However other people even at my field office have been waiting a lot longer. Also I don't know if the change of presidential administration slowed down the process at all. Yes, our status changed to "In line for oath ceremony" about a week after the interview. Later it changed to "Your oath ceremony is scheduled" and we got the letter a week after being "in line."

You will be just fine! My husband's interview lasted only 15 minutes, and they barely asked for anything. Basically just confirmed everything that was in the application. It'll be nice not to drive 70 miles right before. Good luck to you and let us know how it goes!

Back in May, it was still required to send photos. However, this recently changed and it is no longer a requirement. Here is one link that explains the change

My husband brought my US passport to his interview as proof of my citizenship (I went with him but waited in the waiting room). They never asked to see it but you should bring some original proof like a passport. Good luck on your interview!

This was a recent change that they made last December. There is no longer any need to send photos if you are in the US, but I'm sure it won't hurt your application if you send them.

Even though my husband had his green card for over five years, we checked the box for applying on the basis of marriage on the N-400, so they processed his application on the 3-year marriage basis. (We didn't know which box to check and hadn't discovered this website yet, so we just checked that one)

Yes, our status changed to "In line for oath ceremony" or something lack that, five days after the interview. We received the oath letter in the mail a week after the status change, and the oath ceremony was one month after the interview.

If you look at the August filers thread, it looks like a lot of people are still waiting, with a few who recently had interviews & oaths.

If your receipt number starts with IOE, those are tending to be more delayed compared to receipt numbers that start with NBC, because of an issue they had with the ELIS system a while back. This affected people who filed roughly around May-August of last year. You might post in the August filers thread for more feedback, and maybe look at threads from other months too. Good luck!

I just saw your post. I filled my husband's N-400 by hand, and our case was actually one of the fastest for September filers. He became a citizen last week, while many others are still waiting for interviews. So filling by hand certainly did not slow it down in our case. Good luck with your application!

Updated with sorchaine's oath ceremony (congrats!), my husband's green card date, & fixed formatting. Auburn2005 let us know if I got the dates right for your fingerprints & in line. It was hard to tell from the way they were typed in on the earlier post due to the formatting. I was surprised your fingerprints were done so early!

My husband became a US Citizen today at the Dallas TX field office! Thanks everyone for your answers to my previous question - they took his green card but never asked for his passport from his home country. The ceremony was scheduled for 9:30am. We arrived around 9am, went through security, then waited in a waiting room until they called in the new citizens into the ceremony room right at 9:30am. Family members had to continue waiting in the waiting room while they checked in and assigned seats to all the new citizens, which took about an hour. At 10:30am, they called in us family members and we sat on the sides of the room, while the new citizens sat in the center, and the ceremony started at 10:45am. They were really generous in allowing us to stand up and take photos of our family members. The ceremony was sweet, and was organized the same as other descriptions of the oath ceremony on this site. Once the ceremony started it took about 45 minutes including coming up to get the certificate. There were 110 new citizens representing 34 different countries. It was really fun when they called out the various countries and the candidates from those countries stood up.

We are so excited for this chapter to be done and to move forward with social security and a new passport. And then hubby plans to go on a nice long trip back to his country to spend time with his family! I know lots of folks from Dallas are still waiting for their interview and I really hope you all hear back soon!

Quick question for those who have had their oath ceremonies - did they take your previous passports from your home country? Or just your green card? The Oath Ceremony notice says to bring "all reentry permits or refugee travel documents you may have, valid or expired", and I'm wondering if this is referring to passports? Thanks for any info!

For whatever reason, my husband's application through the Dallas office went pretty quickly. We mailed in the application on Sep 2, his interview was Dec 15, and his oath ceremony will be next week at the Dallas field office. I hope all the other Dallas folks hear back soon!

As of 2pm central time I am a citizen of the United States of America. The interview barely took 20 mins and was very smooth. First had to swear while standing to tell the truth. Spent 5 mins confirming info on my form, provide IRS documents and check spelling, ssn, DOB and address. Answer 6 questions: 1st President, name of governor, movement that fought for equal rights, ... don't remember the other lol. Then read "who lives in the White House?" And write "The President lives in the White House". Then I had to sign my passport photos and sign the form stating I was approved. Officer asked if I was available at 2 pm to come back for an oath and I almost jumped up and down saying "yes!". Went to work and talked to some friends, had celebratory lunch then went back for oath. We each got a number seat, had to sit and listen to some instructions, listened to and watched the national anthem lyrics and then one by one our names and countries were read off and then we all went up to receive our certificates. Then we watched a video from the President and after the Pledge were dismissed for some photos. Done! I shed a tear I was so happy and relieved!!! It was a touching moment!

Yay, congratulations! Wish we had a same day ceremony, but ours is coming up in a couple weeks! My husband's interview was similar, except that they started with the civics test and reading/writing tests, and then went through the application. We brought so much documentation but they only asked to see his passport. The whole interview didn't even take 15 minutes! Congratulations again!

You can get tax transcripts at this link. It was really easy to get them online on the same day. We got the "Record of Account" transcripts.

During my interview, he asked "where is the statue of Liberty?". I sad New York. He told me to be more specific so I switched it to Liberty island instead. 

Wow that's interesting that they made you be more specific. This is the first time I've heard of them not accepting one of the listed answers. I'm guessing it depends on the officer you get? I believe they are supposed to accept any of the listed answers, but it seems safest to memorize the most specific answers. One more quick question:

Do I need to remember all answers to such questions like:

- What did the Declaration of Independence do? ..the 3 answers are announced our freedom, declared our freedom..said we are free.

Some questions have 3-4 answers.

I know some questions ask us to answer only "one" -- which is fine by me . no complaints about them.

Please let me know.

You only need to say one of the listed answers unless the question specifically asks for a certain number. My husband chose the answer that was easiest for him to memorize and we made our own flashcards with his chosen answers using Quizlet. The test was really straightforward and easy once the answers were memorized. Good luck on your interview!
