  1. Ok, I need to vent

I started calling the embassy at 1:30 today. I called every few seconds until 2:30pm. The like was either busy or you were disconnected when you chose the option to speak to a person and a few calls where there was nothing but static. I am soooooo furious!!! We can only call two days a week now and then you can't get through. I have emailed them everyday this week and no one has responded.

    ricardo,

i'm with you...i've been emailing for a couple weeks, tying to find out if an interview date has been scheduled (we turned the ds230 in on dec. 1 and haven't heard anything yet) and finally got a response today saying that nothing has been scheduled...i'll send good vibes for you to get through to them soon...it is totally maddening to have no control at all...but worth it :)

    Keishnino,

Thanks for the vibes. Im sending them right back to you too. They have been messing with a lot of us since December. Sometimes I wish that I could get 20/20 to do an undercover story on what really goes on in the embassy  I guess I have ALOT of time on my hands and too much imagination.

    Good Morning!!

    Good morning and good night!

  2. Darlene - I am SO happy for you! Best of luck with your journey!

This weekend I am going flower shopping with my sister for her wedding! YEA!

    Hello everyone!

Welcome Bert! Hey Darlene,,,enjoy being able to watch him watching TV!!!

I think that the embassy is closed for MLK day so now I have to wait another whole week to TRY to get someone who has SOME information. This is OUR embassy right? Who are they accountable to? I think they treat us terribly. UUUUGGGGHH I am trying not to let this ruin my three day weekend. Ok thanks for letting me share. I hope everyone else has a great weekend. :crying:

hi belvinmills i contacted the embassy today via email and told me i am likely to get an interview in February or March. I am so relieved. Wish me luck :D

Lucky you. They dont write back to me.

  3. Good morning!

Only 3 more sleeps and he will be here. I feel like I am counting down for a trip to Jamaica.:dance:

Then we can argue (or should I say) disagree face to face. I don't know if it is because he is getting nervous but he has be short with me. Oh well, it is the beginning.

He will be coming in either at 9:30 pm if all goes well with immigration at JFK or he can catch the 10:00 pm flight and get into Boston at 11:30. I am taking Friday off so we can go out and about and Monday is MLK holiday and I have that off too.

I guess I am getting nervous too!! :)

    Darlene,

I am soooooo excited for you. I hope the days till he gets here fly by and when he gets here they sloooooow down! Enjoy.

  4. Happy friday everyone!!

Hey Sonshyne, I just got through to the Embassy in Kingston. Man I called a few times then no answer. But the 3rd time I called & just waited. I let the phone ring & ring. I got through in 4 minutes. They did confirm receipt of the DS230. They would not let me schedule an appt. to pick up the next Packet (4). She did say that they were done scheduling for January & were scheduling for Feb-Apr. She kept saying that she didnt know when they would mail the next packet out. So all in all I guess I got one question answered. She was cordial & patient with my questions even though there were not many answers.

This is what he needs to take: a passport, two passport-sized photographs, fee receipt,. Fiance did not take anything from the Embassy with him & they didnt ask for anything. He should just tell them what it is for. He did pay $100 & also did the fingerprints @ the same time (required). Does this help?

I'm glad your got your receipt confrimation  I called today also and finally got receipt confirmation on my packet arriving there  I will get the DS230 in the mail to them by next week.

I called my fiancee today to tell him that the Embassy had mailed packet#3 to him. I also told him to Sav to get the No Impediment cert. and to Kingston to get the police report.... He told me that he could go to Montego Bay for the police report.

I tried to explain to him that he needed to go to Kingston but he is not listening to me  Does anyone know if this is true??

I decided not to try to convince him any more. So I guess he'll beleive me once he goes and finds out for himself and finds out that I was right ;)

Thanks again for the info

Why dont they listen to us or believe what we tell them? It seems that they only trust the word of another Jamaican.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I talked to him and he says that he will be able to "clean up" and take another medical before the next interview. We'll see............  You guys are always a source of support and information. I am grateful. Only wish that I'd joined sooner!

Just a thought. I know that everyone going through this process is not on this site but does anyone else find it interesting that none of us who are waiting has gotten a January date?? I keep checking and I only see one interview date for January.

  6. TGIFriday everyone

Thanks for the birthday wishes! No plans but to move tomorrow :bonk: I guess once we're unpacked and settled maybe we can go to dinner Saturday or Sunday night.

Mindy - sorry about not replying to the previous move post. This is driving me insane and I can't wait to start everything once I leave work today!

Question: I just read some old pages and someone said that their fiance was denied because of past drug(weed) history. Im I stupid or do they really check for ganja? If so we aint getting our visa   If anyone is willing to share I would appreciate it. :help:

YES, YES, YES - they will DEFINATELY do a blood test to check for ganga  Many people have gotten denied for this already and others have gotten denied just for admitting to past drug use even if their test came back negative :o Tell him to stop smoking NOW and don't even hang around people who are smoking and risk getting it second-hand. It will take 1-3 months to clear out of his system depending on how heavy a smoker he is /was.

Oh SH***T thanks for the info. But is too late. He already had the medical and our next appointment is supposed to be next month. I feel so stupid. I had no idea. I will keep you posted. Thanks for he help. :(:o

If I'm not mistaken you can cancel your medical and interview and ask for a reschedule for a later date. If you're not sure about his ganga status then I'd look into doing that then to risk testing positive and being banned for 3 years because of it.

Thanks Jonesie and happy Birthday. The medical was done in October so the embassy already has it. So isnt it on record somewhere? I dont think we can take it back out of the system. This interview will already be a reschedule and I dont think I can go through the waiting period again. Maybe it wasnt meant to be?????? :( :( :(:hehe:

  8. Anyone here signed prenups? If so, why?

    How about considered a prenup?

We have already discussed this topic early on in this thread. B) :P

Im definately doing a pre-nup. But I decided a long time ago that I would do it with ANYONE when and if I ever got married it has nothing to do with Jamaica. What's mine is mine. I worked hard for it. And I would have no problem signing one if someone asked me to. I guess Im just a realist.

  9. Another question!!

As you can tell I am having THOUGHTS running through my head

Is there anyone on this board who is American and moved to Jamaica to be with there SO? I'm contemplating it - I thought about filing bankruptcy and running away from this place I call MY COUNTRY - Why are they so strict? Some people can walk across the boarder but the man I love can't get here before jumping over hurdles.

Sorry, not trying to offend anyone, just venting!

    Hey Girl,

I told you about the hotel I want to buy in Negril ( our favorite place). Just let me know when you want to "jump ship" and I'll join you!!!!I have thought about it sooooo many times. Did you get my pic? Talk to you later.

  10. I've been using MobileCaller.com for over a year, I am pretty satisfied with them  But Spirint sounds like something I may have to check into

    Hello Support Group,

I use mobilcaller.com too. I hated being cut off in mid sentence. It is easy to top up on computer and if you choose "value" is about 19 cents a minute. Worth it for me to not have dial pins over and over again trying to get connected.

Had a talk with fiance today. He does want me to come down for the interveiw. Now Im torn. I want him to come home with me but he has a lot of business to take care of and people to say goodbye to. I dont want to rush him but I dont want to come home alone either. Be careful what you wish for. I'll keep you posted when we get our date.

  11. Yardies,

I just thought that Id let you know that the email I recieved from the embassy on 12/29/06 about our next interview date came from the old address "cousularking..." not the new one posted on this site....I dont know what this means or will help anyone???

    .

Question: A lot of you have advised me to go to the interview. Do we have any stats on anyone being denied a visa?? It appears that more than not get through as long as you have all your paperwork? I WOULD like to go but my fiance doesnt think its necessary. Will my presence really make a difference? :help:

Thanks again for all the love

  12. Welcome Ricardo :)

    Good morning Yardies,

I just wanted to say tanks to everyone who wrote and welcomed me to the site yesterday with kind words and support. You all helped me get through a really tuff day. Happy New year to you all, especially Darlene, Sonshyne, Nysness(?). Much love...Little more...

  14. My stress level is slowly getting higher! The fear of the unknown, not being able to communicate every minute of every day with him, chosing the right path to go down with this relationship! I just want him here to start our lives together!

Everyone says "TIME" but when you are as impatient as me TIME is null and void when it comes to getting what I want (i'm not spoiled just driven)

    jamaicalove,

Are we sisters? Im going through the same thing/feelings etc. Im used to sitting back and waiting.

    Greetings,

I am terrible with computers---how do I join this thread?

Glad you joined us welcome!! You have come to the right place, the people here are very supportive

Im already feeling the love!!! :star: :star: :star:

  15. Greetings,

I am terrible with computers---how do I join this thread?

    Ok, I guess Im on.

    Wagwan Yardies,

Several of you suggested that it is better that I go to the interview with him. I am worried since I am twice his age and that might make them suspicious. It makes everyone else suspicious. I welcome and help and/or kind words.

Don't worry.... Remember they already know how old you are, things will be fine.

    Sonshyne,

Thanks! I didnt think of that too obvious I guess. Good luck getting your date!

  16. Greetings,

I am terrible with computers---how do I join this thread?

    Ok, I guess Im on.

    Wagwan Yardies,

I just spent an hour discovering and reading this thread. I dont feel so alone anymore. Tanks. I need to share, if its ok. I began the process in April 2006. After several delays we finally got our interview date, November 9th. Unfortunately my fiance messed up and wasnt ready with his police report in time so he didnt do the interview. I have talked to people at the embassy twice and they keep saying another month, another month. Yesterday I got an email that said they wouldn't be able to schedule him for an interview until February. I am about ready to explode. I dont know where I am going to find more patience. Several of you suggested that it is better that I go to the interview with him. I am worried since I am twice his age and that might make them suspicious. It makes everyone else suspicious. I welcome and help and/or kind words.

  17. My finace finally got his interview appointment for 11/9/06 after waiting four months (we were approved by NICS in early June). His was unable to attend his interview because of a one day delay with his police report. I spoke to someone in November that said that we would have a new date in a month, well we know that the embassy moved and pretty much closed for December then I was told we would have a date in January. Now I get an email saying we will have to wait until February!!! Who can give us a correct, definitive answer?? I compare our timelines to others on this site and I cant help but wonder how/why some people seem to speed through this beauracracy and others linger for months. Is there something that I dont know???

    Tired of waiting.
