No, only asked me for passport at my interview. Biometrics did ask to look at the expired GC, and I surrendered it at the naturalization ceremony.

As far as I can tell most people are given around a month notice for the ceremony. If you cannot make a ceremony you are supposed to respond to the letter as soon as you can so they can reschedule you for a later date.

When you have your interview ask for a i-551 stamp in your passport if you are concerned about travel. I had an out of date GC and it was not a problem getting a stamp to cover me until my passport arrived after the oath ceremony.

I wish they had this service at my oath. I received my passport in super fast time, but still waiting on the certificate to be returned and getting rather nervous since it's been 8 days since they claimed it was mailed to me! :/

For those of you keen to apply for a passport after your ceremony; mine only took 8 business days to arrive! This is actually the first time all this business has felt real for me! Hoping your interviews are coming soon!

Make sure you have a police report that you were robbed and also report to USCIS that your GC was stolen. My GC had expired and it was not a problem filing with no current GC as long as you had a photocopy of it.

To double check I would call the USCIS or make an infopass appt. to ask for advice.

You apply for your passport at an official place that processes them which I would not assume where your ceremony is. Check the government website for new passports to check where you can get it processed. I took my application to my town office today, one day after the oath.

I had my ceremony yesterday so unless you get a call I would not worry. You could always call and double check a couple of days before if you are still worrying.

Hi everyone. I attended my ceremony yesterday and the good news is there was no video speech from the president, and no president's signature on the certificate! It was in a courtroom with 30 other applicants from 19 different countries. The judge gave a very heartfelt speech stating that he and the state of Vermont accept and welcome (especially) Muslims and people from all countries and all religions as we all enrich the environment. I could have kissed him! Haha

Today I registered to vote and sent off my passport application so the long journey is at the end. Hang in there everyone who is still waiting. Be thankful we are all (almost) at the end of the journey, and not stuck in immigration hell like others have been going through, and what others will go through in the future. I hope to give back locally and reach out to charity groups that may need help dealing with this system that is no doubt only going to get tougher and nastier in years to come. if I understood the entire thread and the article, IOE applicants are affected. but it did not say what month was affected plus this was a month ago. I dont know if there are any improvements done already on the ELIS or name check.

I was a July IOE filer and got my oath scheduled soon after my interview, so if there was a delay with background checking, it was not noticeable.

Got my oath scheduled. Going to try and get an earlier one as I'm going travelling. Whatever holdup with background checks and IOE filers, it's not that big, it seems.

Had my interview today and passed. Asked six easy peasy civic questions that I could see beforehand on the desk while the officer was looking at something else.

I wasn't asked for any documents or anything. Told me that the oath ceremonies are "backed up" so I won't be able to attend one for a few months. I requested an i-551 stamp as my GC has expired and they happily obliged. The whole thing took less than 15 minutes. Phew!

I didn't want to start a new thread as I have a related question:

Does anyone know what the name of the stamp is needed in your passport if you need to travel when your GC has expired? My GC expires today and I have my citizenship interview tomorrow and would like a stamp to cover me until the oath ceremony in case I need to travel last minute. I am wondering if it is okay to ask for that stamp in the interview seeing as I will be at the office...

I have my interview on Wednesday this week. I was hoping to get a January oath ceremony, but that looks like it's out the window with the latest news. I am in the difficult position that my GC runs out this month and I am going travelling (hopefully) after a January oath ceremony for a couple of months. I am going to see if they will fast track my background checks to make the January ceremony. I am sorry everyone is going through this. I so wish I had applied with the old form.

I added a screen shot of the first page of my account and then I clicked on to the PDF interview appt. letter. I printed it out. It's definitely the interview letter as it starts: "You are hereby notified to appear for an interview on your Application for Naturalization at the date, time, and place indicated above"

I notice my receipt date was 7/15, and my priority date is 7/13 on my NOA. Odd.

When I go to the link you gave me and enter my case status I get this:

"On September 2, 2016, we scheduled you for a biometrics appointment and mailed you an appointment notice for Receipt Number XXXXXXXXXXXX. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your appointment notice by October 2, 2016, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

I am completely ignoring that because it's way past the date and there is a PDF with an interview date.

Blimey, They are in a mess.

I anyone wants to see the PDF, let me know and I'll remove all the important info so you can confirm it's an interview letter. Just to double check! Gah!

When did you first notice the appt ? Did you get a text email ? Or just out of curiosity checked

I checked my account just now after seeing people were having activity going on. Totally shocked that it is actually scheduled seeing what others are going through. Bear in mind VT is a tiny office and probably very few applying.

After all this activity with others I decided to check my account and it was was updated on 10/31 that I have an interview scheduled for December 7th! I was an IOE form. East coasters could see movement. Hang in there!

Sorry to be a pain. Someone kindly changed me back to St. Albans field office this week, but I see it is back to Detroit again which means the chart is not up to date.

If anyone who updates next could you change my field office to St. Albans, VT...please? Not sure how it became Detroit!

Had a very strange biometrics appt. yesterday where someone had a fake ID and I thought it was all gonna go down in the waiting room, but the officer handed the fake card back to the person and let them leave!?
