Another update on husband's EAD card typo.. I received a letter in the mail yesterday stating I have to send the original card along with a detailed explanation of the card error and supporting documents on the correct information. Examples of supporting documentation may include a copy of his birth certificate, marriage certificate, legal name change etc. Once the correct card is received, a review of your file will be done to determine the error. If it is determined to be an error made by USCIS, you will be issued a corrected EAD. However if it is determined that it is not an error made by USCIS you will receive further instructions on how to obtain a corrected card.

GREAT! Another 1-2 months down the drain....

Was the name spelled correct on the hardcopy NOA's you received?

If you are 100% sure that it was USCIS that made the mistake I would get the senator/congressman involved. Also open a case with DHS ombudsman. And it might not help much, but make an infopass appointment and discuss the case in person.

I filed the SR literally from the 28th and just heard anything yesterday and then that general response today

I got the same response as well a couple days after I filed a SR. USCIS has been closed from the 31st until yesterday so that is why it took them longer probably. Keep day 90 as your benchmark. It seems that with the holidays and the bigger caseloads they received they can't do it much faster than that unless you get extremely lucky. I have read a report from USCIS that they approve 98.7% of all I765 cases received (which was almost 1.2 million for 2015) within 90 days. I know it sucks, but be patient for a couple more days. It will come. Mine got approved on day 91

  3. My adjustment of status case is ready to be scheduled for an interview. There has been no date set yet, but when I look at the processing times of my local field office I would expect it to be scheduled in late February/early March.

There is one problem however. I will be moving from Florida to Alaska on February 1st. Normally, the move will be temporarily (4 months) and for tax reasons etc. I will keep my official residence in Florida. Now if I get an interview date set it will be in Florida. I can't afford the money or the time to fly from Alaska to Florida for the interview.

So my question is what can I do?

    - Can I change my mailing address so the case will be assigned to the Alaska USCIS field office while I am there? Can I do this without changing my official residence?

    - I know I can ask for another date when I get an interview notice, but can I do this a few times? If  for instance they reschedule it from march to april that won't help me much.

I have called the helpline, but they were more line than help. All they said was that if the case is ready to be scheduled for an interview that it is with the local field office and they can not contact them about it. (what?).

So if any of you has been in a comparable situation please share your experiences.

    Thanks!

Hi brothers and sisters my last update 7th of December 2016 case is ready for interview but I still haven't received any letters or other updates

What should I have to do

Just hang in there and wait. It depends on how fast your local office is. Check the processing times and it will give you an idea of when to expect an interview. You can always try to get your senator or congressman involved to try and get your interview scheduled earlier or later.

I received my EAD in production email today. Followed by two approval emails for my EAD and AP 2 hours later.

Same exact thing happened to me. First I got an email that my card was in production and then around 7.30PM two emails that the cases are approved. Strange, I hope the card will be mailed very soon.

Congrats! Soon enough it'll be in your hands!

After reading your update, I immediately checked my status online and received good news as well. Interview is now scheduled for the 7th of February.

Hang in there guys, progress is on our way :)

Thanks. That's good news about the interview. I hope mine will get scheduled soon as well. I am moving across the country in February and I don't want to have to go through the hassle of having my case transferred from one field office to another. Especially cause the move is only temporary for 4,5 months.

Fingers crossed for for the rest of you that you will get good news very soon as well!

If you have a job offer ready, make sure to have a job letter stating when you will start of when they want to hire you - either way-, put in an expedite request and contact your local congressman with a letter and supporting evidence.

I know. I already did all of that. I'm still waiting for an answer though. Hopefully the holidays delayed everything and I will get a response this week.

That's good! Let us know how it goes. Mine has been assigned to an officer for a response as well. I feel like they are definitely rested after the holidays and will be moving faster

I don't want to get your hopes down, but I put in the same request on day 76 and it was assigned to an officer the same day. 4 days later I received a letter in the mail stating that my case was still within normal processing times and that if I don't get approved by day 90 I should call USCIS.

Today is day 91 and still no updates.

I was very positive that everything would work out fine, but now I am getting stressed out. I have a job lined up for me, starting February, and I would like to get everything done on time. I also wanted to travel home to visit family and friends before I start working, but I guess there's not going to be any time for that unless my card arrives this week.

I opened an inquiry with the DHS ombudsman today, but their response can take up to 45 days as well. I have contacted the senator, but to no avail yet. I also have an InfoPass lined uo for next week just in case. So even though there are a lot of channels you can try to use to speed up your case, all of it seems to come down to which USCIS officer is assigned to your case and his/her work ethics.

I submitted a service request 2 days ago and I have heard nothing, reading here I've seen where people got emails that an officer is working on the case. I did not even get that email sigh.. Well great.. :(

Log into your profile on the USCIS website and click on the case you submitted a service request for. You should see a timeline there and it will show if it has been assigned to an officer for review. I didn't get an email either, but I got a hardcopy a few days later stating that everything was within normal processing times

  9. I just got a message from USCIS; new card is being produced. My case was active for 84 days. So yeah, the wait was beyond exhausting and literally dragging but we all have to hang in there. Here's my timeline:

    Oct 4 case was received

    Nov 18 Did my Biometrics

On my 76th day, I filed for a service request online

Dec 28 received notification of production for the new card

Case is being worked by National Benefits Center

I was on F1 visa and did concurrent filing

What was the reply on your service request? To me they sent a letter stating that everything was being processed and that if I didn't receive a status update within the 90 days timeframe I should call them. Did you get a letter like that?

  10. Also, RFE's during AOS can reset the clock for your application, in case anyone wants to know. For me, it's just finding out now if the actually reset it or delayed or I'm lucky.

Apparently that's not the case anymore. I had a request for initial evidence for I485 (birth certificate for joint sponsor was missing). I called USCIS to ask if the timeline for my I485 and other cases would be reset or delayed. She said that it would only affect my I485, it would be put on hold until they received the evidence. The I485 is ironically the only case so far for which I have received a status update.

  11. The timeline visa journey said USCIS is processing 10/15 date I-765. Has anyone mailed before 10/15 get their EAD card?

That timeline is just an estimate. Take the 90 days a s your guideline. I filed 10/05 and still haven't had any news. I filed a service request on day 76 and got a response that it was still being worked on and that the case was within normal processing times. Today is day 85 for me so I should get an update within the next 5 days.

  12. Hello all

I got another complicated situation going on. I have called the USCIS "help"line a couple of times, but no one seemed to know a proper solution.

    My situation is the following:

My 485 is scheduled for an interview since 12/14, but I don't have an interview date yet. My EAD and AP are pending (should get approved by 01/03).

Currently I live in Florida, but as of February 13th I will start working in Alaska until June. I will be moving the 1st of February from Florida to Alaska.

The problem is, I can't change my address. The job is a contract, travel position and I need to keep my residence in another state for tax and permit reasons. So basically I need to keep my official residence in Florida for 4 months. Only if I decide to stay after those four months are up I can officially change my address to Alaska.

I am getting worried that my interview will be scheduled while I am away. The trip back to Florida just for the interview takes too long and is too expensive so that is no option. Changing my address to have my file transferred to the local Alaska office is no option either since I need to keep my address in Florida.

I could ask for a rescheduling of my interview, but what if they reschedule it for a date I am still in Alaska? Or if they don't accept it as a valid reason?

I have booked an INFOPASS appointment on January 9th to explain the whole situation in person and I am hoping that they could schedule an interview appointment for me on the spot. But I guess this is idle hope. Has anyone else here tried this? Or has anyone had a similar experience to mine?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  13. Well I can't see from your timeline what you're adjusting from but when you enter on a K1 visa you are eligible for a SSN and you may apply up until 14 days before your present immigration document (i-94) expires. I just went and applied... no need to convince anyone ;)

I can't apply for a license here in Texas till I get my EAD... :/

Thank you. That explains it. I didn't get a K1 visa as we were not planning on getting married yet, so I'm adjusting status from visa waiver.

I'll just have to wait for my EAD to come then. Hopefully very soon. I've been waiting 82 days now

  14. Could you tell me how you got the SSN? What did you say to convince them to give you a SSN?

I thought I could only get one with the EAD in hand. I don't need it for work, but to apply for a professional license so I have the license in hand when I my EAD arrives.

  15. *edit*

But we also found out that they send out a request for initial evidence.

Now we are wondering what it might be about? Would the missing birth certificate of the co-sponsor be a request for initial evidence? Or the fact that we only sent 1 page of a tax return of the co-sponsor?

Does anyone have an idea? :(

The birth certificate.Same exact thing happened to me. I only sent one tax return as well and they didn't ask about that. It delayed my cases with about two weeks, but luckily time was not reset to zero.

  16. Could you please let me know how to make a service update request online? My wife did a walk-in biometrics on October 28th (original appointment date is November 7th), it's been completely quiet since then. No updates on I-485, EAD, or AP.

I am an active Army officer and moving to another duty station soon, I don't know if it's better to get help from local congressmen in my case.

    Thank you very much!

check your case. when the page with your status opens there are four tabs/picture at the bottom. the second one from the left says "submit a case inquiry"

click this and it will take you to a form to fill out. or you can call the service center and request a case inquiry.

This only works whenever the regulatory timeframe is approaching, so for EAD after 75 days counting from the day they received your file

  17. I got a letter from USCIS today. I thought it was going to be a notification for my interview date, but it's actually a response to the service update request I filed on Monday. It states that they reviewed the case, but that it is still within normal processing times (I knew that) and that if I have not received a decision before the deadline I should call the service center.

Not great news, but at least I know now they are working on it I guess. The letter was sent on the same day I put in the request so it was a pretty quick response.

    9 more days!

  18. Oh my god my interview is now scheduled!

I wasn't even checking i-485 these days since I didn't expect anything to come up soon haha.

But still no news on EAD/AP since October 12.

I'm sure everyone will get a good news shortly!

On December 23, 2016, we scheduled you for your interview and mailed you an interview notice for Receipt Number ##. Your interview is on January 31, 2017. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your interview notice by January 22, 2017, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

That's a great christmas gift! Our timelines are similar so hopefully I'll get a notice soon as well!

  19. My online case status didn't change but my Congresswoman forwarded me an email that USCIS has my interview scheduled for January 23rd 2017. Also, EAD and AP have been put into the expedite queue. At this rate I dont know if I will even need EAD or AP, BUT.. I'm not complaining!

How did you contact your congresswoman? I have sent two emails already but no response yet. I have a job offer and I only need to start February 13th, so I should have my EAD well before that, but because I need to applly for a professional license as a PT I need to request a social security number ASAP.

My I485 is scheduled for an interview and I would love to have this done before I start work as my job is out of state for 4 months.

  20. Lol woah, defense mode much eh? I never said you can't expedite before 75 days, you can always expedite. I know it's frustrating to not be able to work or visit abroad but it is what it is. We all knew from the K1 beginning what we had to suck up. I also won't be putting in a service request because I either am going to expedite on my job offer if they call this week or I just await until they approve, which next month is due to the 90-day-waiting. So it won't matter if I put in a service request or not. Plus I counted 44 working days but in total I'm on 65 somewhere including all the weekends.

To each their own, if you don't want to do that you don't need to, but don't be talking down on people who are anxious, impatient or whatever. And even if you have a job offer to expedite it's no guarantee for success. I'm fine with waiting 90 days, everyone probably is because we knew that is was going to be 90 days. The frustrating part is that there is no guarantee. Even if they miss the 90 day mark, they can make you wait up to 30 days before putting in another service request and so on. I think a lot of people here are a little bit worried that the whole process is very dependent on who gets your file and how their work ethics are. Some people are better in dealing with things that are out of their control than others. I hope this helps in understanding the people who file for service requests. This forum is to help and support people who are in the same situation are have been there.

By the way it's useless to count business days, USCIS works 7/7

  21. We have similar timelines, but I've had no updates since biometrics on 11/9. Also, the date on the processing times here on the forum keeps getting pushed back for me on my timeline. I don't know if it's because a lot of us aren't updating our timelines or just because the USCIS is starting to get backlogged. Also i would assume delays with xmas and New Year's but who knows. Everything seems so random. At least you got an update for interview. :joy: Also, if you don't mind me asking what was your RFE for?

RFE was for the I485. I needed to proof US citizenship for my mother-in-law as she signed as a co-sponsor. I sent in a copy of her birth certificate. It was received by them on 11/22 and on 12/14 I got the notice that my case was ready to be scheduled for interview
