I got married in early 2016. My spouse will come to USA in May 2017 (after 2016 filing tax deadline). Should I file tax extension with IRS now and file joint tax return once she gets her SSN in May 2017?

No, they will not ask for tax return until the tax filing deadline is over. I doubt they will ask for 2016 tax for any April interview. Even if they do, it will be reviewed by the embassy. 

I think your spouse should take your 2016 w2, just to be on the safe side.

I don't think supervisor can do anything. It's just that they don't have any appointment available 

I just called nvc. No interview date yet.

I am guessing your husband changed his tax withholding with his company as married. As a result, less tax was withheld.

 you must have SSN or ITIN for him to claim you.

i paid taxes as individual. I will get a bigger refund since I overpaid taxes.

It's complicated. The answer for most people is no. 

However, it's possible but your spouse must have social security number or ITIN.

I think your spouse is expected to come to USA in May or June.

I suggest that you file IRS Form 4868 asking IRS to extend your deadline to October 16, 2017. And when your spouse comes to USA and get SOcial security number, just file joint return. 

Thats what plan to do.

Yesterday you said that a girl who was cc on 1/4/17 got interview date for March 20. How did you find this out?

I called them today around 7pm NYC time. The representative was super nice and said they are scheduling interviews for March. But, I'm being realistic. I hope I am wrong. 

If it in April, then I will do Pohela Boishakh in BD.

So one person who was cc on 12/28/16 has interview on 3/20/17 and another person who was cc on 1/4/17 also has interview the same day.

It's very possible that you will get interview for March too.
