I wonder how long it takes to receive a green card 💳 ? I would assume you'd get it before the ead gets produced/sent. I wonder why they would produce an ead so close to your interview ???

Most importantly, good luck on your interview.Hoping you get a fast approval 🍀🍀🍀🍀

I was thinking the same thing.  I don't think there is much communication between the various parts of the agency.  I think that their technology is probably outdated as well.  How long after a successful interview is it normally to receive the greencard?

And thank you lleaka for the luck.  I wish you the best of luck as well.

  2. So I just received a notice for the card being produced.  However, it was only updated for the I-765 and not the I-131.  Anybody else experience something similar?  I applied for them together do one would think that they would cover both as the card was being produced.  At this point though, we have our interview on Thursday so will probably be done with the interview before we actually receive the card.

    New Card Is Being Produced

On April 3, 2017, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number MSC17904#####, and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

They didn't even update your 485 case ? That's crazy. At least your interview is coming up so you're basically at the end of the road ????.

So did your congresswoman ever contacted you back ? Or you just contacted uscis on your own ?

I can't wait to be done with all of this and not have to worry about this for the next decade. I just can't wait ??. Uscis has to be the most frustrating agency ever ?

She did contact me back and she told me that the I-131 and the 765 was being reviewed and I should get it completed within 30 days.  When I called USCIS the agent told me that I don't have a RFE, was in the cue of being processed.  30 day wait.  This is so frustrating that nothing get updated.  It is like they are 15 years behind in technology.

From my experience, it didn't delay it , it made them look at my file that hadn't been updated in more than 60 days !!( last update was December 28th I think ).

Senator/ congressman's offices apparently have direct liaisons to Uscis.

You can always set up an infopass and see what happens there.

If you recall we have pretty much the same timeline.  My last update on the USCIS is STILL Dec 28th, even though we already received a interview date from a letter sent on Feb 27th.  I called my congresswoman based on what you had recommended a few weeks ago.  I contacted USCIS and they went to check it but I got the standard 30 days to respond junk.  I am at 106 days also and it is frustrating to know that the website never gets updated for us.  The last update is still Dec 28th.

    Guys need help please..

Is your online status going to change once they scheduled you for an interview? Or you will only receive a notice by mail? Or both?

Thanks for the response.. i am happy for us all.. ???

I posted about this the other day.  My wife's online status is still that from Dec 28th.  No change for EAD, AP, 485, 131.

That being said, we received at letter on March 9th ( Notice date Feb 28 ) that scheduled us for an April 6th interview.  I called them up about it and why the status hasn't been updated online and they said that it may take a day or two to catch up. I also asked what is going on with EAD/AP and they were going to look into it. Well it is now March 15th, and none of the status have changed.   How the heck can they send a letter on Feb 27th and they still have the last status being that the finger prints were received on Dec 21st?!?!?!  Very frustrating and not cool.

Can we move the interview date forward? My wife has a class she has been waiting 6 months to do and it happens to fall on that day and would be another 6 months before she can do it again. Has anyone ever done a walk in for that interview?

Rescheduling can be done but there have been people that have had issues when they did.   Not saying that it can't be done but even when people have called to reschedule, they have had issues later.  Personally, I wouldn't risk it.  Just take the class 6 months later.  You can read some issues people have had with rescheduling on the VJ forums.

On the bottom of your I-797C form it states:

"If an emergency, such as your own illness or a close relative's hospitalization, prevents you from appearing, call the USCIS Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 as soon as possible.  Please be advised that rescheduling will delay processing of application/petition, and may require some steps to be repeated.  It may also affect your eligibility for other immigration benefits while this applications is pending."

  7. So a few things.  After writing to my congresswoman on Monday ( 6th ) they had me fill out a form.  We filled it out and sent it the same day but really at the end of the work day.  I received a call from their office today and the lady told me that the paperwork for the I-765 and I-131 has been sent to an agent and they have 30 days to make the decision. They also told me that we have been scheduled for an interview for the I-485.  It just happens that the letter came yesterday as well for the interview.  Here are some interesting points:

    1.  The Notice Date is Feb 27th

    2.  Our field office is Newark NJ but they scheduled us for Mount Laurel, which according to USCIS processing time is better as Newark is at 4/5/16 and Mt. Laurel at 7/19/16  ( both as of 1/31/17 )

    3.  Here's the kicker...  On the USCIS case status website, nothing has changed.  It still reads last update: 12/28/16  and for the I-485 the last thing that it has for fingerprint received on Dec 21, 2016

So it seems as though that site doesn't really get updated properly?!?!  I'm not sure but I have a physical appointment letter in my hand.

    • Hey there, I would say that it can be quicker because I highly doubt that I would have been approved before 90 days, due to Oct & Nov and the backlog I'd suppose for Dec.
    • I had called USCIS customer service to request an expedite. They will ask a few questions that you already know and then they will list the criteria for an expedite in which I chose Severe financial loss to a person and Emergency situation.
    • I proved both criteria by sending a letter I typed and signed as the beneficiary explaining both criteria mentioned above and also sent it with a job letter.
    • To get a job letter I see a lot of persons applied online (not all) but I applied on a physical application form and was called in for an interview in which I explained my current situation. They did ask how long do I think it would take to get my EAD and SSN because they needed someone to fill the spot ASAP. I told them some time in March (applied early Feb) and my 90th day is in March as well. So to my surprise I got approved later on and got a formal letter explaining job position, annual salary expected start date and that I had to sign the second copy and return to accept this position.
    • So as I conclude I think both the letter and the job letter helped. I've seen someone wrote a letter explaining their reason for expediting without having a job letter and got approved, so I know it is possible without a job letter.
    • I sent a cover sheet, a copy of the letter from USCIS requesting additional evidence, copy of I-765, copy of I-131, copy of biometrics letter with stamp of being completed, letter explaining reason for requesting expedite, job offer letter, bank statement for Jan.

Tried to be as detailed as possible, if anything you can ask I'm more than willing to help, best of luck!

Curious.  How long ago did you put in for the expedition?  I am wondering if it is at this point worth it or just wait a few more weeks.  My insurance company needs proof ( EAD ) and sent a letter so I guess that could be used as reason for expedition.

    Hi,

    Can you please guide me how to properly file taxes as this is my first time and i dont want to make a mistake. Please guide me. My situation is;

I entered USA on 15 DEC 2015. I didnt file for 2015 as it is just 15 days and i didnt work at all. i asked Vjs and everybody say no need to file that year. ( is that OK when i go for N-400?).

In 2016, i have earned around 11000$ for working a company who deduct my taxes. (I dont know how i filled my W-2 at work as it happen so quickly). I have not received my W-2  yet. Also i worked at a store where they pay me cash and i earned around 6 to 70000$.

    My situation is

    >   My wife is housewife;

    >   I have a son and in novembe had a daughter (i didnt take her ssn no yet as she born abroad and we didnt return USA yet).

    > i worked in Newyork and move to missouri in June for two months and didnt work there. (from there we move abroad for baby, family support in other country). Where to file taxes Newyork or missouri. ( i regularly updated my address with USCIS).

can you please guide me how to start. will appreciate your response.

You should get your W2 soon but to whatever address you have on file when you filled it out with your company.  If you don't know what you put down, call the company.

If you worked at a store and paid you cash, it is up to you if you want to report it but I am more than sure that the store owner did not report you as an employee.  If so, he would have to pay wage taxes on your pay as well as you having to pay them.  So you don't have to include that but rightfully you are supposed to even though most people dont report cash.

As for your kids, you should be able to claim both of them and your wife so 3 dependents.  You file state taxes for the states that you worked in but it matters where you were considered a resident for that tax year.  In other words, if you lived in New York for most of the year, then you would be considered a NY resident for that year.

If things get too hectic for you, you can always search out a Portuguese speaking accountant.

  10. So under the timeline there are the entries for NOA date.  For example, it will state something like: EAD NOA Date

I received my I-797C forms and I have no idea what to put into those fields.  For example there are the received dates, priority dates, and then the Notice Date.  It would be helpful on the timeline editing page to have a jaavascript popover etc with a further description of what to enter for the NOA date for each type of form.

I still dont know what is the date that I should be entering into those fields.  I am going to assume it is the Received Date?

    Thanks.

    John

  12. Thanks everybody. My worry is that if there is something wrong with the packet,it seems as though for others the packet was sent back to them. From some of the topics on this board, they didnt hear back from USCIS too and just had their packets mailed back to them. If that happens, I am assuming that a new submission has to be done with the new fees after December 23. Or does the original submission date count?

  13. How many days is it typically before you get the E-Notification after you guys sent in your packets? I sent mine on the 10th, they signed for it on the 12th and I still haven't received anything so I am starting to get worried. I don't want any problems that will make me have to mail out another packet past the 23rd when the fees go up.

For those that recently submitted their packets and received the notifications, how long did it take for you?

    -John
