  1. Well, at long last my wife had her interview.  This was on July 29th, 2021.  Based on reading other people's experiences and advice I went in with my wife for her interview (I am the USC).  We saw many people who went in alone who obviously read their letters for their interview appointment times that said only the petitioner was allowed to come to the interview.  Fortunately all the people we saw had their USC spouses waiting outside and the agents at the San Antonio office allowed them to call them or go get them.  So, if you are in doubt about your USC spouse going to the interview with you know that at least at the San Antonio office they really want the spouse with you.

I have to say the we had a rather pleasant experience.  Aside from the wait which wasn't that bad (about 25 minutes past our 9am appointment time), we had no unpleasantness.  Security was strict but polite enough.  The agent that interviewed us was quite professional and pleasant.  She asked us a view friendly and vaguely probing questions as we walked back to the interview room.  She swore us in, and then asked us how we met.  She had the tax returns and other financial info we'd sent in over a year ago.  She did not request to see any joint account financial statements.  When we applied oh so long ago we had sent copies of our sale of one home and the purchase of our current home (copy of sale documents we had to sign on the old house, and copies of deed of trust on the current house).  We had many photos, but the agent said she could tell we were a bona fide couple and she didn't need to see them.  But my wife ended up showing her photos anyway as we went through our story of how we originally met, then later reconnected, then dated, then got married, then had a baby.   We asked about my wife's daughter.  She entered as a minor on my wife's K1 but is now an adult.  The agent was more than happy to pull up all her info and confirm to us that she would also be approved for removal of conditions and receive her 10 year green card.  The agent ended up spending more time looking up our daughter's case information than she spent interviewing us.  She was quite helpful and really improved my perception of USCIS agents.

Today, August 5th, 2021, we received both my wife's and our daughter's 10 year green cards.

    N400 here we come!

  2. At long last, my wife and step daughter have their green cards.  For my wife the website updated and showed approved, then a few days later we received the paper NOA/Approval, then a few days later we received the green card.  For my step daughter they never updated the website, then today we received the paper NOA/Approval and the Priority Mail package with her green card.

No interviews.  Both are two year green cards.

Hi! I'm in Austin too, and it's been almost a year since I applied for AOS
Can you please give me the details of the doctor that did your medical? In case they ask me to do a new one too?
    Thanks!!!

I see that your NOA1 date is March 15. Mine is March 30, so HOPEFULLY I'll have news soon, as I'm also in Austin.

    Dr. Roberto Miranda

He charged $281 each for our I-683 medical exams.  I think noting what was mentioned by user Californiansunset is worthwhile.  It sure seems like K1/K2/K3/K4 visa holders aren't required to do another medical exam according to the instructions for the I-683.

They made you do a new medical even though you adjusted from a K1 visa??? Did you show them the USCIS website with the official wording that K1 visa adjusters won't need a new medical if they entered the US within 6 months of the medical and married within 90 days of POE?! That's insane.

I wasn't aware of that.  I guess they just made us spend more money for nothing.  Not a big surprise.  We are still waiting for them to acknowledge receipt of my step daughter's new medical exams.  I might use that information to contest them requiring a new medical in the first place.  I'm worried because we are nearing the deadline to respond to the RFE but the system shows nothing received (Fedex shows delivered on March 6th, 2018).

  5. So after being upset about the medical exams which we had to do again because the process has been so slow, we go them done with Dr. who charged a more reasonable fee than most we could find ($281, here in the Austin area).  So, $562 plus our $40 in copays for the shots & TB tests.  $602 more down the pipe.  We sent the I-683 in on Monday via Fedex which delivered them the following day to the San Antonio office.  Wednesday (yesterday) I received a call directly from the officer that was processing our applications.  He said he had just approved Rebeka's but that he didn't have our step-daughter's I-683.  I explained that we sent them in two separate envelopes because they were two separate RFEs.  He said he would track down our step daughter's I-683 and would "probably approve" her as well.  So here's hoping.  He said Rebeka should have her green card in 7-10 business days.

So we didn't get sent to the back of the line.  We hopefully will be done for 2 years.  Then we start up all over again.

  6. Very upset and discouraged.  We've been waiting and waiting.  Last update in March of 2017 was that they'd received the request for evidence (they wanted copies of bank statements we'd already sent, but whatever, we sent them along with many more months than requested).  Now we get a new letter today thinking it will be the interview date.  Nope, RFE now they say we need a new medical examination and vaccination record because the one we submitted is more than a year old.  I get the feeling we just went to the back of the line again and will now have to request new EADs since they will expire in July.

Hey everyone! Congrats to all of those who've gotten their GCs and EAD approvals!

Just wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me...

    - 114 days since filing (March 27)
    - Our marriage interview has been scheduled for August 10

But we still haven't heard anything about the EAD :(

    How's everyone else doing?

We filed a bit before you but we had an RFE so we're probably on the same timeline now.  Interesting, no interview scheduled for us, but we just received her EAD.

    same for me. 86 days.

congratulations for who got some updates and movement in their case :)

    Hey DorothyLa!

I've been in the same group with you since my now wife and I sent in our 129F.  Remember those horrible days of waiting for your interview that seemed like it would never ever come?  Well, you're here now!  My wife, step-daughter and I often speak about those days of waiting for the interview and then waiting for the package after they were approved.  Those were rough, long, and depressing days.  Now we are again waiting like you.  Our NOA date is 3/15/17 and we also got an RFE for income proof even though my income is comfortably above the requirements.  Hang in there!  Here's hoping we get our EADs soon!

  9. The same thing happened with my fiance's application in Brazil. It went from Ready to Administrative Processing then to Issued. Her interview was Nov 22nd, it showed Ready until Nov. 24, when it changed to AP, then on Nov 25 is changed to Issued. The Passports/visas then showed a tracking number on Nov 28, but the postal service indicated they didn't receive the package until Nov. 29. We are waiting for them to arrive now. I'm guessing the process for you will be the same up to the point of being handed over to the shipper, then I'm not sure.

Hi everyone! I have a question: My interview was on Nov. 21st and got approved. I was told to get my passport within 2 weeks, case status changed to "ready" last night but just now it changed back to AP again... Has any of you guys been though this kind of situation? I am worried.Thank you for any reply.

  10. So disappointed. The US Consulate in Rio sent the passports/visa packets out today via Brazilian postal service. It was supposed to be sent via DHL. Its just so hard when my fiance is living in an empty apartment sleeping on a mat on the floor and she has to move out Wednesday. They showed the visas would ship via DHL this whole time on the us-visainfo.com page. But now it shows a Brazilian postal service tracking number. Sigh.

  11. Oh I feel your pain. So sorry. We are getting hounded as well for date. We're waiting for the visa to be delivered. I sincerely hope you get yours soon.

So stressed/depressed sent in papers and ap date was updated on Nov 18th...want to get visa so bad. Missing each other like crazy. Family and friends are hounding us when our wedding is. A freaking signature is all they needed they got it why are they sitting on it?

  12. So your interview was 8/11 and you were supposed to get your visa back on 15/11? And you mentioned Brazilian post office. I thought they sent it via DHL now. Is that not correct?

So I've had a little bit of problem with the holiday that was on nov 15th I should have recieved the passport pack on that day. It got a little delayed. Idk how is it going to be on Christmas and New Year's probably a little bit more trouble I'm afraid :( or i might be wrong and it will be fine, brazilian post office is not known for it's efficiency
A word of advice though, when you get the passport pack try to book the flight asap because of the price rises at the end of the year. I had to fly on the very next day for example. It is a bit harsh but whatever takes to be together <3

  13. Congratulations! So how long after your interview did you received your visa via DHL? We are really worried about the holidays delaying things.

Sorry for not reporting before, I got some excellent news! I just got into the US 2 days ago, the POE was Los Angeles and was super smooth. Like I said, just stay calm(I know it's hard but that's the secret) and everything will be fine.

Got so many things to plan now it's hard to keep comming back here to report. I hope everything goes as good as it was for me here, GOOD LUCK!

  14. Wolfie, have you received your docs back from the consulate? We are super anxious. Its been a really long process and we are exhausted emotionally and physically. How are you guys feeling at this point? Does it get suddenly better after the approval?

I'm just dying to get that message from her on the 22nd saying she was approved. :)

They asked for the birth certificates, i134 and proof of support, criminal records (in brazil federal and for each state your fiance lived at), ds160 (the sheet with the bar code, divorce decree and I think thats all, you might want to bring all you can though, like they say, the more the merrier. I got alot of paper back. I hope everything goes as smoothly for you as it were for me.

  15. Congratulations!

Of course I have questions. :)

What paperwork did they ask for? I-134? IRS Transcript? Signed statement of intent to marry? Criminal history? Also, did they say how soon you should expect to have your passport and the infamous sealed packet?

    Again, congratulations.

Sorry actually my interview was this morning I was so nervous I aid it was yesterday lol
    Sooooooooooooooooooooooo about it!
    We were approved!!!!!
Long waiting line but the interview itself was short and simple:
    Have I visited the USA?
    Did she visit Brazil?
    Where did we met
    When did we met
If I knew that this visa depended on the intenton to marry
She was typing nonstop and I got so afraid of a denial. But then she said "your visa was approved!" Then I had this big smile in my face! Looking foward to have my visa and see my lovely fiance again! Thank you all for the support! It'd been an awesome Journey!!!
