Kai, follow up #2 with additional question for you. Remarkably my wife gained her US citizenship this morning. Boy, they really want to fast-track and clear out the back log. We are delighted! Now onto getting US Passport, which can take 4 months or more. 

My wife, also a citizen of Uganda, holds a valid Ugandan passport. Can she travel outside and return to the US using her UG passport, as if she were a non-US citizen? (I don't see why not) 

Kai, wanted you to know that your advice was met with GREAT SUCCESS! Armed with your info about InfoPass, I called again to USCIS and, once again, was stuck in its circular voice mail system with no way out. However, when the voice asked, "what can I help you with?," I mentioned InfoPass., Immediately the system forwarded me to a live person. Making a longer story short, within days we were scheduled for two interviews: removal of conditions for permanent residence and, amazingly, naturalization which comes just four after months after our application.,
