Foreign State of Chargeability

The independent country to which an immigrant entering under the preference system is accredited. No more than 7 percent of the family-sponsored and employment-based visas may be issued to natives of any one independent country in a fiscal year. No one dependency of any independent country may receive more than 2 percent of the family-sponsored and employment-based visas issued. Since these limits are based on visa issuance rather than entries into the United States, and immigrant visas are valid for 6 months, there is not total correspondence between these two occurrences. Chargeability is usually determined by country of birth. Exceptions are made to prevent the separation of family members when the limitation for the country of birth has been met.

It's because you were born in the Philippines looks like regardless of your citizenship.

It states Philippines because that is the country you were born in, this is not a determination of citizenship. This only has bearing with quota visas. This has zero bearing with the K-1 visa.

The foreign state of chargeability is a United States immigration concept it is the country determined to be the applicant's origin. In general, the applicant's country of birth will determine their country of chargeability.

Being born in the Philippines does not give you citizenship from that country.

you cant change it since you was born in phil so everywhere they will mentioned place of birth phil thats how its work your green card,us passport every where ur place of birth will be phil

I'm not sure, but you might have better luck over in the Regional Discussion forum for your embassy- I would try both Japan and Phillippines.

I didnt get a text or email too for NOA2.

And no Hard copy yet either. I got approved online on 16thSept. No NVC case no. Either

Im starting to get worried.

We changed to a new address 10days before our NOA2 was approved online. Is it possible that the noa2 hardcoly was sent to the old adress?

I called again and still no number. Does anyone else NOA2 say petition approved and forwarded to listed consulate. She told me I should be contacting the consulate or USCIS and not them.

Yes they give u the number over the phone when u give ur receipt number( if they received ur case). I called yesterday and they received ours , so anyone around 9/13 NOA should definetly call!

I just got through to the NVC via phone call (approx 20mins on hold, at 11:43EST) and my case has not yet reached the NVC.

my NOA2 approval date was 9/15

I will call back on Friday if I do not receive my NVC letter by then.

I sent my petition August 1st, received NOA1 August 8th, and I'm happy to say last night we finally got NOA2!!

I was so surprised, I had given up on even checking my case and then the email came through at 10:27PM
