I just came here on K1, nothing special about my case. My receipt number hasn't been entered in the system so I don't know what's going on! Pretty frustrating, because when I check the AOS timelines for Charlotte it looks like some who filed months later than me have already got their greencard! Anyway, as soon as I see the Charlotte processing times change to mid July, I will be chasing them up too!!!

Hello everyone! Congratulations for all those who got approved.

My INFOPASS last Feb 15 was just fine. The lady said to wait, everything looks fine and it will take 6 more months to process since they are only processing Dec. of 2006 applicants. :

She said, if I didnt get my GC on June renew my EAD!!!! Wait! Wait! Wait!

I am glad to see that our name is still on your list since I dont visit here regularly. Update: Have gotten email from our congresswoman saying that name check and security check are done and clear. Case was sent back to CSC and we are supposed to hear something again by the first week in April. Fingers crossed. Congrats to all that have received greencards and strength to us that are still waiting 7 months and counting.

Please update our timeline. We received an email from USCIS on December 18th informing us that they had transferred our case to the California Service Center. Lets hope that is good news!

Our card arrived today !!!

Congrats to everyone who have heard news and/or received green cards. We were finally touched on 12/18 saying that our case was sent to the California Service Center. Not really sure if this is good news or bad news but at least it is some news after six months of no news.

Just wanted to let people know - Still no word on and interveiw for the greencard ,since September when we received our EAD. Someone as USCIS said that we had to wait until January to call them and get information. UGH.

Our AOS interview was quick and easy and was told that in 2 weeks we will get our GC in the mail!!

Pls. update us that we are approved and no more USCIS till 2009! Thank you very much!

CONGRATS to Sonshyne and LovinJA!!! I cant believe that you guys are here. I remember when we were all going through the embassy stuff together. I only wish that we were still on the same timeline but, we are STILL waiting for some kind of news about the AOS. We did get our EAD but no news for a month now.

Question: I called USCIS last Friday with my husband on a three way and the woman we got said that if I went on line (I did) and checked the processing times I would see that we have to wait six months for our greencard and seven months before we could call again. It has been 90 days since we received our NOA's. Should I schedule and Infopass appointment or just hang in there and wait?? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Since your marriage occurred before the child's 18th birthday then she is considered your (step)daughter. You can, as the USC, submit an I-130 petition for her (you are the petitioner, she is the beneficiary). There is still probably a 6-10 month wait, from what I gather, for the I-130 to be processed. When this is completed then the visa would be granted (a medical, etc would need to be completed beforehand as well).

If his daughter is already in the US then the I-130 would be submitted concurrently with the I-485 and the adjudication of the I-130 would occur simultaneously with the I-485. You would just submit all the supporting documents, as well as a medical/vaccinations from a Civil Surgeon, along with the I-130/I-485.

This may be a stupid question, but what if you just want the child to visit? Do you still need a visa? I wish I had known that the 130 could've been filed with the 485. We got in just before the fee increase. Thanks for the help.

WE'RE DONE!!!!

Had interview today in Atlanta! It was scheduled for 1:30.... we got there at 12:50. They called us back at 1:10!!! Our Interviewer, Mrs. Blair, was soooooo nice! She said that her previous case was cut and dry and didn't take as long as she was given, so since we were there, she called us back. We were done by 1:20!!!

She asked very basic questions of my husband, his name, address, phone number, how we met, my birth date. It was just like a conversation.... no pressure. She asked to see any proof we had. I showed her bills and acct. statements, beneficiary info., and pictures. She asked him the basic questions as well: have you ever been convicted of a crime? have you ever been a member of the communist party? have you ever been a prostitute or a pimp? She was soooo laid back and friendly. She told us he would get a conditional 2 yr. greencard and blah...blah...blah. She said he would get the greencard in 4-6 weeks and he already cleared the name check!!!I was thrilled It is over for the next year and a half!!!

I am so greatful for this site. We were very prepared for the interview because of this site, and was even familiar with the interviewer based on another's review. When she told us her name, I was relieved because I read that she was very nice! Good luck to everyone!

We had our Biotmetrics appointment today too at 10:00am. We arrived late, but no one even looked at the time. We were also in and out within 20 minutes. I just tried to check our case status on line and I couldnt get in. Is that because we had to wait for the bio appointment? I was just wondering about our EAD. I hope you guys are good. Well I am not in a panic because there is nothing I can do if they ask for it except to provide the information. I just get irritated at stupid ####### like that.....something I did not include because it was allegedly optional. I suppose SirLance is correct in that each case is different, so we'll just have to see. It's just stupid that optional is not really optional and it created an unnecessary delay for at least one of us in a system that is already too lengthy and cumbersome.

Most sponsors use income alone and do not include assets if they don't have to. So it really is optional. There is no "buts" about this being optional. For whatever reason, USCIS wants more financial info from LovinJA, but this is not going to be a general requirement for the rest of us. All of us certainly will NOT be getting RFEs because we didn't include assets on our I-864. Good luck to LovinJA with resolving their RFE.

I overnighted the RFE letter back, along with the filled out Part 7 of the I-864. I also included a letter stating my confusion for the RFE, indicating my yearly salary,and enclosing an employment/salary verification from my employer. They should have it by noon 7/31. We called USCIS this morning to find out why we received the RFE, and the agent on the line couldn't tell us anything. He just said if we got the request, we had to fill it out..... so, they will have it tomorrow, along with a little extra. Hopefully we will have smooth sailing from here.

Glad to hear that you got through to them today and sent everything off. It almost sounds like we're dealing with the JA embassy again, yikes!!! Finally got the RFE for the vaccination supplement. It only took them 2 plus months to notice it. Sent if overnight yesterday so they will get it today. Now we will see how long it takes. Still no movement on the EAD.

good morning ladies....i haven't posted in a couple days dealing with some personal issues w/ mike...i feel i have been pretty honest about our issues...i am going to lay it all out there...

i recieved an online alert that our cell phone bill was ready...when i looked at how much more it was i decided i better look to make sure hey didn't charge us wrong again like they did a couple months ago....when i got to mike's number i came across 3 local wilmington numbers...that were called every day for the past month...i asked him about it and he said they were friends....when i said ok lets call...he admitted they were girls he met..after toying with the idea of calling them...mt friend said i'll calll and get the scoop....i knew what the girl was going to say but just needed to hear it i guess..

she said he approched her...w/out his ring...told her he was living her w/ his aunt...and he needed a "friend"...when she asked him if he was involved he said no....so he asked he for her number and called her the next day....then after that she never heard from him...she said she got the feeling he was trying to hook up....the other 2...one was at a JA resturant the other on the bus....he said they were just someone to talk to....but the other girl....he admitted could have been something more...

i am devistated....very confused....and feel very betryed...my worst fear....came to life....

i don't want you all to feel sorry for me....today is a new day....if anything...maybe this experince will open up some of your eyes...and let you know it can happen....just be prepared...

WOW 22 days! That is beyond crazy...nice ticker though Where did you find that? I need to come up with somthing to count so I can have a ticker.

I know everyone has their own frustrations....Bert's work permits expires today. The good thing is that he has been here for 3 months already. The bad thing is his job. Today is his last day. They have been touching the AOS like crazy but not touches in almost a month for his EAD. We just want one of them approved, don't care which one.

hello jomo's girl and furturemrs. since i've heard both of you (and jilly) refer to vj i thought i'd check it out. ohmygoodness this site was a confusing place when i first joined! there is soooo much information, and the terminology was strange. it is however a VERY helpful site and i'm so glad i'm here!

thanks for the tips jomo's girl. i won't worry too much about his diploma then. he doesn't seem too interested in going back to school. and i'll advise him to get 2 copies of his long form birth certificate. he sent me an original bc, but i hear that one is no longer valid.

now the thing that bothers me is his immunization record. we asked his mom if she knew where it was and she has no clue. boy i sure hope it turns up somewhere in the house!

a tip for anyone with an upcoming medical who will be "fasting from a certain kind of herb": i bought a home drug test kit from walmart and left it with him with instructions to use the kit prior to the medical exam to ensure that everyting will be criss. lol

He is going to visit with his family for a few days, a few birthdays, business to take care of so he will either be coming on the 20th or 27th. I have to have him come on a Friday because I CANT take anymore days off from work and I want to have at least Saturday and Sunday with him to show him around. He said he might not want to go either. He reminded me we have to go see this transformer movie on July 4th On the 3rd then I will take him downtown to the taste so we don't miss fire works.

Don't feel bad about it Jax. Once he arrives he will tell you what he likes. I went to Capleton a few years ago and paid $45...never again!!! It wasn't worth it at all. Actually (in my opinion) a lot of these stage shows in Chicago are awful. When they bring my baby Movado then I will go until then I'm continuing listening to my CD's.

I cannot change how some people feel. I just wish that the "newbies" knew ALL the women who used to frequent this forum -- who WE have not heard from in MONTHS -- SOME YEARS.....why? Their relationships don't exist anymore. Those are the "tales" you all really need to hear.

Every relationship is different and goes through different processes. And every MAN is different, Jamaican or not. I do agree with what someone said above, that sometimes it seems they tend to go through the exact same things. Maybe it is a cultural thing....I don't know. I don't think comparing what has happened to someone personally should be considered stereotyping.

What I do want to say is tha I don't think anyone should jump on anyone else when they make a statement you don't like. If someone is going through a particularly difficult situation, I try to listen to them and support them, even if I don't completely agree with how they are handling the situation. While my own marriage is wonderful and I can't complain, I have been through a few rough relationships to this point. I see similarities in what some others have said on here. Had I read their stories sooner, perhaps I could've saved myself some heartache. It would be far more beneficial to take from this site what you need, whether it be congratulations, support, advice, whatever and leave behind constructive comments. Tearing apart each other is not beneficial to anyone. I've been on one other web site, in particular, where you pertty much palpate the hate. What's the point?

That being said, I don't think you have to censor yourself. Like the one person said, we are not a cheering squad. We do not have to agree with everyone and everything. But, a little tact goes a long way. Say your comments in a less hateful manner and you will still get your points across.

Amen! Be truthful.. but Kindness, tact and understanding goes a long way and is heard with open ears. Whereas impatience and judgement only shows your ignorance and insecurities..
