Aloha! To the best of my knowledge USCIS does not provide specific guidelines for cover letters. We were uncertain as well so we just crafted the cover letter to be from both of us. Since the "Petitioner" is the immigrating spouse, we put my immigrating spouse first, and me (USC) second.

Here's how our cover letter opens:

    "Dear Madam or Sir:

Enclosed please find Form I-751 and evidentiary materials to support Removal of Conditions on Residence for Mr. (full name of petitioner). USCIS granted Mr. (last name of petitioner) Conditional Permanent Residence on (month, day, year)."

The letter then gives a brief summary of the petition, and closes by thanking the reviewer for their time and consideration. We both signed at the bottom and included our dates and places of birth. The letter (one-page) was then followed by a four-page Table of Contents.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks. Since I'm writing the cover letter I naturally narrate as myself and was unsure. Addressing the whole letter as 'us' sounds like the best way.

  2. Hello Everyone,

I will be a November I-751 filer and needed some quick clarifications. I hope this thread is not a wrong one to ask some advice on. In some sample cover letters I see that the writer was the US-Citizen Spouse filing for their Condition Permanent Resident Spouses eg. "Please find appended Form I-751 and materials to support removal of conditions on residence for my wife, Happy Chic. USCIS granted Happy Chic conditional permanent residence on March 03, 2014."

Question - Is that the way it has to be? I don't mind doing it either but I'm curious

  3. Hello everyone, My interview is with Mumbai embassy on Feb 10th. Does anybody know how to schedule the interview for biometrics in traveldocs? I already had an account there with since when I had applied for other non-immigrant visa's. I gave the same email-ID in this CR1 process.

I need to change my profile details in that account but It won't let me and traveldocs support@Mumbai consulate says they can't let me change it since they dont have any information about my interview with them yet.

Does the appointment for interview automatically show up when we create an account?I'm so confused!

Is it mandatory / cumpolsory to add or advisable because I have very less time

You can try to apply for PCC ; take an appointment and show up there and see if they grant it without the addition of name. Or just call them and inquire about this . If not, they'll ask you to add it..I've read before that you have to add spouse's name but I'm not sure since I had already added it before.

took close to 42 days for CC. No checklist by God's mercies. Now waiting for email confirmation of interview schedule.

So about 6 weeks. This gives me a little hope :) My I130 took FOREVER to get approved. Let us know when you get the interview date.

Yup :) Oh ok good! Wow I had no idea they took so long. I got the wrong one by mistake but have an appointment at the PSK tomorrow. Hoping I don't get a checklist.

So you sent the one from Police Commissioner's Office in your packet you sent to NVC? Will you send this one in later in another mail?

Hi! We sent out our packet to NVC today too! Did you get the PCC from the police station or regional passport office?

Hey! We'll have the same SD then :) I got it from the PSK(Passport Seva Kendra) in Mumbai; which means from the Regional Passport Office. It's similar to the one someone posted in the earlier page in this thread.

  8. We just sent out our packet to NVC today. Hoping for a quick turnaround on this part. *fingers crossed* for no further checklists. It took us 3 weeks to get my PCC from Mumbai. Hopefully Christmas holidays don't delay this process similar to how Diwali did for my PCC in India.

Yes there is confusion between Certificate of Registration of Marriage and a Marriage Certificate. Can't get the Certificate of Registration of Marriage without a Marriage Certificate, but USCIS cannot keep up with all the ever changing formalities in a country (region, state, city), so they have a set standard and it's best to follow it to a T 😅

Once they received it, it took about 10 days for them to approve it and it took 13 additional days for it to be received by the NVC

I received the notice from the USCIS app and a few days later, the hard copy arrived via mail.

    Hope this helps. ☺️

It does indeed. Thank you :) Unfortunately my case is a little different. We received the mail; and it says the officer is unable to establish bonafide proof of marriage and needs us a list of evidence from us for him/her to establish that. Our lawyer sent quite some evidence but apparently it wasn't enough; so we're starting back from scratch and gathering ALL sorts of evidence. A lot of it. It's probably going to take the next before we can send it to uscis and how much time for them to review who knows! But I'm sure it won't be a quickie. :(

When I saw the RFE on the app, I remember that I stopped breathing for a bit...

I had every document you could think in there, but there was a confusion between the Indian marriage certificate vs Indian marriage registration certificate. Once I sent in the marriage certificate as well, we were good to go.

I was researching what generally people get RFE's for and see the marriage certificate coming up often.

We have submitted our court marriage certificate that clearly says "CERTIFICATE OR MARRIAGE". I keep wondering what it could be; after 10 whole months of nothing! :/

We still haven't received any postal mail. How much time after they acknowledged receipt of evidence in your case did you see the approval?

As of end of march Csc was working on dec 2016 for citizens and aug for permanent resident.  If u a citizen and u have not heard anything with PD of nov 3. U should call

My husband was a PR till a week ago. We just sent in his naturalization letter last week; they said you've to give them 60days to process it. Not sure if this is gonna hurt my timeline or benefit it. It's too soon for them to have shifted me in the citizen category right?

Awww does anyone know the thread for california service center ?

No idea! My case is at CSC too and from the VJ timelines and case tracker it looks like they're still on September/random October cases. My PD is 3 Nov and it's already been SO long.  Running out of patience here..there's so much movement for Nebraska; there's even separate threads for it; although I cant seem to find one for California.

  13. Hello October filers, has anyone been approved from California Service Center? I see a lots getting approved from Nebraska but not sure about CSC. My PD is Nov 3 and I was wondering if people from CSC was transferred to another center or they were approved at CSC itself. It's almost 6 months and I see no change in my status online and I'm honestly getting super anxious and impatient. :( The wait is absolutely killer. I guess I will call them once I hit 6 months on May 3rd. Good luck to all those who got approved by now!
