Habibi has been in the country since December 15th and it's amazingly wonderful!  We spent the holidays together and with my family and said "I do" on December 30th.

We had a simple ceremony with my close family at our house and had a small Moroccan reception immediately afterwards. We'll be having a BIG family and friends reception/party for everyone we know in the summer.

We've also applied for his SS number (which should be arriving in two weeks or so because we applied on December 22nd). Once we have that he'll be added to our checking account and some of the house bills.

    Now we're on to AoS!

CassandraSerenity got a reaction from Kay&Epi in How did you prepare for your fiance to arrive in the US?
I'm just curious what type of prep other petitioners did to get their house/environment/life ready for their fiancé/spouse to arrive?
What things did you have finished before they got here? Was there anything you overlooked at first and wished you could have had ready for them?
Being a little ####### retentive I'm trying to make the transition as easy as possible for my fiancé by having things like his new cellphone, a key to the house, phone numbers for family members in his phone, a copy of our bank card, etc... But I'm curious how others have handled this or are handling it.

The CO won't see me because I'm the US citizen. My fiancé is doing the interview in Morocco on Monday.
And, who isn't nervous when you're finally near the end of a journey? Logic about knowing that we're a real couple and have all the proof to show it is not the same as that gut feeling with a mixture of anticipation, nerves, and hopeful pessimism.

The birth certificate for the Moroccan fiancé may expire in Morocco in 3 months, but the US will accept a birth certificate for up to one year from issue date. You will need a copy of the birth certificate to file the original petition.
I can tell you that we front-loaded our petition and included his divorce decree, his birth certificate, his police certificate, his court certificate, and all of the translations when we originally applied. It's not needed, but we also didn't have a RFE. Habibi's interview is Nov 7th and he's getting updated copies of the police and court records and their translations (just to be sure).

After a completely shitty day for both me and my fiance we have a single redeeming part of the day... we got our NOA2!!
    NOA1: July 22nd
    NOA2: Sept 7th
One day, ten hours, and thirty-six minutes until I leave to visit my habibi!

I completely understand your feelings and where you're coming from.
I explained it to my fiancé like a rollercoaster ride that goes up and down so often I feel a little sick. From 5pm PDT until 8pm PDT everyday I'm watching my phone waiting to see if I get a RFD or approval. The wait builds up and builds up just as the hope that today will be our day. Then the crash when instead of a notification about us I see the other approvals coming in. I'm truly happy for everyone who gets their approval (please don't get me wrong on that) but it feels a little like a punch to the gut to know we're left waiting again. And no matter how I try to school myself into not hoping as much the next day the same pattern repeats itself.
I refuse to put things on hold though. I'll be at a wedding tomorrow for two dear friends and then next weekend I'll be flying to Morocco for a week with my habibi and his family to celebrate the Eid. Even with that said, it was be very wonderful to get to celebrate an approval when we get to see each other again in a week.
I wish a very speedy approval for you Allison!

Smiles, I'm the same way. I'm very happy for everyone who is getting approved and moving forward, but it's a roller coast of feeling until I see something positive. Each time my phone blinks I'm hoping its a text/email about an approval. I may end up with heart palpitations with how much it goes up and down just waiting.
