I'm just curious - what kind of visa are you adjusting from?

Why do you think they separated you?

I'm really worried that they are gonna separate us too in the future as I'm adjusting from a J1.

Not that I mind being questioned individually but it's gonna make it much more stressful.

As sweetadams explained, there is many factors that depends.

I did AOS from a tourist visa and this type of interview was expected to happen.

But we were not afraid of anything because we were truthful and had nothing to hide.

So no need to stress about it if you are being questioned separately, as long as you have a true marriage!

  2. Yes, the strange part is that on my I-485 online number it says that my card is being produced and on I-130 that it must be reviewed .

I googled this "case must be reviewed", and it is most likely that the officer who interviewed us gave the case to a supervisor who will give the final green light. -But it can be painful to wait...

How long have you been waiting already?

  3. Hello!

I had my interview today, it went surprisingly well!

The officer separately questioned me and my husband with our lawyer sitting with us together.

At the end of the interview she said that she is satisfied with our story and will do a final background check if we have all necessary documents and check my I-94 travel history,

and said that we should be receiving our approval within 2 weeks if they are satisfied with all the submitted documents.

She handed me a sheet of paper stating that "A decision cannot yet be made about your application/petition."

Now, my lawyer said that I should be approved 99% and we are already certain of the approval.

But I was wondering if this happened to anyone too, and why does this does happen?

  4. Hello,

I have my marriage based green card interview next month, and have my EAD but have not worked during that time.

I was pretty much a house wife and have been taking care of my husband who was suffering from a autoimmune disease and a mother-in-law who suffered from stage 4 breast cancer during my immigration.

I am well aware that immigrants are supposed to be productive citizens like any others. But I think I have contributed to the US society in many ways such as investments, fundraisers, volunteering, hosting family events etc.

-But hoping to work on my career path once this immigration process is over.

But I'm wondering if that is going to cause a Red Flag because I haven't had a job for 1 year now?

  5. I was wondering if I could renew my passport before the Greencard interview? (I have the combo EAD card)

Since I'd like to have my married name on my home country as well before traveling.

Because once I get a new one, I will also receive a new passport number which will differentiate from the old one I applied with.

Could it cause problems or affect my immigration status from the renewal of my passport?

  6. I would recommend to change your last name once you are requesting a new passport when it is about to expire.

It costs you less stress and less hectic.

But I am not sure how the Canadian law works, would recommend you to call your embassy first and ask for advice.

  7. OP simply wanted to know what could be the reason and why she got a stokes interview.

There is no need to blame her for her mistakes!!!

But Banana_Princess, keep in mind that officers are trained to look at your case in a curious way at all times.

You need to be proofing and convincing them that your marriage is real. I however have to admit that there was confusion and mistakes that gave them a red flag (for me it looks like that you got the wrong officer).

All you need to do now is to wait for the letter and fight back with your lawyer, they can't completely deny or deport you that easily.

I am personally horrified by hearing this story, and I wish it would never happen to anyone who leads a true marriage.

Keep collecting evidence of your martial life and stay in a positive attitude and don't get upset over the officers (learn to overcome anger with happiness). -Because its them who decide about your future.

  8. I could immediately open a joint bank account when I was physically present at my bank without a SSN.

You should make your husband call the bank is at and see what the options are for a foreign.
Because opening a personal account, without a SSN, and not being present at the bank seems impossible.

I would recommend you to keep the money until your visa has been granted, there is no guarantee that it will be approved.

And hopefully you have a place to stay while your K-1 is being processed?

  9. I got my entire desktop shipped from Germany to USA with DHL, I had several dents on my computer case and my motherboard stopped working (probably because of the constant movements), monitor however was fine (used the original box).

After personally experiencing this, I recommend to take apart all the important things inside the case and put them in a safe box and it should be fine. But be prepared to have dents on the case if its not in the original box.

  10. I didn't went through the same process as you, but I will try and answer some questions.

    1. Medical examinations vary, could start from 200 and end in 400$. I paid almost 400$ for mine. You can also get your own passport picture taken with your phone and get it printed out, or go to a local store (Walgreens, CVS, Fedex etc.)

    3. For the G-1145, you can fill them separately. But it actually doesn't matters as long as one of you has this sort of notification.

    4. This part is very important, you should sit down and work it out with your fiance. Look up for minimum yearly income requirements for Affidavit of Support.

    9. Best thing is to keep everything organized and simple, because that affects processing time.

    10. It always varies, no matter where you file.

    On 6. 7. 9.

I see some red flags here. And that will likely to be questioned at the interview.

I would consider gathering more evidence and proof till the interview.

    Good luck!

  11. Legally entered Visitors especially VWP get a stamp in the passport, and ofc fingerprints and pictures taken (and that creates your I-94 profile).

1 copy of each certificates should be enough, always keep it simple and organized. Because that affects the processing time of your documents, officers are also humans!

And its fine if you didn't explained them your whole story, they will obviously know because the way you filed.

However get the error corrected once you receive 1 NOA (either call USCIS or send letter).

As my lawyer told me, people who got married spontaneously on a VWP always get an interview (so you can explain the details there).

Keep calm, and don't exaggerate everything, That will relief lots of stress. :)

Should you have more issues in the future, I would recommend you getting consultation by a immigration lawyer.

Tip: Always stay truthful to authorities

  12. I really don't want to make an issue out of it with him , he's been working hard for our visa and regardless all the obstacles that drew us back for 2 years it finally comes to an end , he needs me there badly as he is sick and should be hospitalized soon.

Sorry Karleelina, no one in this forum can help you with your issues about your husband other than suggesting..

You need to sit down and seriously talk with your husband and set your priorities.

In a relationship with true love, there should be always a way to work things out!
