Yes Try calling them again. Did you already apply for Citizenship?

On hold now! Fingers crossed. I haven't applied for citizenship yet but I'm currently filling out the application and plan to before the new fees take place. I wanted to wait to get the ADIT stamp so that when I scan in my documents at least something is valid...

doesnt matter whether you qualify based on 3 or 5 years. just answer the question for what it is asked. Travel history for the last 5 years whether you lived in Idaha or Australia is not an issue here .

Well, right, but it makes the difference of hundreds of days: 08/25/2015 - 02/25/2017 is over a year, so if I fill it out for the ~year and a half before I even entered the US it looks very bad. So I'm wondering if anyone has filled it out this way before, and if they have had any trouble with it. Did you have the same issue?

The N400 application is not specific to 3 or 5 year “rule”. Since you are filing based on marriage just include the 3 year travel history- the rest is irrelevant.

Right, I get that. So should I just stop filling out the travel at my entry date 02/25/2017? Would it not be omission to not fill out the 5 years, or would they figure taht out based on my entry date?

  4. Hi all,

I'm filing out my N400 online as a spouse of a US citizen - so I've been in the US since 02/25/2017. On the online form it asks for travel history for 5 years, even though for my case it'll only count as 3 years. Should I continue to fill this out normally for the 5 years, even though it'll show that I've been out of the US for a high amount of days (due to the fact that I didn't move here until 02/25/2017)

    Thanks!

  5. Hello,

I have been in Canada for a a few months due to Covid and it's now time for me to return home to New York. My greencard expired on 2/25/19 and my extension letter expires this month, on August 25. I HAD airline travel booked for the 24th but it has now been cancelled, and I'm finding it very difficult to get a flight out of here before then now. I am definitely going to keep trying my hardest to leave before then.

In the event that it's impossible for me to do so, do I have any options, especially during COVID? I know that my *status* doesn't expire, just the extension letter and therefore the proof of my status expires. Is there any option for me to get the stamp in my passport from an embassy or consulate here in Canada? Will I have a lot of trouble at the airport or would it be a scenario of some extra chatting and the immigration officers looking up proof?

    Any help appreciated!

For people who is in " ready to be scheduled for an interview" state whose 18 month extension is expiring within 3 months? Has anyone called USCIS or received any feedback?

Yep. My extension letter expires in August 2020, have been "ready to schedule" since April 2019. I haven't called USCIS yet, but I did submit a "case taking longer than expected" request. I was supposed to hear back from that by May 16, but haven't yet....l.

Same for me: yesterday I send the inquiry for "case out of time", I did it online and I received automatic response saying that they will answer me later May-06th.  So, same thing, this crazy waiting.  I am from Texas, Nov-01-2018, transferred to NBC on Jan-29-2000 after I filled N400 on Jan-15.  So, let's wait good news.  I joined a group on Hello Foros, some people with similar cases have been approved a few days ago, so it is good to know that they are working administratively.

Where did you find the form for the "case out of time"?

  8. I have an extension letter that will be expiring end of August 2020 - I was planning on getting a stamp in my passport if my case hadn’t moved.
It seems likely, however, that I’ll be needing to go to my parents house in Canada this weekend due to a family emergency and I am worried about travel bans that might happen before I am able to come back to the US (specifically because I live in NYC). If WORSE CASE scenario happens and Covid-19 lasts until the end of August and I’m stuck in Canada and my Extension letter expires while my case is still be judged what could possibly happen? Who would I contact? I’m very worried about the possibility of leaving and not being able to come back due to the virus.

  9. Hello!
I’m a November 2018 filer and my 18 month extension letter is expiring on August 20. I’m have a MSC number and am in NYC, which is a very slow field office, it seems. My case has been “ready for interview” since April 4 2019.

I have plans to travel for research to Canada (my home country) in the summer, and ideally would be gone for 1.5 months straight for time/budget reasons. At first I was planning on travelling July and August, but since my extension letter is expiring in August I decided to move it earlier, which is fine.

Except I’m worried that if I try to re-enter the states with say, 20 days left on my extension letter that will cause issues?
I would LOVE to go the route of getting a stamp in my passport, but I read that the NYC office will only let you schedule an appointment within 30 days of your letter expiring.

so long story short, here are my two options and I’d like to get a consensus as to what would be better.

1). Travel from say, mid June to the end of July, knowing that there will be less than a month less on my extension letter when I enter and hope that that doesn’t cause me issues

    2) break up my travel, travel from end of may to mid June, come home with in 30 days of the expiry so that I can make a field office appointment, then make a second research trip after I have the stamp in my passport.

plan 2 sounds convoluted, I know, but I’ll do it if need be.
I would really like to hear opinions, or hear what other people have done as they are/have approached the expiry of their extension letters!

Of course, this is all assuming that I will not hear anything about my case before then, haha.

To comfort you, I’ve been observing some cases close to my case number, they filed in June 2019, few days ago one status changed to New card being produced from ‘ RFE responses received’ another one ‘ approved’ from case ‘ready to be scheduled for an interview’. I guess nowadays they are approving MSC application without an interview. I hope you will hear something real soon, are you in Manhattan office or in Brooklyn?

Hmm interesting.. So it's possible that it could go from "ready to be scheduled" to being approved? Manhattan Office.

  11. My case has been "ready to schedule" since April 2019, filed November 2018. My extension letter will 'expire' in a few months, and I'm getting anxious about that since I have a lot of travel planned for the summer. Has anyone had their letter expire and get a new one? or do I try to get a stamp when the time comes? I'm confused about how to go about getting a stamp in your passport, since it seems like it's impossible to get an interview at my local (NYC office)?

  12. Hi all. So I've finally entered the US as a conditional resident!! Yay!!  It all went fine and the US immigration officer was very nice, but since I did my POE in Toronto she wasn't extremely experienced and got confused when it came to explaining removing conditions.

She gave me this slip of paper that says Point of Entry date as today, February 25 2017, and then says removal of conditions to be started between November 1 2017 and January 5 2018. Now, these dates don't make any sense and I think she got confused thinking that the removal of conditions is on your two year wedding anniversary, not your two year POE anniversary.

Because, as I understand it, since I've entered the US on February 25, 2017, then I would need to apply for removal of conditions 90 days before February 26 2019.  And, as I understand it, that should also be reflected on my greencard's expiry date.

I guess my question is: does this piece of paper matter? Like does it matter that she has the dates wrong? The slip of paper is literally just her writing and it's not signed or anything and she didn't input anything into a computer system so I'm inclined to think that she did that just for my benefit but that it doesn't really matter that she herself is wrong?

  13. I had my interview on Jan 4, and just got my passport and the huge white envelope yesterday!! We're leaving here in just under 3 weeks, visiting my parents in Canada, and then going to the US for the first of March! Everything went so smoothly and I'm so glad the interview process was as easy as it was! Ahh now to pack and figure out how to not mess up the giant envelope - I'm pretty sure it won't fit in the backpack I normally use as a carry on...
