  1. We are having an kind of a stressful issue. Our interview is in only a few weeks, on the 1st of march, and my fiancé sent me her documents along with the I-134f affidavit of support from her and our co sponsor. She used taxes from 2014, because when we made it, that's what was available.

Our case had been lost and basically got delayed so long, and got recovered in January. For all intent and purpose, we were ready, but I just now got an email from the consulate in Montreal with list of documents saying:

Original I-134 Form along with 2015 1040 Form from your Sponsor (please make sure that you bring the original signed form, neither copies nor scanned copies will be accepted).

We've done those with the 2014 taxes. The taxes from 2015 aren't done yet, and we're kind of low on time to rush it and get it done. Would the 2014 taxes be okay? Should we panic and get it done?

Is it viable to have the interview delayed if we can't have them finished and prepared before the date? Is that a thing they allow?

  2. Hi, I have a question pertaining to the affidavit of support documents.

I have my interview for the K1 Visa at the beginning of the next month, and in the checklist they had me fill out first before they gave me my appointment, the one with packet 3, they asked for me to gather an affidavit of support (i-134). We of course got that filled out for my fiancé and her parents, who will be co-sponsoring me.

Now, after getting what I assume is packet 4 (an email) stating that I needed to get my appointment, which I did, we were given another list of documents. Suddenly, it also asks for the I-864!

    ·         Affidavit of support (I-134) (for fiancé, employment and DV visas)

    ·         Evidence of support (I-864, Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year)

Do we need to bring both affidavits? I thought they were different, do both my fiancé and her parents need to fill out each an I-134 And an I-864? This is somewhat confusing, because looking online before those steps we kept seeing people having to bring one, or the other, but never both!

  3. Well to give an update to other people who might end up on this thread through searches:

Our congressman is still trying to get a hold of our file, but apparently, it was sent to the National Record Center.. most likely by mistake. As I understood it, this is the place cases go when they are inactive. It shouldn't have been sent there.

As I've seen someone else before say on another thread, if your case doesn't reach the NVC by 4-6 weeks, act. Contact them daily, contact your congressman. Something wrong happened.

  4. Hello,

Our case is currently in limbo between the USCIS and the NVC. All we have is the NOA2, and are in the process of having people look into it (contacted congressman, USCIS and all the fun stuff).

We have one fear though, and it is the validity date. Ours expires on the 23th of December, which is dangerously close. I have heard that the consulate will extend the validity of it all if required, but what if it hasn't reached the consulate yet?

Should we write a notarized letter to the consulate as soon as possible?

  5. I'm actually the one going to her, but thank you for the kind words.

Sadly, she is very busy, and cannot clear her schedule especially during this retail hell season, as she will have to for the interview, so we cannot overdo it. Meanwhile, I cannot visit as the US border has been dubious of me for no good reason and refused me access once. We're afraid a second denial would incur a ban. I also need to be home here to proceed with the next steps should the NVC finally get our case.

All we can do is keep on pestering them I believe.

  6. HI everyone.

We started the K1 back in June. I'm Canadian and I'm trying to join her.

Our NOA2 arrived on August 24, and we're waiting on the NVC to have the case number, but they haven't received any information yet. We contacted a senator on October 19th but haven't received any answer yet, and the NVC is being pretty much useless.

My fiancé is starting to lose hope. She's going through a lot and I need to be there for her, but I can't. We're starting to lose hope. What can we do?
