I think you are all good. Case tracker only shows the latest update.
How long did it take from the interview day to the day you received the notifications?
It took 6 days to get case approval update on online status and got case approval notification paper in mailbox 10 days after interview.
Now waiting for Card. But I don't know how long it takes to receive the card. Anybody knows?
-
hey friends
yesterday I got two updates:
the first one : " new card is being produce"
couple of hours later:
second update " Case was approved. we approved your form i-485 application for for permanent residence and will send you the notification.
Now, my online status just shows the second update.
anybody knows why they changed it?

Hi
I have a question and I hope there are some people here to help or give me some information.
We did our interview, questions were very straight forward. officer finally said " I approve you and everything is good, but your background check is still incomplete. you don't need to come for second interview and I will issue your green card as soon as I receive your background check. ".
He did not stamp my passport.
Any body had experience like this? or have you guys heard about this situation? how my background check is still incomplete and I did my interview?
Please share with me if you guys know anything about this condition.

It happens at times, I've seen other VJ members wait for the same thing. Now you should renew your EAD to work and check on the GC every 30 days with a service request til it shows up
I just realized I did not get any stamp in my passport after interview, in what circumstances it happens? is it because of my incomplete background check?

you mean it may take couple of months to get my GC? usually people receive an email from USCIS the same day after interview, but it did not happen for us. is it because of new executive order?
my EAD card will be expired in the first week of Jun 2017, when is the best time to apply to renew it?

friends,
We did our interview. the process was the same as all others.
Officer was very nice and asked some straight forward question:
to my wife(citizen): tell me how two you met?
to me: the same question.
to my wife: have you learned naything from his language?
to me: based on paper you are student in University of .... ? yes
to me: are you still student? yes
asked me for picture album, officer skimmed pictures and was turning album pages very fast.
when finished, I asked do you want to look at my documents? No, pictures are enough, there is no need to look at the documents.
.
.
at the end....
officer: we done
me: !!
officer: I am convinced, and want to issue your card.... but your background check is still incomplete. i am gonna send the card to your address as soon as i receive your background check.
I am shocked how my background check is still incomplete!! cause i thought people who go to interview their background check is already done.
If anybody had experience about this or heard about this please let me know.

Friends,
Our interview is on January 31, we are nervous of being asked some unexpected questions. Anyhow, we are going there to stay at the hotel a night before, to get rid of stress and and learn how to get there in advance.
Our folder ( interview Letter, lease, bank statements, receipt of rent payments, utilities, car insurance, life insurance, all receipts we got from USCIS, Sam's club membership, my i94 form, my wife's birth certificate, my passport, my birth certificate, her tax form of 2015, my 120 form which shows i am student in here, 160 pictures in a separate album). the only thing is that we are in a hurry to file our tax together, i got my W2 form from my school (im on F1 Visa), but my wife has not received hers yet. what is you guys opinion? Is it a big deal if we have not done our taxes yet?
Any last minute advice? anything else we need to have in our folder?
Thank you,

You should ideally get a tax transcript from the IRS showing joint filing, not just the tax filing forms. I always hear those hold more weight since they are official documents. You can order them online for free and they arrive in about 7-10 days.
I agree. Bring it all. I would bring an extra copy of whatever you're bringing as well. In a perfect world, you should be having a 'personal' file going on in your home of all you have sent them including evidence and building additional evidences as well.
Will your lawyer be attending the interview with you guys? If so, the reason she/he said you wont need them is because the lawyer will bring your NOAs and USCIS paperwork with them.....they don't go in unprepared. If your lawyer says no photo album, I would group photos into a ziplock bagsand write on the back of them the date/place. For example, anniversary pics 2016/New York. And get them in chronological order going oldest to newest.
we want to do our taxes together, but people say we should wait until we get form W2 in our mailbox.
How can we get tax transcripts from IRS? what those transcripts show since we have not done our taxes yet? cause we got married in 2016 and we are supposed to do our taxes in 2017.
No I don't have a lawyer in our interview. I bought an album which there is some spaces beside each picture and you can add some notes for each picture. you suggest me to do that?
-
Hey Guys,
some people here in this forum mentioned that we need to have our EAD card, Travel document (based on form i-131), receipt of all forms from USCIS, birth certificate etc.
but a lawyer told me you don't need to have those stuff in you interview. he said just have pictures, insurance, lease, utilities and bank statement and an ID. he said also having joint Tax paper is not necessary. when i said i am going to organize all the pictures in a n album he said do not put pictures in the album, just have them in a packet.
what is your opinion. any suggestion?
what my wife as a US citizen needs to have in interview? just a birth certificate and ID is enough for her?

She asked very few questions. We were never separated. She asked for updated copies of original proof of relationship we submitted. I gave current utilities, health insurance, car insurance, letters from both our kids school with both of us listed as the contacts. She asked for a current lease because ours expired in September. We didn't have one and I explained that we were trying not to renew the lease because we plan to buy a house once his credit is more established. She asked for proof that he is employed since receiving his ead. We showed his business certificate for Autobody company he has started. She looked through a scrapbook I had brought with us and asked about a few of the pics. Then read the questions word for word from the application for him to answer( the ones about arrests, affiliations, and such.). It was a lot less than I expected. I was quizzing him for months on family maiden names, favorite foods etc and none of that came up at all.
Awesome,
It was great. How many pictures you suggest us to print for interview?
Did they ask any question to your spouse?

We got the card in the mail yesterday!! Nothing ever updated after case was approved. I have thanked god 9998,776558 times today!! And and sending prayers out for all my fellow vj's waiting for an answer.
Congrats
can you please share your experience of interview? what kind of questions they asked you?

Nope, it is not. All of the info on there should be in your memory such as spouse's birthdate and what type of visa you came on and old addresses. You would look really weird if you showed up with a copy of the forms to look at and answer from at the interview.....don't recommend this at all.
If you accidentally sent original copies of things like birth certificates there is a way you can get them back after the interview somehow if needed.
Okay, I know all of information we put in the forms either mine or my wife's. because they are our own personal information.
No, I did not send my original birth certificate, I just sent the copy one.
I am wondering how people carry all the evidences and documents to the interview place. for example we have more than 200 selected pictures plus other documents such as, lease, utilities, car insurance, medical insurance, Joint Sam's Club card etc. Shall we put them in a bag or a folder?
is the officer ask us for more evidences or we should suggest her/him to add more stuff in our forms. because the day we sent the forms to USCIS, we sent no pictures or documents like lease or insurance. we just sent forms and personal IDs like passport and DOB.

I'm also preparing my binder with documents to take to the interview and in addition to your list I have :
- All forms that were sent and all letters that I received from Uscis.
- Travel itinerary together with reservations, flight tickets and photo.
- Letters, cards or emails between us, and mail addressed to both.
- Filed taxes for the last couple years that were sent with my I-864 and I'll include the latest documents for this year for both of us, either the last pay stub of the year with year to date pay, or the W-4 if it is available before my interview date.
- photos including family and friends.
what if we have copy of none of those forms that we sent to USCIS? IS it mandatory to have copy of those forms?

Today I got the update in my online status.

Flash News!!
Today I got a mail in my mailbox from Department of Homeland Security. It indicated my interview date which is in late January. I am happy that after about 10 months I got my interview scheduled.
the question is why my online status is still the same; " case is ready to be scheduled to an interview" ?
-
Green Card arrived, 10 days after interview.
Am very pleased to see that it is quite green. The interviewer said it wasn't.
See you all in 2018.
BEST OF LUCK and HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
congrats
merry Christmas

when they say "your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" does it mean the papers are already in our local office?
Today I was talking with a USCIS representative on the phone, he said in Atlanta currently they are considering cases of April. I said I filed in March what about me?. he said I dont know, maybe your background check takes longer than others.
basically nobody knows what is happening in USCIS.
-
I don't think that you can get a copy from them. You will have to remember what you put in there and since you probably filled it out yourself and those questions refer to you and your spouse, you should be able to recall them easily.
Today I called USCIS, he said you can fill out a form( i forgot the form number) and USCIS send you a copy back but he said we cannot guarantee if your request to getting copy of your papers back decrease your case progress or not. but you can make an appointment to your local office online and ask them, however there is not also guarantee if they give you a copy.

Hi friends,
I have a question regarding my original documents:
when we filed our case in March 2016, I sent all the original forms to USCIS and did not make a copy of them. whereas, a lot of people say the interview is based on the forms we filled out before, and it is necessary to remember everything from those forms.
what should I do to get the copy of those forms?
If i ask USCIS to send a copy of them, is it negative point? or doers it take a lot of time to get a copy back?
anybody had experience like this before?
-
We are in NC, and our local field office is Charlotte (April 2016 AOS from K1) we got lucky and our file was sent to Texas for processing and approved without interview
I hope you get good news soon
I think one key factor to be judged by USCIS is that which country you are coming from.
-
I just got call from USCIS tier 2, I asked him how long after " case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" should I wait?
he said nobody knows
and it is based on availability.
I asked why people filed after me they got their green card and it is almost 9 months I am waiting , he said it is based on circumstances.
