Congrats! Our interview date is June 22nd. So exciting
-
Called on Friday and our case is officially complete (as of May 10th). I submitted everything electronically on the 30th of April, they came back to me with checklist a few days later and then for whatever reason couldn't open one document so I resubmitted last Monday. I called on Friday as there was no update in the system and they told me it had been completed on the 10th. Now just waiting to hear about interview dates!!
-
I'm just trying to figure out their new system: Was there any indication on your "check status" page? I have been getting a No action required: Review in process message for a couple days now. I emailed my docs in on Friday. Called yesterday (very difficult exchange, person answering phone told me case was complete, then told me I needed to wait for review. ??? Could hardly speak english) and from what I could gather they have my docs but have not reviewed yet.
Nope. But I hadn't checked yet, it had only been 3 days so honestly I was figuring it would be at least 2 weeks! But I already got the revised criminal report (which was totally my fault, it's very clearly spelled out which one I needed) and emailed it back. So I'll keep you updated as to how long it will be now. The other items were related to the financial stuff which they said just to bring to the interview. I'll be curious to see how long for an interview date!

Funny (kind of) update. We got a checklist last night after emailing documents on Sunday. Which is surprisingly quick.
First item was about us not meeting minimum income and using assets. Which was expected, it just says they will review at Embassy.
Second said I hadn't attached a US tax return. Which was correct since I clicked the "I'm not working so don't have to file." And attached a statement further clarifying as well as my ss report showing 0 income. But again, no big deal, we'll just print out updated 864 for interview.
Their item said we had submitted the incorrect version on his birth cert. Which I couldn't understand b/c I carefully checked.
Called them first thing this morning and in fact, it's not his birth certificate. It's his police certificate. My MIL asked for the wrong version when she went so we need to resubmit. (She asked for general and it needs to be a specific version/have specific language).
I guess the good is that clearly they're looking at things very quickly. The weird thing is that they actually got the checklist wrong! Glad I called. Hopefully I can get updated version as early as tomorrow and get it back to NVC and get an interview date!

No tool available to me. I emailed the docs last night and am on hold now with the NVC to confirm if that's okay. Will update when I talk to someone.
-
Thanks frustrated! I submitted via email today and I'll call tomorrow an see if there is another way. Fingers crossed it all goes quickly!

Okay, anyone uploaded docs? From Arg, we're BNS so it says the documents now must be uploaded. I've finally got everything together and ready to go in an email and now this. But..when I go to the CEAC website, I don't see any option to allow me to upload. So confused!
-
Okay, now I really feel like an idiot. I have my email all ready to go as I understood I would submit via email for electronic processing. But then when I want to the NVC site, it says the following:
Method 1: Upload documents online using CEAC
If your NVC case number begins with one of the following prefixes:
BNS FRN HNK MTL RDJ SYD
And your visa category is:
IR1 IR2 IR5 CR1 CR2 F1 F2A F2B F3 F4
Scan and save your financial forms and evidence, civil documents, and translations. Then upload them to your CEAC account online. (CEAC is the Consular Electronic Application Center where you also pay your fees and complete your Form DS-260 visa application.) Instructions and more information are on our Managing Your IV Case Online page.
Our case begins with BNS but I can't find any place where one would upload documents when you log in to the CEAC. Am I just an idiot? Or should I email them to NVCelectronic@state.gov as I had originally planned?

Thanks. We own the land in the US free and clear - no mortgages. I put purchase agreement as I don't have the title in hand yet but it's the legal contract and yes in our names. Also, the assets in Argentina were certified by an accountant in terms of value and also all owned 100%. And point on the horses but that's the husband's business and we own quite a few - as in well north of 50;) so the insurance is merely to serve as a value setting.
The cash in our US account would meet the amount needed but I want to make sure we can address any doubts with all the other assets. Thanks for your suggestions though.

with your bank statements, one thing to make sure of (assuming you're doing i-864 based on assets rather than income) is that the funds need to have been in your possession (or steadily being accumulated in your possession) over the space of at least a year. For example, they want proof the money didnt just show up in your account last week just in time for your visa application. For ours we provided 2 years of statements for our savings account, and for our day to day spending account which still has about $9K in it, we showed the last 6 months.
NB: when filing with assets instead of income, NVC will give you case complete with a checklist. The checklist will just be saying that the embassy will assess assets rather than them doing so, and to make sure you have up to date records at the interview.
We did bank statements etc up until our filing date in January. And then I just dropped off the updated records to the embassy yesterday, with a new i-864, in preparation for next weeks interview. If you like I can let you know if I get any comments/requests back from them.Thank you for insight! We actually have a letter from the bank which goes back 6 months which is what they offer for immigration purposes. Fingers crossed that's long enough
I'm hoping that the fact that the sheer volume of everything we are presenting for assets will address any question the embassy official may have.
I would love to know if you get back any comments/questions from them - thank you! -

Have you lined up a joint sponsor in case they do not accept your assets?
No although certainly anyone in my family can/would do it. But our joint assets are more than enough with a large margin, even just the ones in the US, so I'm not concerned.

Does he have tax returns or transcripts for any of the previous three years (not including this one)? Would be helpful to show he's held a job in the past, as an indication that he may work yet again in the future.
Also, I'm sure you've done your homework here, but I guess you're allowed to use foreign assets? Seems like many of your assets are from Argentina. Everything else looks great!
You can use foreign assets as long as the income will continue which in our case it will. Actually our US assets meet the test but more the better as far as I'm concerned

You attached your tax transcripts in I-864 right?
No tax transcripts - I haven't worked since 2013. I did attach explanation of that to form and also SS statement showing my last year of earnings was 2013.
-
Also - am I missing anything? I have email in my draft folder and just want to make sure!
1. Cover Sheet
2. Cover letter
3. Financial:
A. I-864
B. Proof of Assets (bank statements, titles on commercial property, title of land in US, rental agreement of commercial property, contracts, etc)
4. Civil docs:

c. Military Service Completion record (2: Original and translated from French)
d. Copy of biometric date page from both of beneficiary's passports
e. Marriage certificate
f. Divorce cert from prior marriage of beneficiary
I think that's it right?!
-
Okay, so I think I'm about ready to file. We're doing electronic filing. I don't think all the docs will it in one email - is that a problem?
-
We are about to file our final documentation at the NVC (electronic) and I want to make sure I have everything I have been looking at these papers for SO long - would anyone mind taking a quick gander and letting me know if you see anything missing!
Financial Documents:
I-864 (Affidavit of Support)
Tax returns: N/A as I am not currently working (sponsor)
Proof of Assets which we're using to show we meet financial requirements (all owned by beneficiary)

2. Contract showing rental of real estate with 2 year contract (showing continued income)
3. Statement from accountant in Argentina showing value of assets (shares in company, real estate, etc)
4. Contract signed btwn third party and beneficiary with payment schedule for next 2 years for purchase of additional real estate in Argentina
5. Land purchase agreement here in the US.
6. Bank statement (end of year 2016) + current statement in US
7. Statement from additional overseas bank account

Civil Documents

2) Copy of beneficiary's birth cert
3) Court records N/A
4) Police certificate from both countries (one translated as not in English or Spanish)

6) Marriage certificate from abroad (photocopy and translated because I had it done)
7) Divorce certificate from beneficiary's previous marriage.
Can you see anything I'm missing?!

FWIW - I just talked to the NVC and NO, DOCUMENTS DO NOT NEED TO BE TRANSLATED. We are applying overseas and interviewing at the US Embassy in Arg and the NVC confirmed that as long as documents are in English and/or Spanish - no translation required.
-
We live abroad in Argentina (well, I moved back to US recently to establish domicile) and I just confirmed with NVC that only documents not in English OR native language of country in which you are applying need to be translated. So in our case, nothing needed to be translated.
-
This is a silly question but I want to make sure!
On the NVC website, it says that only documents that aren't in English/native language of country where you're applying (Arg in my case) need to be translated. But on the checklist I have where it lists all the documents needed to submit via email, it says "with translation" on pretty much all of them. So do I need to translate everything from Spanish?

Anyone know exactly how long the electronic file review process takes?
We paid all our fees, just gathering all the info now. I'm just waiting on the criminal background checks, last one should be April 19th and then we can submit all the paperwork!
-
Is the 11 week delay the same for electronic filing as it is for sending hard copies to NVC? Just wondering - we probably won't be able to submit everything until mid April so trying to get a sense of timing.
-
Thanks - just emailed them to request it!
