisition Act of 2003 (more popularly known as the Dual Citizenship Law) enables former natural-born Filipinos who have become naturalized citizens of another country to reacquire/retain their Philippine citizenship by taking an oath of allegiance to the Republic of the Philippines before a Philippine Consular Officer. Upon reacquiring their Philippine citizenship, they shall enjoy full civil, economic and political rights as Filipinos.

Under the principle of derivative citizenship, unmarried children below eighteen (18) years of age, whether legitimate, illegitimate, or adopted, of former Filipino parents who reacquired their Philippine citizenship under this law, may also be deemed Filipino citizens, if they are included in the parent’s application for reacquisition of Philippine citizenship.

However, there is another kind of dual citizenship, which is not covered by the law. This pertains to a dual citizen by birth: A child born in the United States when either parent was still a Filipino citizen is considered to be a dual citizen from birth (if born on or after January 17, 1973).

  2. I'm Filipina,I too came from a province and poor family. Dreams? I know I really wanted to be married and have kids and this is one of my biggest dream. And now its already happened so I dream more like someday I want hubby and I to travel around the world and when we get old I dream of us living in an island back in the Philippines with a nice beach and then watch the sunset together:) Just dreaming.....

  3. Never tell them that Aswang and witches aren't real. Haven't you heard the hundreds of stories about why its real, it must be real... I just let her go on and tell me all and then when she asks if I believe, I still say no but it's ok if she does.

There is Moo Moo in the Boulavard Mansion hotel across from the embassy, I won't even stay there Again, haha...

Is that for real? We stayed there so many times already..never seen one:)

  4. In a couple of weeks hubby and I are going to celebrate our 5th year wedding anniversary. He has different taste when it comes to food and so do I. He doesn't like filipino food and I don't like american food. But this differences of ours its not a big deal for us at all. I cook filipino food anytime I want. He cook some of his meals once in a while but most of the time I do the cooking for him.

Did I heard you right? Are you complaining about your wife not cooking this time? Your wife is pregnant and she is almost close to her due date. When I was pregnant I hate spending time in the kitchen standing because its really hurt your back so I always asked my husband to just buy some fast food for us and all I want is to lay on the couch all day .It's not being lazy it just that you don't have energy standing and moving around. I hope you understand your wife situation. Give her a break:)

  5. We will stick to her 2 names since I already have a problem with my maiden name as my middle name :girlwerewolf2xn: . I know in the Philippines we use our mother's maiden name as our middle name when we are still single, then we just change it when we become married and use our father's last name to our new middle name. Too complicated, specially that you can't do that here in the United States, You can't change your middle name just like that here. Now I'm still using my mother's maiden name as my middle name since that's what it is in my GC and in my Social Security.

Same here...The USCIS used my mother's maiden name as my middle name when they issued my GC so I'm stuck with that unless i'm going to have it change during my Citizenship interview.

  6. That's awesome!!! I have been trying to find out if they do the same day oath...and everything I have been seeing is that Yes they do same day oath...but I would love to find someone who has done their testing after January just to confirm. But no such luck.

I read in the other forum somebody posted there that his wife had an interview at Sacramento field office and he confirmed that they had same day oath taking. But yeah it's nice if there are more people to confirmed this.

  7. the only story which hasn't come true is my wife dreamed of having twins early in the pregnancy.... so far only one ultrasound, and they only found one baby. So, maybe that one is not quite true... but then again... maybe not this time, but maybe next time.

yes she is always scratching, rubbing her tummy... so have to wait and see on the hair.

she does not each much in chocolate or other dark meat.

she did see her mom give birth to her two younger siblings... so have to wait and see. Her younger siblings are the ages of my boys. So sometimes it is hard for her since the step-children are the ages of her younger sister and brother.

Only about 10 weeks to go. Silence will be gone. But she will be back to "normal" for her. Just glad the baby will be born BEFORE the main summer heat of Phoenix arrives.

Itchy tummy during pregnancy doesn't mean you are having a baby with lots of hair :) Been pregnant 2 times and both my pregnancies I had always itchy tummy and both my babies came out bald..well not really bald but less hair.During pregnancy as you go farther along your tummy stretch to accomodate the growing baby that when it got itchy. I used a lot of Palmers cocoa butter lotion to ease the itchiness and also to prevent having stretch mark. :)

  8. Obviously the USCIS is not communicating with the IRS. USCIS is asking you to provide information (tax transcripts) with a form that was once used to verify filing status as an alternative to actual tax returns. The Form 1722 is basically a 4506-T. USCIS is asking you for tax transcripts using an old form.

    Leatherneck Thanks a lot!

  9. Form 1722 is an obsolete form. It was used to request account information for purposes of applying for mortgages, student loans, etc. If you want to order return transcripts you should do so on the IRS website. Here is the link for ordering transcripts:

    Order a Transcript

I have my IRS Tax return transcript already.I' m just confused about the form 1772. Thank you guys for the clarification about this matter.

  10. No, Form 1722 is entirely different from a Tax Return Transcript. Form 1722 is used to verify your tax filing status for the previous three years, as either current, delinquent or there was no requirement that you file.

does everybody required to bring this or im one of the few.

  11. Hubby snores but not a lot. Everytime he does though I woke him up and just asked him to sleep on his side and sometimes that works. I remember one night I can't stop him from snoring so I just grab my pillows and blanket and sleep inside the closet :)

  12. Hi..do you guys pay extra ba pag nag sputum smear kayo? Grabe na pala ka strict ang St. Lukes. Nong time ko noon wala namang ganyan. Nong sa akin way back 2006 parang may cloud daw yong X-ray ko tapos yong ginawa lang eh they just took another x-ray with different position "lateral "yata tawag don and that its.And I was good to go.
