You're I-94 (if still current) or NOA should be enough to proof that to them.

I-94 date expires early July, so no good. Do you mean the NOA for the K1 or the AOS? I think the NOA for AOS will be enough but they don't seem to be using the correct terms. I've spoken to them on the phone and they use such vague terms as "when you get the letter about the green card you can show it to us".

I'll wait until they respond to my latest email and see if I can narrow it down. Thanks.

  2. I am having an issue with the logistics company working on my behalf to bring some personal belongings through customs for me. I shipped these items before I left my home country and due to a number of delays, they are only due to arrive in the USA port some time in mid-July. This date falls after the 90 day time limit from POE for marrying my fiancee. There were no issues with visas at the other end end - that part of it was carried out by another company and my visa was "valid" at that point. We have already got married so we're fine there, but according to this logistics company I have no valid "visa" on the date the boat is arriving in port so my shipment will be held until I can provide either:

    1. A visa in my passport with an expiry date some time after the shipment is due to arrive - obviously I can't provide this
    2. A green card - as we are newly married and AOS papers will be sent early next week, I have no chance of providing them a green card by mid-July (maybe not even by mid-July 2018!)
    3. A current visa waiver - as I did not enter the USA under the VWP I obviously can't provide this either

Does anyone have experience with importing belongings while going through AOS from a K1? All I can really offer the logistics company at this point is my marriage license showing I did indeed marry my petitioner fiancee within the allowed time, and my NOA for the I-485 once that is submitted.

I've also just looked them up on Google, Yelp etc. and their reviews are very bad. Now I'm feeling pretty stressed about all this.

  3. Had my interview yesterday. Was only talking to the interviewer for about five minutes before he said the magical words "you have been approved"! I prepared a decent amount of evidence of ongoing relationship but they didn't ask to see any of it. Still worth doing, if nothing else but to show to immigration at my POE if they ask any questions.

I have a question which I forgot to ask yesterday, hoping someone might be able to help. When I get my passport back with the entry visa in it, will it be ok to travel to other countries before I go to the USA? In my case I have at least one trip to Australia planned before I go, and one of these trips may be work travel.

  4. Is this embassy specific? I've looked on the Nairobi Embassy site and I can't find a place where I'd be able to pay it. Anyone else going through Nairobi with thoughts on this?

It is embassy specific. For example, my embassy in New Zealand requires me to pay the visa fee in person. The packet 3 instructions should guide you on how to do each thing you need to do, including scheduling the medical, paying the visa fee, etc.

  5. It will probably be fine, but if you can change it you should. That's what I think.

I think it means you have to book an interview date before 4 months, but I'm not sure! Maybe someone else in this thread knows the answer?

I think it means this too. Your K1 is valid for 6 months once issued, so that will trump the NOA2 expiration date. Pretty sure the interview just needs to be booked before the NOA2 expiry date.

  6. i wanted to ask tax return wise , tax return 2016 will not be required till april correct , so any person having a interview before April should be sufficient with a 2015 tax return , am i right about this? so then ppl interviewing in april and after will haveto obtain the 2016 tax return

Striker, as per the I-134 instructions, you only need to provide the previous years tax return if you are self employed. Are you self-employed?

  7. no luck on nvc yet but i did ask a few questions and got some answers

apparently they get cases in the mail only once a day and throughout the day 7am- 12am midnite they scan the cases , now that doesnt mean they completely finish scanning the cases they got that day , i think this is what makes them get behind. Also cases that got approved one most likely arent sent out that exact day it was approved , example cases that got approved oct 11, some may not get sent out till oct 16th. Also from a old thread apparently wednesdays and fridays are the best days to call , not sure why

im going to go up a level and call 4 times a day in 5 hour intervals , that way i have at least 4 chances a day of getting case received

whats also puzzling is even today i didnt see anyone from aug or sept filers update about getting a case number or case received

Sounds stressful! We haven't bothered to call yet. We are about a week behind you in terms of NOA2, so I'll probably just get my fiancee to call them up a week or so after you get your case number

  8. The "cover letter" and the "I-129F Supplement: Part 2, Question 34.a" are usually two different things.

The cover letter only needs to be a list of what's in the package, ie:

    -Check of 340USD

    -i-129f form

-Letters of intent from petitioner and beneficiary

    and so on.

Thanks. We have included the I-129F Supplement: Part 2, Question 34.a in the submission, but this just explains how we met. Should we use this page to expand on our relationship, living situation, when we were engaged, etc.? Or do they not care to know all this information?

  9. It can be as detailed you want ! :)

The coverletter is usually just to provide them with a list over what you are submitting in your I-129F package.

I need a tie-breaker! If it's just a list, where do you best explain the circumstances of your case? I feel like the "letter stating how you met" is not appropriate to explain this.

  10. Hi All,

My fiancee is just about to submit our K-1 petition and I think we're good to go. Just have one quick question about the I-129F cover letter.

How much detail about our situation should we give?

We don't have a complicated case to explain as we have been with each other in person for most of the relationship, and lived together for just over two years before she moved back to the USA for a job.

Do we just briefly explain the situation? I.e. met at this time, moved here at this time, lived together at this time, she relocated for this reason, etc.? Or does the cover letter merely need to state what we are applying for?

    Thanks in advance :)
