Congrats! Were you interviewed for AOS? My fervent hope is that they start waiving the "must have at least one interview between AOS and ROC" requirement.

Thank you! We interviewed for the AOS but not for ROC. They sent us an RFE after we sent out our ROC packet, which someone here mentioned they might send in lieu of an interview which turned out to be true for us.

That said, it’s upsetting that this system is so backlogged other folks have no way of knowing what’s happening.

On the bright side, it could be a sign they'll approve without an interview. Happened to my friend. We filed at the same time, same office, but she got a RFE and was approved after responding to it sometime in March. So hopefully it's the last hurdle!

You were right! We got approved today. Green card is being made. Thank you for the heads up. All the best to you!

  3. So irritating: we got an RFE. It's due mid July. We initially sent in a phone bill, auto insurance, blank check of our joint account, among a few other things. So, we are going to send even more detailed items and 2 affidavits. If this isnt good enough, I dont know what to tell them, lol. Given the current state, maybe its better for us to move to Australia.

    Hi everyone,

We filed ROC for my husband on 1/26/19. It was accepted on 2/1/19 with a text that said I-797 notice to follow. We are planning on traveling in April but according to infopass, the two offices in New York that are available for us do not take appointments at this time. We don’t want to travel unless he has a I-551 stamp in his passport. Has anyone been able to get the stamp prior to the GC expiring?

We mailed on 1/14/19 tracked the arrival to the facility on the 16th and haven’t heard since (no electronic notice, nor check has been cashed). We too have a trip booked for April. I would love to know what everyone else might be doing. His GC expires April 7, so we have to get his passport stamped before we travel or else we just can’t leave.

Hope we get some clarity soon!

Its been such a long, long wait - since the first time I ever laid eyes on him in a photograph 24 years ago and thought "I'd like to get to know that guy better!" - To meeting him in person 13 years later and striking up a conversation because I still wanted to get to know him! From developing a crush but being too shy and waiting 10 years to do anything about it - from finally putting on my "big girl panties" and telling him I've fancied him since I was a kid - from being in a nearly skype-only relationship for two years - now he's finally coming home to be with me!

It feels so bizarre! When I was a kid, his sister sent me a photograph of herself and him sitting together at the kitchen table, and I used to stare at it and think "oooh he's so cute! Hee hee! If we ever married she would be my sister!" I can't believe it's actually, actually, actually happening! Somebody pinch me!

I'm super excited for you both!!! Write a book!

On another note, I'm pretty confused because our letter said we were transferred to Vermont but the recording with the update on our case said we were transferred to California... Which is where we were originally.  I have a feeling we got lost somewhere because that just doesn't sound right.

I hope you get some answers soon! If you haven't, try to call a minute before their phone lines open so you can have the least wait time. All the best!!

    Sooo we learned today they don't mail your license at all! They mail the original to Sacramento and we never see it. Only certified copies can be obtained and only from the office in the county you married- which is annoying, because we married in Ventura County and have had to make the 150mile round trip 3x to get ours, and it made us miss the 23rd deadline ; ;

    Oh my gosh. ?

What was the 23rd deadline? When we dropped off the certificate, we paid for a certified copy of the certificate - which arrived only yesterday, lol. He got his medical stuff taken care of yesterday too, which should be ready on Monday, which is when we will likely send everything.

I was wondering, we have a sponsor. Do I need to also fill out the I-864 too or just the sponsor?

450 miles to pick up your copy... :( Was Solvang on the way? I hear a Danish strudel could make long drives a little sweeter. ;)

Kat, congratlations!!!!!!! so happy for you!!! :) that is great news.

our CEAC status is still under "administrataive processing" with the last update Dec 29th. But yesterday the passport status was changed to "has moved from the consular office and is being processed for delivery". i am super nervous since the CEAC status did not change.. am worried they denied it, or are asking for more info. Our case expires in 2 weeks and they can deny us for file expiring by then... i am so nervous i feel sick..

I'm hoping that it just means they've had enough of their sadistic games and let you guys move on. My thoughts are with you guys.

Habibi has been in the country since December 15th and it's amazingly wonderful!  We spent the holidays together and with my family and said "I do" on December 30th.  :)

We had a simple ceremony with my close family at our house and had a small Moroccan reception immediately afterwards. We'll be having a BIG family and friends reception/party for everyone we know in the summer.

We've also applied for his SS number (which should be arriving in two weeks or so because we applied on December 22nd). Once we have that he'll be added to our checking account and some of the house bills.

    Now we're on to AoS!

Congratulations and Happy Marriage life!!! (F)(L)

    Hey everybody!

Im crossing my fingers for you CRamak.

Congratulations Poubon...we also didn't tell many people since we want to have a wedding with everyone in Australia.

Tasha...so happy you're preparing for AOS. I might have questions. Because I'm in Los Angeles, our wedding certificate was supposed to arrive within 4-6 weeks (of course, it didn't), so we had to go pick up a copy. We're assembling our packet tonight.

    Good luck everyone. :)

We handed in our third/last round of relationship proof last week. It was sent to the embassy in India. Since then our case date was updated on Dec 27, 28 and 29. I know that means they are working on the file. I just wish I knew if it was good news or not. We are still listed in "administrative processing" It's put an incredible strain on us personally.. ugh.. our date for the officiant/marriage is January 28th and I need to start thinking about changing it. I just don't know what date to change it to. I've already put a deposit on the resort handling the marriage (it's like a romantic elopement package so they coordinate many things..flowers/cake/officiant/photographer, etc) .. they will want a new date... I feel so stuck. I guess I'll see if any status change tomorrow. IF not, I'll call the resort. :(

For those that have made it here I would love to know what steps you have done first for AOS.. SS number? marriage? how has it been going?

This new visa journey update has made the mobile site weird and now I can't get to desktop mode. I wrote a long detailed response and it didn't post. ?

  15. Hey vj family!! Had my interview today and I was approved!! So thankful for all your positive vibes and all...good luck to those who haven't been approved yet. Stay positive!!

So I arrived there at 7am ...the embassy opens at 8am..at 8am they let me in took my bags and phones as they're not allowed in the building...

Waited 30 min ..I was the only one ...then a lady called me and asked why I was there, asked for my documents, then took my fingerprints and sent me to the cashier to pay. Then told me sit again and wait. All that took about 30 min..

Then the CO came and called me..he was very very very nice and smiling...here were the questions:

    Where does your fiance lives?

How long has he been living there?

    How did you meet him?

When was the last time you saw him?

    Why him specifically?

    Do you guys talk everyday?

    "OK Mam,I approve your visa"

Then he said" we will call you when it's ready to pick up"

He didn't ask for any chat log or picturesomething or evidence of relationship...

    Congratulations!!!!!

I'm thinking of all of you and wishing for the very best outcome. I hope we get more good news this week.

  16. I've contacted the Senator's office. I am also going to consult with an immigration lawyer.. the one i used to get him here the first time. just one consultation. I'll see what advice he has. Maybe he has some pull also.I feel trapped now.

Is there a supervisor or someone above who you can talk to? Can you email the consul? I hope the attorney and senator can help. I'm so sorry lady. This is unreal.

  17. Honestly, I've been getting ready for him to arrive since we submitted lol. I've cleared dresser and closet space, got him a house key and US cell phone (and set it up with close family numbers and pictures of his family and us when I was visiting him in Morocco), cleaned the house, setup a profile for him on Netflix and the computer, got him his own stocking for the holidays and his first tree ornament, I've found a local halal butcher (two actually) and a store that sells items from Morocco and the middle east that he might like, this weekend I've been baking goodies for him and the family (over 300 cookies so far and 5 large containers of fudge), and we have a big family Christmas event on Saturday where he'll get to meet my family in-person and not just through Skype.

I also asked other members of VJ for ideas and got some good ones like making maps of the local area, showing him where the library is so he can read if he wants, taking him shopping after he gets in to get some of his favorite foods and get him out of the house, and setup Skype times with his family so they can talk often.

Amazing!!!! He's so lucky to come home to you!! So exciting!
