It is the totality of the evidence and not one single thing that counts. Just work on getting things together between now and when you file or go to interview.  You can put each other as beneficiaries on life insurance policies / 401K and/or retirement plans, dependents on health insurance,  add each other or get joint car insurance. Get on property deed or mortgage or lease. Do you get mail at same address? it shows you live together. I remember reading on here or another forum when a couple have joint pet papers. Put your each as emergency contacts at school or work. Get affidavits from friends/relatives/pastor/church members that have knowledge of your marriage. Get joint gym /club memberships. Costco/Sam's club membership, have you gone on vacation together? if you have and have travel itineraries / airline tickets add them.

Basically you have time to get it together - use it wisely.

    thank you.
yes we traveled a lot together and with his family but by car tho. and all my mail sent to the same address that we live. will try to get evidence as much as I can.

At the top of the page, list the date and your name, your alien # and that it's regarding the N400 application.

Underneath type out all of those questions exactly as written on the question sheet----then type in your answers next to them.

At the bottom of the page type your full name, leaving a space for your signature above.  DO NOT SIGN IT YET.

Take this paper, the notice you got from USCIS, your ID, and visit a Notary Public (you can look them up in the phone book for one near you).

When you get to the Notary Public they will tell you what to do from there (basically they have you sign it infront of them, show your ID, and they stamp and sign it themselves underneath your signature/name.)  Normal cost to get it done is about $2.00 or so per page in NY...I'm sure it's just as cheap in your area.

Thank you so much ! Have a great day :)

  3. Hello,

My boyfriend went to interview and be passed but back to 7years ago when he was in high school he was register to vote but did not vote.

So he have to remove his registration and the office also ask him to submit a sworn notarized affidavit that answer all the questions.

So we not sure how to do this paper or if there is any form that we can follow? Also where can he notary the paper?

    Thank you

You've already started the process for him to get the proper documentation, so that's a good thing and it will most likely get to you in time to respond to the RFE.  If you get a feeling it's not going to get to you in time, make sure you notify USCIS that you need more time to gather the evidence they are requesting...that way you will not have "abandoned" your application.

Because the incident happened just recently, they are going to be a bit more stringent in what they will accept as proof that the charges were taken care of, which is why they have asked for all of that.  The voting thing, I do know that USCIS will look at that as representing himself as a US citizen before becoming one...something they don't like, but he was in highschool and young and may not have understood what was being asked of him when registering, and they might take that into consideration as well.  The letter, hopefully, will help him out greatly with that.

Thank you. Hopefully he will get approved.

He needs to get a copy of the arrest record from the police station if official charges were filed...the court disposition would come from whatever court house he had to report to.  He can apply for a police clearance letter at the police station headquarters building (not the local police station). There may be a bit of a turnaround time to getting these records so you will want to submit your requests as soon as possible, and in person if you can.

As far as the voting thing I'm not sure...can he contact the school he registered to vote in and see if they can provide him with a letter stating that he never actually appeared to vote?  Or a letter stating that they have removed him from their voter registry list?

    Thank for ur replies

When he applied he only sent criminal background check , didn't know that need to send police record as well. And he will submit in person for sure since the office just like 5mins from our house. Also for voting he did contact the voting office to send him a proof that he got removed.

Just very worry that even tho he submit all the documents but he still might not get approve.

  6. Hi,

My bf went to interview and he passed the history test but the officer can't approve it yet and ask more documents which are court final disposition, police arrest record, police clearance record and the prove that he cancel his voting registration.

He got arrested about 2years ago for driving wothout license then case was drop and for voting he was in High school (6years ago) and he didn't know back then so he was registered for voting but he didn't vote.

Just wonder if anyone who has to submit any documents like these and how was the result ? Is there any chance he will get approve ? And If he not what is he suppose to do next ?

    Thank you.

  7. Hello,

I have some question for my friend.

He used to apply for citizenship 2years ago but didn't pass. So he just applied again this year and just got I-797C reciept. Said "Upon reciept of all required Record Checks, you will be scheduled to appear for an interview at your local USCIS field office" (attached photo)

so we wonder if doesn't he has to do fingerprint ? And just wait for interview appt. ? Or the fingerprint letter will be deliver later?

    Thank you.

  8. No problem kwanggrawl, happy to share.

I would definitely recommend waiting. The agent I last spoke to said I should wait 30-45 days. If the first couple of agents had said that, I would not have worried about the first application getting lost or otherwise.

Although most people on the forums, through my review of previous months of applicants, appear to show a quick turn between receipt of application and check cashing/credit card/charge and NOA, I expect there will always be some outliers like us. The lesson here is that we should not worry too much and be patient.

Not also that with respect to my second application, they said there was no guarantee I would not be charged. I asked if I should just cancel the credit card or block the charge and they said there was a possibility that if I did that, they would send me an invoice for the application fee and additional processing charges. ?!?!

Apparently, each application is processed post receipt in the lockbox and the chances of them checking if a particular A# is already in process seems low.

Will wait to see what happens and keep you all updated.

    Thank you.

By the way the USPS called me the other day and left voicemail that my package already been sent to USCIS P.O.box 660064 but its supposed to be 660060 and I tried to contact them back but still can't find out. I think i put the right number but still I'm not sure if I'm wrong or they sent to the wrong P.O.box.

Might have to send the new if not hear anything from USCIS for 30days ???

  9. Hello everyone! A new member joining the October 2016 N-400 filers community. I long time watcher of the forums and now ready to join and share my experience.

Can someone kindly add me to the tracking list?

Here is the status of my application

    GOC date = 7/24/2010

    date N-400 sent = 9/27/2016

    date received = 10/3/2016

    credit card charged = 10/24/2016

    NOA e-mail and text notification = 10/26/2016

    submitted to: Texas lockbox

local office: expected to be Hartford, CT

Not sure if anyone else in the community had a similar experience, but I started getting worried after not hearing anything for 3 weeks after N-400 delivery (USPS tracking confirmed delivery occurred on 3 Oct 2016).

I thought I had not submitted the forms correctly as I received no text/e-mail notification and saw others had historically received notification within a few days of receipt at the application.

After becoming frustrated, I send a new package this week where I made sure that I did not make any mistakes as I suspected I did not sign something correctly on first application.

Low and behold, the same day I sent my second application, I received the text and e-mail and NBC* tracking number.

The second application will be received today and hopefully they will see the application for my A number is already in works and not charge me twice.

For reference, permanent residency was gained through marriage. My wife was naturalized over 10 years ago herself. Although I obtained through marriage, since it is more than 5years since I obtained permanent residence, I applied under the 'over 5 years' category and not the '3 years and marriage to US citizen category'.

    Good luck to everyone!

    Thanks for sharing !

Mine was received on 10/17 , its been almost 2weeks.

I'm getting so worried. Since you had this experience , i think I should be patient and wait.
