  1. Hubby came into the country Dec 15th and we were married Dec 30th.  Had to wait to file taxes so I could submit them with our AoS (the tax refund was helpful too).

We submitted our AoS (all three forms) on Feb 13th via Express Mail. It arrived on Feb 16th.  Wait.. wait.. wait...

Our check was cashed today, but we haven't gotten the notice via text or email yet.  I'm hoping they will come in shortly.

  2. Habibi has been in the country since December 15th and it's amazingly wonderful!  We spent the holidays together and with my family and said "I do" on December 30th.  :)

We had a simple ceremony with my close family at our house and had a small Moroccan reception immediately afterwards. We'll be having a BIG family and friends reception/party for everyone we know in the summer.

We've also applied for his SS number (which should be arriving in two weeks or so because we applied on December 22nd). Once we have that he'll be added to our checking account and some of the house bills.

    Now we're on to AoS!

  3. However, we are going back January 1 to get married at the top of the Space Needle! ❤️❤️❤️ During the day though ;)

Awww.. that's so sweet! We are getting married on Dec 30th at our house.

But I do plan on picking up a City Pass to take him around to the Space Needle, Woodland Park Zoo, the Aquarium, Argus tour, and Pacific Science Center. Exploring Seattle is going to be what we do on our "honeymoon". I also plan to take him to the Peninsula to meet some of my friends in Sequim and Port Angeles and see the mountains up on Hurricane Ridge. I LOVE Washington state!

  4. thank you!

He paid, he had a nice sports car that he sold in the UK and a Jeep he restored and sold to his uncle, so he had a bit of cash that we transferred. We used Transferwise, it was super simple and super cheap. I've been paying for all the little things since he moved though, we can't add him to my credit union until he gets an SSN.

Congrats on getting married!! That's so wonderful. :) We're tying the knot of Dec 30th. One year after he proposed.

Getting the SSN is really important to get anything else done like adding him to your bank account. I'm working on that paperwork so we can submit as soon as we have his POE info. It's also good to have for when you add him to your insurance and such.

We aren't buying my fiancé a car yet (he needs to pass the drivers test here first because they don't require one for a motorcycle in Morocco and that's all he's ever had), but I did get him a nice bike and he loves to cycle.

  5. Yay! Cassandra! You are a busy family girl! I try to do things but I am not so hard working as you are. Your fiance is lucky and with all these cookes wh will get fat very soon, lol!

Merry Christmas to you and your family! How your teenager boys are taking the news?

    Tasha

my fiance arrive on 12/23, just before Christmas (L)

Congrats on your fiancé arriving so soon!

I've been teasing habibi about making him fat for months. He's a very fit guy, but he loves sweets too LOL.

  6. Lucky guy!

And just a word of warning, I may be stopping by for some of those cookies...

Good luck to you both! I know you're excited!

You're welcome to stop by for cookies :) When I bake (or do pretty much anything) I tend to go overboard.

So far I have holiday chocolate chip cookies (with green and red chocolate chips), peanut butter cookies, cherry bonbons, peppermint pinwheels, peppermint thumbprints with heresy's hugs in the center, and regular thumbprint cookies with hugs in the center. Plus, regular fudge and peanut butter fudge.

I will want to make almond log cookies, sugar cookies, peppermint brownie cookies, and Monster cookies (these cookies have a little bit of everything in them like peanut butter, chocolate chips, marshmallows, nuts, M&Ms, etc..). There will most likely be another 300 cookies before I'm done LOL.

I am giving some cookies to friends and family, but I also have two teenage boys at home.

  7. WOW!!!!!!! What do you do before he arrives? House organizing? What plans do you have?

I am so happy for you, this step is over and the rest is together

    Tasha

Honestly, I've been getting ready for him to arrive since we submitted lol. I've cleared dresser and closet space, got him a house key and US cell phone (and set it up with close family numbers and pictures of his family and us when I was visiting him in Morocco), cleaned the house, setup a profile for him on Netflix and the computer, got him his own stocking for the holidays and his first tree ornament, I've found a local halal butcher (two actually) and a store that sells items from Morocco and the middle east that he might like, this weekend I've been baking goodies for him and the family (over 300 cookies so far and 5 large containers of fudge), and we have a big family Christmas event on Saturday where he'll get to meet my family in-person and not just through Skype.

I also asked other members of VJ for ideas and got some good ones like making maps of the local area, showing him where the library is so he can read if he wants, taking him shopping after he gets in to get some of his favorite foods and get him out of the house, and setup Skype times with his family so they can talk often.

  8. Does anyone know the time frame between when CEAC says ISSUED and when you can pick up your visa at Aramex? Our visa was ISSED last Friday and the Aramex tracking has said "Your passport is still with the US Embassy/Consulate" for the last two days. I want to buy my fiancé's ticket here, but I'm afraid it will take another week or more to get the passport and visa back.

He already missed Thanksgiving here and Sunday my oldest turns 18. My oldest REALLY wanted my fiancé to be here for that because they've become very close friends. Do you think he'll make it?

  9. I'm just curious what type of prep other petitioners did to get their house/environment/life ready for their fiancé/spouse to arrive?

What things did you have finished before they got here? Was there anything you overlooked at first and wished you could have had ready for them?

Being a little ####### retentive I'm trying to make the transition as easy as possible for my fiancé by having things like his new cellphone, a key to the house, phone numbers for family members in his phone, a copy of our bank card, etc... But I'm curious how others have handled this or are handling it.

  10. We've FINALLY gotten an update on our status. Fiancé's interview was Nov 7th and we've been waiting and waiting for ages for it to say something other than READY for interview. Today the status chanced to Administrative Processing and both the case date and status date changed today.

That means they will issue his visa soon, correct? They've had his passport for almost a month and it's driving us crazy!

  11. %100 Agree,

between that, what happened with u guys?

We are still waiting for an update. The status still says READY for interview, but we did get our very first Status Date change on Friday, Nov 25th. Nothing today though. :(

We're really hoping that we get the visa this week. My oldest son's 18th birthday is coming up in mid-December and he really wants my fiancé to be here for it.

  12. For anyone who has either been approved or is in AP for Morocco....

Has anyone in the last two months actually received their passport with visa back from Casablanca? I have been checking timelines but the last person to say they have received their passport with visa is from September. I'm curious if people aren't updating now that they have been approved or if no one has actually gotten their passport with visa back yet.

  13. H, I was wondering if there were any other couples from Egypt that have been waiting in AP for 5 months or more. We have been in AP since June 21st ..all that was needed to finish our via was 4 papers. ..birth certificate for hubby's daughter, marriage and divorce decree from his ex and a family history. .all which were given within 3 days. Our case has been updated several times but with no end in sight. Very frustrating especially seeing that they have had my husband's passport this entire time. Feeling like we're being held hostage at this point. .wanting to know if others from the Cairo Area are in the same situation or is this unique to us.....

After 60 days you can involve your US senator. If you haven't already, I would be emailing the Embassy for an update as well and calling the DoS to confirm that they have not received your case back from the Embassy. Don't just sit quietly and wait. It is a fine line to walk, but you need to be pro-active and patient.

  14. When i emailed at Casa i always got a response / sometimes took a couple of days but they did respond

Did the embassy keep his passport? IF not, then you probably will learn the case was sent back to US

The Embassy does have his passport. But the case in CEAC still says READY for interview without any update to the Update Status Date. Which is why I want to poke them to find out what is going on.

  15. I'm curious about the people who have received a 221g form from their interview and if/when they reached out to the Embassy for updates on their status?

My case is a little strange as my fiancé received both a 221g (white) form asking for a document we didn't know we needed and a letter of welcome to the US with domestic violence pamphlet. In this welcome to the US letter it says he will get his visa one week after the interview or one week after the documents are submitted. It's been almost 2 weeks and our CEAC status hasn't been updated once. Not even when the Embassy received that missing document two days after the interview.

Aramex told my fiancé to contact them 10 days after dropping off the document and his passport. So he'll be calling them tomorrow. But I'm wondering about what others have done in regards to contacting or not contacting their Embassy after no movement. I don't want to annoy someone at the Embassy and have them "lose" our file for a while. But I don't want it to go unlooked at too. There has been no update to the case since the interview.

I did call DoS/NVC yesterday to see if they had a status update. They couldn't see any movement on the case either, but did reassure me that the case hadn't been returned to them and was still with the Embassy.

What have you done after getting a 221g form? Did you wait patiently without contact or did you reach out? If so, when did you reach out to your Embassy?

  16. lol

thats good to be a fighter for your life and dream and whoever fights for her/his dream will get it whether now or later, remember the universal listens to us that we wanna be with our loved ones ;) let's pray that we hear good news as soon as possible.

well, do like we did keep emailing the embassy till they answer you back. i don't know how it works in morocco, but i guess there is nothing to do with Aramex cuz the might say they deliver it and a person from the embassy picked up the docs but the case person didnt look at the docs yet so thats why not update.

oic thats a good sign to give him welcome to the US" with domestic violence pamphlet, so i guess ur almost there after they look at the receiving docs from ur fiance. my fiance got the same pamphlet and kept his passport but since OCT 31st no update :(

however, i feel you are close to get your visa in DEC, finger crossed! :)

I've had a very good experience with the Embassy in regards to them replying to emails very quickly. I've emailed them twice about different matters and they have always replied the same day (normally within a few hours or less).

It's a fine line between reaching out too often and not reaching out. I'm trying to balance that so they hurry along with the review and don't think we're pushy so they "lose" our paperwork for a while.

  17. oic, it's exactly a black hole point the AP, we can't understand anything. so what im guessing when there is no update that it could be the case is pending or no one working on it which is not good sign and might take longer! :(

I am not a sit and wait kind of girl LOL.

When my fiancé dropped off the documents the Embassy wanted along with his passport Aramex said to call them in 10 days. That will be Saturday. My fiancé is going to call Aramex then. If we don't hear anything or see a change I'm going to email the Embassy on Monday (again) to find out the status.

We got two papers at the interview. One was the white 221-g stating we needed the certificate of celibacy and translation. The other was the "welcome to the US" with domestic violence pamphlet. The second paper said that he should receive his passport within a week after the interview or a week after submitting the required documents. It did say there could be more processing time needed, but I will be pointing out the one week part of the paper.

  18. Hi guys,

We are just curious to ask about the status update under AP nonimmigrant visa after creation date and status date both have been changed to the same date of OCT 31st.

we have emailed the embassy couple times and they replied us twice and DOS update us about our status once which was last week. I've read that every time when we get a reply from the embassy or DOS answers our call the ceca should be updated too. in our case both replies from the embassy and the last time call with DOS nothing has been updated.

is that sign of a pending case can't be updated or the case is locked?

thnx for any sharing experience with us!

I'm not sure why both the Creation Date and Status Date are the same. Mine are different. Creation Date is the day it was submitted to NVC and Status Date shows the day after my fiancé's interview. Neither of these dates have changed for us and we submitted the one required document on Nov 10th and I emailed and received a reply on Nov 14th. The Status Date didn't change either of those times.

  19. Hi Everyone.

Today was a total let down.

I met my Finance when we both lived in Dubai. I am American he is from Morocco. I am 41 he is 29. We met in Oct 2015. I moved back to the US in March 2016 and he moved back to Morocco. While we were in Dubai we applied for a tourist visa for him. It was denied, due to lack of personal assets in his home country. We knew we wanted to be together forever. So from Dallas I started the process working with a lawyer for the K1 visa for my man.

We had pics, all the forms, everything.

He went for his interview today. The interview went well, he did well with the questions, the CO was nice. At the end of the interview the CO said that additional documents were needed since I recently moved to Dallas from Dubai and he gave him the 221-G form. Ammari then asked what the process would be, the CO took his contact info (mobile#) and said they would contact him with what additional docs are needed.

The lawyer said it was probably due to the fact that his is from Northern Africa.

I have been reading like crazy on this forum. I am going to contact my Senator's office. Email the Embassy in Casablanca and call. Anyone have other suggestions. I am desperate.

Anyone have any comments, anything similar? I am totally bummed.

    Help.

I'm currently waiting for my fiancé, who's from Morocco, to get through AP after his interview and it's been 9 days since his interview.

Did the CO ask for your fiancé's passport? On the 221-g it should indicate what documents are missing. For us they wrote in "certificate of celibacy and translation". If it is a standard document it could be highlighted on the page.

Did you front load your application? Meaning did you provide police and court records before the interview? Did you have everything translated to English? What type of additional proof did you have? Do you currently have a job in the US and meet the income requirement?
