We send them an e-mail on early Monday morning and got no reply. Both my fiancee and I called them on Tuesday. They said - send us an e-mail. We said that we already

did. We got a reply to the e-mail on Tuesday afternoon. It said - our scheduling supervisor is out  until next week. :) The quest continues...

    Don't stop calling them.

I don't know why only in the Philippines need the CFO... I processed my visa in Singapore, but my mistake  I flew from Philippines to SeaTac. I heard about CFO but doesn't give much attention because I know I got visa. When I was in immigration, they asked me my CFO. I said I didn't  know about it. because I was based in Singapore. I went to the CFO table and told about my situation. Officer in charge called his manager, and I did talk to my her, geez it takes me 1 hour on the phone to beg for her to give me sticker. they want me to rebook my ticket, I told her the ticket is non refundable unless you want to shoulder my ticket I will attend the seminar... She told me you should call them if there is no schedule available, I said I was calling but no response.. finally the officer in charge give me the CFO sticker.

But you know what, the immigration officer in SeaTac told me, what is this sticker for???  I just laugh.. I said for display  .. :D  :D:D

I was trying to register my fiancee for CFO in Manila for an afternoon session. Their website allowed me to choose the date on the first page and I assumed that the session can be chosen later but they never asked for it, so she was scheduled for the morning session which she cannot attend. Any ideas how to handle this? Thank you.

You can call them, that's what they told me even though there is no slot schedule available they will make it for you.

Thanks! Did my research and read this yesterday and was happy. I was just worried if i need to get local police clearance too but i guess NBI is sufficient :)

I did my NBI on Philippine embassy in Singapore and send the papers to my sister so she can process it for me. Philippine embassy in Singapore did give me the authorization letter for my sister. My sister bring it to NBI taff because its the only place they can process the NBI.

Since you are working in Singapore , you need a COC ( Certificate of Clearance in Singapore ) in able to get that, you need a letter from US Embassy in Singapore. They will send it to you on Packet 3.

    Hope it helps.  Goodluck

yes Case Number is from NVC.

It will take longer time ,  because from NVC  US embassy in Philippines might receive the case in 2 weeks.  after they receive the case , they will still process the papers to send the packet 3 to your fiancé. Might take another 1 week.  After receiving of Packet 3  , she need to get all the required documents for K1-Visa ( NBI, Birth certificate , Cenomar and etc. ) then she need to send it back to US embassy so she can receive the  Packet 4 . Packet 4 contains of request of medical for interview date .

You can try , but there is no assurance that she can fly with you .  My husband bought ticket after my interview, and it happened that he needs to rebook the ticket even though I got approved

So I will suggest to you not to buy a plane ticket.. :) good luck

So I'm looking for advice for our visa process.

    Here is our situation:

    1.  Case number already received.  Letters not received yet.

    2.  I'll be in her country May 27 - June 10.

    3.  We are hoping she can fly back with me June 10.

    4.  We would like to schedule our interview for May 29-June 1 as we will unable to be in Manila from June 2-5.

    5.  She's likely to be on her period from May 14-19 but that is just best guess.

    Assumptions:

    1.  Medical at St. Lukes should be done at least 1 week prior to interview.

    2.  It's recommended to not do your medical after your period or during.

    3.  SLEC requires original of NVC letter.

    So questions/advice requested:

    1. At what point can we schedule the medical?
      • After payment of visa fee?
      • After schedule of interview?
      • Once She has received her packet?
    2. Should she try to schedule her medical for the week of May 8? or can she go after during period?
    3. Any other advice that you can provide that can help us ensure that she flys back with me on June 10 would be greatly appreciated.

    Case number received from NVC?

I wasn't able to get my SSN with my new last name on the card although I was already married and brought the marriage certificate with me. The office clerk told me that they cannot change the name on the card until I have my EAD. Went back to the office on the same day when NOA1 was in the mail. Received the card with the new last name in the mail about 2 weeks later.

It depends on where you go. Some people might process the application and the marriage certificate is enough proof, others tell you to come back with the EAD to get the name changed.

My husband and I went to BoA to open a joint savings account and both of us had to show our SSN. I would call the bank and ask if they require a SSN in order to open a bank account.

I agree with you, also got the same situation with SSN. They followed the name on the passport even though I got marriage certificate.

    Hi,

My wife and I got married and we were not aware that it would be best to get her SSN# two weeks after arrival under the K-1 but before the marriage ceremony. She has decided to change her last name.

Since we filed her Green card docs a few weeks ago in her new name (have not received any notification yet from USCIS), should we then obtain a social security number under her new name or old name?

Also, what set of documents would be best to bring? Her I-94, passport and birth certificate all show her maiden name while her new name appears officially only on our marriage certificate.

    Thanks.

I got my SSN before I applied the AOS, they issued me an SSN under my name before marriage even though I got marriage certificate. They said change it after I get my Green card.

Bring the following when you applied SSN . your wife passport and photocopy of her K1 visa, I-94 and a photocopy of marriage certificate.

"Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center."

I just called NVC today and got a case number, checked it and this came out. Does that mean its on its way to the embassy? When do we get Packet 3? And where is this interview date!?

    Thanks

In transit means they send the packet 3 to embassy and it will depends on the location , maximum 2 weeks. Your fiancée can fill up the DS-160 since you got the case number.

    Hello all,

This is my first post. I recently married my wife from Argentina here in Oklahoma City where I'm from. We will be going through the Adjustment of Status process to secure her residency. I have 2 questions:

    1. Reading the guide to AOS on this site leads me to believe that we should send all of our documentation in one big packet to USCIS. However, when I read the I-485 (both the form and instructions) I'm lead to believe that we must first submit my I-130 (and I-130a + g-1145) and have that approved before we send the I-485 (+864/765/131). Which should we do [I-130 + I-485 -OR- I-130 then I-485]?

    2. In the application for I-130 they want bonafide proofs of the marriage. Given she does not have a SSN, our hands are somewhat tied regarding joint accounts, and we're currently staying in my house which I own, so there's no possibility of showing a lease. I could potentially add her to the water bill, a car that I own outright, and maybe a few other things. Will that be sufficient or do I need to start looking into 3rd party affidavits? If so, how many should I submit? [To be sure, once she secures Employment Authorization/SSN we'll be able to open joint accounts, and will probably be co-leasing a property by the end of the year, so when it comes time for the interview at the end of the AOS process, I suspect the bonafides to be in much more secure condition].

I apologize for asking questions that I'm sure have been answered 1,000 times, but it's a lot of information to sift through on the forums.

    Hi,

You can check this link http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos . I followed the instructions to submit my AOS.

My paper arrangement in sequence was paycheck, cover letter ,

    1. ) I-485 ( attached with copy of passport  and K1-visa, photo copy of approval of I-129F, I-94 which you can access online, Birth Certificate and marriage certificate )

2.) G-325A form  ( with 2x2 passport photos , Attach the bag to a sheet of paper and place behind the G-325a.)

3.) I-693 Medical examination ( referring to medical examination results before packet 4 received during preparation of visa )

4.) I-864 form affidavit of support (petitioner of K1-visa) ( attached with Income tax return - 3 years )

    5.) I-765 form (EAD) and 2 x 2 pictures

I did not fill up the I-131, because am not going to travel outside the US. Right now am just waiting for the interview schedule date from them. Oh , when I get my SSN the name they used is before I get married even though I got marriage certificate. Well , I can change it once I got my GC.

Hope it helps , Good luck :)

Please can anyone give me an average time it takes to hear from USCIS, when a case of AOS is sent there? I noticed they do not have a processing time for AOS from K1 on the uscis website. It was sent to chicago for for a month now and we didnt hear from them, if they got it or not. any help please.

Did you get the I-485  an I-765  NOA1 receipt? if yes,  you can visit there website https://www.uscis.gov/  using the receipt number for your status. It takes 30 days for me to do biometrics. I checked my case and they schedule me for interview, am just waiting to receive my paper when will be the date . Goodluck

CENOMAR is valid for 6 months so if your interview schedule is within the 6 month validity of your CENOMAR then you should be good. I too have applied for my CENOMAR 2 months after my NOA1. Hopefully we get approved soon so we don't have to request for it again. That piece of paper isn't cheap.

hi, did you order it online and address the CENOMAR on US Embassy in the Philippines? CENOMAR should send to US embassy and make sure you have the NVC number . If not , US embassy might misplace your cenomar.

Other documents I mentioned below you need it on interview except for the CENOMAR, they MUST receive it from the NSO.

    Happy Easter

Hello everyone. I have a query regarding the requirements during the interview. I already have my cenomar last feb, i had my NOA1 last march 1 and i still dont have the noa 2. Would there be problems if my cenomar would be 4-5months old during the interview? Has anyone experienced this? Another question is how many CENOMARs and Birth certs do i need to prepare? Thanks in advance to those who will respond. :D

    Hi Loreal ,

As far as I know, documents should be valid for 6 months. I would suggest that you get all your requirements after you get the case number in NVC, once you get it you can prepare the required documents.

These are the required documents :

    BIRTH CERTIFICATE:

MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE and MARRIAGE TERMINATION PAPERS:

    UNOBTAINABLE BIRTH CERTIFICATES:

POLICE CERTIFICATES: Each applicant aged 16 years or over is required to submit a police certificate from the police authorities of each locality where the applicant has resided for twelve months or more since attaining the age of sixteen.

PHOTOGRAPHS: Two (2) color photographs are required for each applicant, regardless of age.  The photographs must be full face 2 inches (about 50mm) square, unretouched and unmounted, with white background.  No head covering or glasses should be worn.

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT: Evidence which will show that you and your children, if any, are not likely to become public charges in the United States. If an affidavit of support is to be submitted, Form 1-134 should be used.

    Regards :)

  14. Hi pch1,

2- My Filipino Fiance living and working in Singapore, have to request CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE from NSO and it must be submitted directly to the US Embassy, No longer allowed to bring it with you.

    - she requested Certificate of No marriage in Philippines or here in Singapore? Thank you.. Am currently preparing all the documents also.. your reply will be a big help :)

2- My Filipino Fiance living and working in Singapore, have to request CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE from NSO and it must be submitted directly to the US Embassy, No longer allowed to bring it with you.

  15. I just want to let members applying for K1 Visa in Singapore for recent changes sent with Packet 3. My Filipino Fiance living and working in Singapore just received this packet on the 10th of August, 2016...

1- Police Clearance in Singapore is done online only. No more walk-ins except for doing finger printing when notified. Police Clearance is submitted directly to the requesting office, US Embassy. No longer allowed to bring it with you.

2- My Filipino Fiance living and working in Singapore, have to request CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE from NSO and it must be submitted directly to the US Embassy, No longer allowed to bring it with you.

3- Final Divorce decrees and documents for THE US PETITIONER must be brought to the interview.

4- Affidavit of Support I-134 must be signed with the full name...(This was really confusing to me since at the bottom it says, Sign) but the letter sent in packet 3 it states "Must be signed with full name." I had to send another copy signed with full name as it shows on the petition.

5- Each alien must submit a separate form I-134, affidavit of support.

6- If you are applying for kids even if they are not travelling with you at the same time. In my Fiance case, her son in the Philippines and will join us in the near future..."the Applicant must bring the birth certificate of the child even if not traveling at the same time."
